they will take your money lie to you and then deny you coverage
summary this company is full of liars and con artists and their customer service is abysmal and will literally just tell you lies to get you off the phone then when called out on it they will do absolutely nothing to fix THEIR issues the longer version hyatt legal is one of the WORST companies i have ever had the displeasure to work with they have absolutely no integrity whatsoever and could not care less about their customers i opted in through my employer back in 2017 but never had occasion to use them until november 2018 when i contacted them to find out if my situation adult adoption would be covered after i explained it the lady i spoke to told me that it would be covered as long as the attorney i chose did that type of work and even went so far as to issue me a case number and send me a list of attorneys to choose from this past month i chose one set up the initial consultation and went in about a week later the attorney called me and told me that they had denied my claim as it would only be covered if i was the one doing the adopting not being adopted as this was not what i had been told when i contacted hyatt i called them back and explained the whole situation and asked them what gives the person i spoke to Freddy put me on hold to speak to a supervisor then came back and told me that since they had misinformed me they would be covering my case after all i was surprised but pleased to hear this i was further told that i didn t need to contact the attorney they would reach out and let her know that it we were all set to proceed AND that a supervisor would be following up with me directly to ensure that the matter was resolved after a week and a half of not hearing from either a supervisor or attorney i called the attorney myself to find out whether hyatt had contacted them today i received a call that not only had they not been contacted but they tried to submit the case again and were once again told i was not being covered so yet again i called hyatt to see if they could get their story straight once and for all this time i was connected to a supervisor directly his name was Vaughan and he was extremely condescending he told me that i was not being covered and that they would make sure that someone would follow up with Freddy to make sure everyone was on the same page but refused to acknowledge that at this point the company has literally LIED to me TWICE Vaughan did not offer any further recourse and was essentially useless at this point i disconnected because i was at work and had essentially just wasted my entire lunch break being on hold and then spoken down to a couple of hours later i was called back by Gina the supervisor with whom Freddy supposedly spoke she said she had listened to my calls and informed me that he had no authority to tell me any of what he told me she once again tried to tell me that they would follow up with Freddy which is absolutely useless to me and tried several times to pin the whole matter on the attorney- supposedly it s up to them to decide what is and isn t covered but when i asked if i then ask the attorney to pretty please cover my situation would that solve the issue naturally of course no it s still not going to be covered she ALSO tried to tell me it s MY fault for not telling the first lady that i spoke to that i was the one being adopted first of all i m 27 and i sound significantly younger on the phone when i contacted the attorney in the first place one of the things she said in her initial voicemail back to me was from your voice you sound young so i m guessing you re the one being adopted congrats second the lady i spoke to didn t ask ANY clarifying questions about my case and having never dealt with the legal system before i had no way to know that this was information i needed to provide so that is also absolutely their fault either way you cut it no one at hyatt made any effort whatsever to do ANYTHING to resolve the problem which again is the HYATT LEGAL LIED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES they wouldn t even acknowledge that they lied that their reps failed to ask any clarifying questions or that they have any responsibility for this situation beyond we ll follow up with Freddy hyatt legal is the WORST

Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware Hyatt Legal Plans is the single worst business I have ever done business with They have acted in bad-faith with regards to our agreement and have refused dozens of requests from me to answer simple questions related to my plan I am anticipating that I will have to litigate against Hyatt to recoup damages that they have caused me Attorneys that are contracted by Hyatt have expressed to me that Hyatt will not pay them enough money for it to be worth it for them to work on my case If you are an HR department seeking to include Hyatt as a benefit I would urge you to read all of the Yelp reviews and all of the Better Business Bureau complaints in order to make an educated decision If you are an individual considering Hyatt Legal Plans I would urge you to do the same Please note I am not giving legal advice and this is an expression of my opinion and experience The reason that Hyatt is the worst is because Hyatt has acted in bad-faith with regard to my policy and Hyatt has denied coverage due to ambiguous exclusion clauses in the plan This practice is illegal In the state of California where I reside insurance laws state that the insurance policy issuer must clearly state any and all policy exclusions In the event that there is any ambiguous language California judges have ruled against insurance companies like Hyatt Legal Plans and Met Life because it is the policy issuer s responsibility to clearly express any exclusions and remove any ambiguity The reason for this is because it is the policy issuer who writes the exclusion clauses and so they need to be written clearly and without any ambiguity Consumers have been injured by insurance companies who write ambiguous exclusion clauses in their policies and interpret these ambiguities in their favor To protect consumers California has made it illegal for an insurance company to deny a claim based off of a policy ambiguity In California the ambiguity is ruled in favor of the consumer I am not sure if the same laws apply in other states or jurisdictions Please consult a local lawyer of your state to find out about your local insurance laws Due to an ambiguity in the exclusion clauses of the policy Hyatt has denied my claim I have appealed this denial two times and I have asked for Hyatt to answer questions which would clear up their position on this policy ambiguity I have also asked them to define their position in clear language My requests have been rebuffed and ignored Hyatt Legal Plans attorneys have responded to my appeals however they have failed to answer my questions related to my policy Hyatt Legal Plans has failed to provide a complete list of all exclusions and the applicability of each exclusion in my policy Based off of the above it is clear that Hyatt Legal Plans has acted in bad-faith and that they will continue to ignore my questions wrongfully deny my claim and refuse to be accountable for their actions I have had to retain an attorney to write demand letters to Hyatt Legal Plans in order to demand that they provide coverage for my matter which is listed as fully covered in our agreement My attorneys have informed me that Hyatt Legal Plans is completely in the wrong California law is on my side not Hyatt s For anyone who is in a similar situation to me where Hyatt Legal Plans has denied coverage in bad-faith I would urge you to demand that Hyatt provide coverage in a written letter In the letter write that in the event that you incur costs due to the fact that Hyatt denied your claim in bad faith that you will file a lawsuit against them for damages Then if you do incur costs file a lawsuit against them where the costs you incurred are the damages Additionally punitive damages may also be awarded to you in this instance I would urge you to speak with an attorney if you are in the same situation as me The fact that any customer would have to go to the lengths that I have gone to in order to attempt to receive the services that were paid for is absolutely unacceptable Hyatt Legal Plans is in need of a serious wake-up call to start doing the right thing by its customers The actions of Hyatt Legal Plans are unconscionable illegal and are part of a pattern of acting in bad faith towards consumers At the time of this writing the majority of reviews are one star for Hyatt Legal Plans on Yelp There is at least one other individual who has stated that they needed to file a lawsuit against Hyatt Legal Plans because Hyatt has denied coverage in bad-faith and failed to pay their claims Please note that the above statements are an expression of my opinion While I cannot guarantee that you will have a similar experience as me previous behavior is a pretty good predictor of future behavior Based off of what other reviewers and I have to say you be the judge

Nothing but good experience
I ve seen some bad reviews but I ve had nothing but very positive experiences I have used Hyatt Legal Plan for two real estate transactions one property tax assessment inquiry and help drafting a Will for my wife and myself For the 20 mo the plan costs it has quite literally saved me thousands of dollars I m talking probably about 6000 on the real estate transactions alone I have no idea what a Will costs but I d imagine it s very expensive as well I was concerned that since I was using the equivalent of Legal Insurance that I might not get much attention or crappy network of attornies not the case Everyone has been super helpful and responsive I haven t had much direct interaction with the actual company but my services have all been covered and if they aren t like fighting a parking ticket they ll let you know before you begin the process 5 stars
