Very slow progress we had to change solicitor in the end

Everything started well with Gordon Brown Law they were keen on taking us on sent the initial pack very promptly and we got an initial update on the next steps from our assigned solicitor However once they had the papers from the seller s solicitor progress seemed to completely stall One month into the no progress had been recorded on our file and and we got contradicting status updates when we called the office The deal breaker for us was that Gordon Brown did not seem to appear to be on our lender s panel and the urgent requests for information from our mortgage broker were not addresses in a way that would allow us to finalise the mortgage application This is a pity it feels like the solicitors and the people on the phone are currently completely overworked I would have preferred they turned us away rather than not being able to dedicate an adequate amount of time to our case

Disappointed at lack of communication

Frustrating period using Gordon Browns Receiving no feedback or updates from our conveyancer lack of communication is hard to accept during a very stressful period The girl on reception Bethany is as helpful as she can be but since we were moved conveyancer we get no updates whatsoever We re told by the gentleman who s property we re buying that all information requested is ready but still no calls or emails from Ross Please just a phone call

Not the best start

With so many great reviews it must be the right choice Only communicate when I call poor communication with other solicitors no response to my email information sent or was it information not sent but it has been lost payment on account GBL room for improvement

Slow poor communication Avoid especially as a first time buyer

Communication was poor and they were slow to take action I rarely received updates from my conveyancer instead having to call up and wait for 15 mins in a queue to speak to someone with no knowledge of the case or its status The seller s solicitors and I were often in the dark seemingly with no progress being made and not knowing the next steps or expected timelines which was very frustrating I gave this feedback to GBL multiple times eventually resorting to their complaints process but to no avail They also sent numerous large documents with no explanation As a first-time buyer I would have appreciated more support and better service Moreover comms and documents are all done via PDFs attached to emails if you re looking for a modern speedy service they are not it They did eventually get the job done and the staff including my conveyancer were professional in their conduct throughout otherwise it would have been 1 star

Very poor communication

Don t recommend very hard to speak directly with solicitor have to call and wait on hold usuallly to be intercepted by someone not directly working on my case Emails with questions go unanswered I expected this process to be painful and many factors for the slow progress are out of their control but proactive and receptive communication is in their control and they ve failed at that If you like to be kept informed and have your questions answered I d seek someone else

Why so long

Pattinsons sold my apartment in Newcastle by auction on 27th June 2024 I had sold through them before and used this solicitor so I felt things should work How wrong can you be Although the sale was extremely straightforward one-bed leasehold flat it was only finally wrapped up 18 9 24 nearly THREE MONTHS later During this time I received no updates whatsoever and any attempt to contact Gordon Brown was met with their don t bother us regime One thing they do know however is how to charge They charge for a five star service and provide a two

Really difficult to speak to on the

Really difficult to speak to on the phone waiting times of up to 50 minutes Several days long to reply to email enquiries

Poor keeping client up to date with issues

Conveyancing solicitors should be more transparent and have clear communication with their clients They should appear working in the interest of the client and not the other way round They should explain legal subject matter issues to laymen with simplicity and clarity clarity There should be regular status update and communication with client without client even asking
