Delivery and that went well

Delivery and that went well boys very helpful They took some photos of a couple of chairs that were marked Was told someone would be in touch Nothing since A shame really wasn t looking for anything major as some were showroom stock Obviously the delivery boys were more concerned that sales

Carpet fitting

Carpet fitting was booked but no text message was received the night before and a email was asking for the fitting time that evening statin an approx time so fitters turned up early next day and we had to make them wait 10 min They were very understanding and did an excellent job Other than that we are very pleased with the service at Gillies

Disappointment

Slightly disappointed by the installation of the floor Took a long time to complete although we were told it will be a 5 day job after about 3 surveys Some of the materials and finishing were wrong and we have to wait for another 2 weeks before they can resume work Then again had to wait due to miscalculation during survey and not enough material and had to remind them few times for left over job Had to pay them extra due to wrong costing in survey It took about 6 months to finally conclude work Not very impressed with professionalism and workmanship

Paid an 80 delivery charge unnecessarily

The stressless chair is fine but the only reason we agreed to pay the additional 80 delivery cost was because we were informed it would require in-house assembly To our surprise and annoyance it arrived fully assembled We drive an SUV vehicle so we had plenty of space to transport the chair home ourselves had we been correctly informed

Good furniture pleasant staff poor problem resolution procedure

Sales process fine arranged to collect at warehouse 2 days later Unfortunately receipt was incorrect and had incorrect stock item number for different furniture when I went to collect If this could have been resolved at warehouse then there would be no issue but I was advised I had to drive to the shop speak to sales person personally to resolve then drive back to warehouse to collect All staff were pleasant and mistakes can be made - but the frustration is it became my responsibility and fuel and time to resolve

Plenty of scope to improve

Firstly we couldn t find anybody in the shop to help us yet there was 3 people sitting behind their desks in the carpet department Once we placed our order we were told we could pick up our small pieces of furniture at another store closer to our home in a week s time This wasn t confirmed or otherwise on receipt of the confirmation email So assuming the pick up was as verbally agreed we arrived to collect only to be told the items wouldn t arrive till the next day as that was the only day that store received stock

Delivery Charge

I spent over 2000 on a Stressless recliner Gillies then wanted 79 to deliver 7 miles to my home Even more annoying was that the item was driven from Elgin to Inverness past my house Most companies would include free delivery when spending this sort of money I guess that Gillies are just very greedy Would not deal with them again

When you pay nearly 1000 00 for a chair I would hope that the delivery charge might be less than 79 00 but this is Gillies standard rate A company in Glasgow who re also stockists delivered a similar all the way to here Inverness for free assembled and visited with 3 different chairs for us to try before we purchased again no chargeI decided to use Gillies to support a local company As expected I waited several months for the chair to come into stock When it did Gillies allegedly tried to call me twice but neither call showed on my phone on their 3rd call I received their message Sales staff are very nice but I would have hoped for a better service

Poor installation and customer service

We can t fault the sales team at the Aberdeen store who were very helpful in getting our carpet order sorted However when it came to fitting the carpet things took a turn for the worse We have been left with badly damaged skirtings and stair bannisters with large gouges being taken out of them as a result of the carpet going down There are also several scrapes on other parts of the skirting boards and wall paper on the stairs When we reported this to Customer Services we were told Whilst the company s installation teams take great care when delivering and installing new floorcoverings the nature of the work can result in minor d cor damage particularly to freshly painted surfaces We have had several carpets fitted in our house over the time we have lived here and not once has any damaged been caused to our skirting boards Likewise family members have reported as having had no damage caused by carpets being fitted Will have to think twice about using Gillies again which is a shame as the sales team were very good

Negative overall experience

We did not have a positive experience with Gillies despite spending thousands on flooring We would very much like to share our views and experience as verified customers with senior management Directors or Owners of the business Our contact details will be available via the sales team in the Aberdeen office so we look forward to a response in due course David and Davina Grant PortlethenHaving spoken to your manager I would not recommend dealing with this business Defensive deflective and down right dish tThey apply a 15 uplift to all orders so if you have a floor thats 20m2 they add 3m3 which could cost you 300 extraif you have a floor of 81m2 that would be 12 21m3 which would add 1215 to your bill
