My first time to rent with KlassWagen I am very excited as I can t believe how cheap the booking price was Let s see how this pans out As it turns out turns out they initially tell you they can keep the promised price BUT and here comes the very very big BUT If you want them to keep the original price you have to pay not only the agreed rental price but also your deductible which in our case for a medium sized car came to EUR 2 800 And not only that you have to pay for it using ONE CREDIT CARD No cash not accepted No debit card not accepted No using two credit cards not accepted It has to be one credit card and one credit card only It would have been nice to know that in advance so that you can bring along your highest-limit credit card If you can not pay the 2 800 in ONE CREDIT CARD you will automatically be forced to buy the other option which is more or less double the rental cost but only with a 50 Euro deductible i e insurance included Well incidentally I had my magic credit card on me which I could use to pay for the 2 800 Euros so I asked them to proceed with the original rental price Now comes the scary part the staff will turn to the most vulnerable in your company and start telling them horror stories about what is going to happen if you do not buy their insurance your car will break down in the middle of the night you will have no assistance number to call and you will be exposed to the wilderness of the countryside far away from civilization Not so if you buy their insurance they will come for you put you up in a nice warm bed give you a replacement car etc They must be watching horror movies all their spare time to come up with all the stories what will happen to you if your car breaks down in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere Moreover they also tell you that if they find even one additional scratch on the car when you return it not only will you be liable to pay for the repair but also for their loss of revenue during the repair time of several weeks which will come off your 2 800 Euro safety deposit Well I managed that hurdle too despite the fear they were trying to instill So let s see now will I really pay the price agreed upon or not Well at this stage they will still manage to find a few more extras 1 We stated that we are going to cross the border into Romania Even though this is a Romanian company and even though 50 of their vehicles even in Hungary have Romanian number plates they need to issue a permission to cross the border into Romania That took them 25 seconds and they charged 62 Euros for that permission 2 Our vehicle was Hungarian registered but the staff asked if we will use the Hungarian high way system which obviously we would Here comes another charge levied by the day even though I am pretty sure the car has an annual High Way License 3 Petrol the vehicle was handed to us half-full and we were requested to return it half full I will not elaborate further on this but everyone knows that this is never to the client s advantage 4 Are we done No We now obviously have a new price in Euro And instead of charging this price to our Euro denominated credit card here is what they do next to earn another few bucks they convert the Euro amount in Hungarian Forint while adding exactly 5 on top of the current rate and that is the amount will charge to your credit card Anything on the positive side We had a fairly new car but be aware they do have a few cars with more than 100 000 km Our car did not break down in the middle of the night and we were not eaten by the wolves Had we taken the insurance option which was roughly double the original price the rental price would have been more or less at par with those of the international competitors Hence you won t lose money but you need to be aware that the price you see when making the booking is definitely not the one you will end up paying

Hidden insurance costs and slow pickup process
The car was ok and the service too I am only disappointed of their management of the car insurance They do not communicate the costs in advance - when you book the car online - and you have a nice surprise at their offices when you pick up the car This was most likely my worst experience if I consider the moment of getting the car They proposed a full insurance option and a sensibly cheaper one where they block more money on your card and you have a higher deductible in case of damages to the car To make the first one more attractive there were sentences like if you choose the second one you may need to wash and clean the car before returning it These prices were only communicated at the counter in Budapest they might be probably hidden in some 100 pages document when I booked online These prices were high so I choose the cheaper option and we spent about 20 minutes taking pictures of the car and signing papers The girl was taking pictures of all existing scratches but she was inexperienced so also dirty looked like a scratch in her eyes and she missed several damages I was told to take pictures also myself in the process This makes no sense Nobody wants additional insurance fees that double the internet amount of the rental fee Nobody wants to waste one hour picking up the car Insurance cost must be visible and included in the total rental price when booking online so the customer is able to compare offers from different car rental brands offices It is unfair to show lower prices online that then are doubled on site due to abnormal insurance costs

The car and the return service was great The pick up was a bit interesting The lady got frustrated when I didn t take the full insurance Nothing major but I noticed how her tone changed Then she took me out to inspect the car run through quikcly and marked 5 damages After my inspection we marked 16 damages So you can imagine that all these would have been used against my security deposit if I don t check them But this was not new to me ad this is how rental companies make money What actually threw me off was the yawning the lady started to do in every 30 seconds when she realized I am still not finished It was so obvious that is fake This is how she tried to push me to hurry up and potentially don t call out a damage

Klasswagen doubled the price
Klasswagen doubled the price I started renting the car through Economy Bookings for 80 for 4 days a great price I chose to add full coverage fot 10 per day increasing the price to 120 still a good price On Economybookings com it said specifically that no extra payments would be needed at the retal place At Klasswagen in Budapest not paying extra was not an option They said there were two options 1 or you could use the coverage of Economy Bookings which would only cover damage when there was also a police report excluding all minor damages and you needed to cough up a 2500 deposit or 2 you paid an extra 80 for what they considered full coverage Because of this I ended up paying 200 for the car instead of 80 There was no transparancy about this extra payment equalling the price of the car during the booking

Insurance cost was double than few month ago and we rented the same type of car Car was half full not easy to calculate how many km more less you can drive When returning the car fuel level was little bit less they wanted to charge us for 50 eur And indeed we got a car with romanian number plate thats really a disadvantage in hungary

Un ethical approach for car renting options by rep
The Shuttle took very long time to pick me up from the airport after a flight delay of more than an hour When I talked to the representative that arrange the rental I was presented with two options one of which was more than three times the original price The rep tried to scare me into talking the expensive deal and some of the info she gave me was just not true e g that the autobahn pass cost was 30 euros while in reality it was less than half of that 14 45 12 42 and she also implied that the car was not insured for theft and when I challenged that she backed off The car was good though and the price was good

I came the fisrt day to take my car but my mistake that i lost my wallet so I respect your terms and your safety that you cannot rent a car to a person that dont have a physical drive license i told the staff that i will be back tomorrow so please just wait for me and don t cancel my reservation So he gave me his As polite way from you and a professional service you should have some flexibility and try to help a customer that made a mistake and not to try to take advantage when you have a chance to I come the next day to take my car but i was surprised that the staff told me my reservation was cancelled by the booking staff and that was a big lie cuse after I checked with them the told me the opposite And I believe them cause my bookign still stands in my booking and and it says it s confirmed So as it appears the staff is no telling the truth And want me to hire a new car with him This is misleading information just to get his credit for making me renting a new car and this is my reservation no 758930868

I m quite annoyed that you are asking for a review and I need to share please write your reservation number or your full name in the comment It s irrelevant and I d like to keep my privacy from other people who can see the reviews The car was great and big and good price The child seat was dirty The speed of service from airport pickup was confusing could have had someone wait for us if they knew my flight details in advance The drop off was super smooth and very polite and fast I booked the car through Expedia paid for it and the child seat and the insurance only to find out at your office that I needed to pay another insurance I don t need to pay for child seat And what I needed to pay was written on a piece of paper felt dodgy as if prices changed from customer to customer Even if it is Expedia it is your company s responsibility to make it clear with Expedia and the customers what is included what will happen how much you need to pay etc So excellent car but poor service overall
