Desperately Need More Staff

Osterley branch - the poor sales guy was all on his own in such big and busy store and having to deal with people complaining about waiting so long while he was getting fish for us we really felt for him He did however remain calm and was very helpful and knowledgeable about all the fish we enquired about a credit to the store and the reason we gave 3

Top Notch Staff

Excellent staff at Swansea Llansamlet Pontarddulais branches So helpful but I purchased my new tank online because of the free home delivery Much too large to collect Although the price in store was exactly the same they could not offer the free home delivery I would not have purchased it at all if not for the staff at the Llansamlet branch The exact same deal should be available in store All credit should go to the Llansamlet branch where I will most definitely purchase all the accessories required

Good for purchase but not advice

I tend purchase everything I need from this store and in that respect would have given them a high rating but feel their staff don t know anything about fish and offer advice which is wrong so really they should just say they are not sure One shop assistant saw a picture of my ill fish saying she was constipated and had I known it was actually swelling that could have been treated by Epsom salts I could have easily saved her life but it was too late and now she s gone My advice is not to rely on their staff for advice when you re having issues and rather refer to forums and people who know what they are talking about On another date I d asked a staff member in their Wembley branch who told me to treat the fish for white spot when actually it was a fungal infection The picture I showed her was pretty clear Their staff don t sound experienced with fish Great store to purchase things you need for tanks however but that s about it

Pontec PondoSolar Solar Energy Powered Fountain Pump

The instructions that come with the unit are not very clear The Battery Level indicator and the LEDs only work if the pump is connected to the unit In the case of the battery level indicator this only works momentarily for a few seconds when the pump is first turned on Only suitable for a small water feature

Only use if you already know what you need to

I have purchased plant food fish decorations and life support filters heaters from this shop For my 110 litre 29 gallon tank I had 6 bronze corydoras and one male betta bought from them when I decided to buy 10 black neon tetras Within a week all but three had died The fish are also very expensive in what world is a mass bred 1 5 cm neon tetras worth 3 I have been given bad advice and have been told that products that they partner with are far superior to other trusted brand which would normally be fine but this is an animal welfare scenario All of that said I have purchased many good fish and other items and the staff are friendly and sometimes give good advice

Maidenhead Aquatics St Albans

I visited Maidenhead Aquatics store in St Albans I found that the fish was over priced One fish I was interested in was one of the corydoras alfonso They had them selling for 30 each but when I checked on the Maidenhead Aquatics website they were priced at 4 99 I queried it but was told by Manager it depends on where they get them from rubbish That doesn t make sense they are a chain store I told him where I live in East London if i went to McDonald s and paid 3 for a burger i wouldn t expect to pay for a burger in St Albans for 10 then again he may charge that price I feel that this shop is putting their own prices on their products rather than following the prices that s for Maidenhead Aquatics chain stores Ended up going to my usual aquarium shop Maidenhead Aquarics in Enfiled where I got a beautiful Blackfin Cory costing me 8 95 Their prices are reasonable and not over priced I give Enfield branch a 5 star as they are also friendly and helpful
