Bought a 180 plasma cutter that was

Bought a 180 plasma cutter that was damaged out of the box body was severely dented and it was a danger to the user 1st time trying it out I put it to one side making a mental note to return it next time I was at the store however I had since mislaid the reciept Many ie 8 months later I managed to find the reciept so I spoke to a friendly store operative n they told me I needed to contact the helpline to get some code or other as it wouldn t be on their computer after 3months I had numerous calls with very friendly customer service agents who rigidly trotted out lidl policy and they were safeguarding my consumer rights and the only option was repair by a third party company they deal with After seeking legal advice and consulting the sale of goods and supply of services act 1980 I pointed out that there was no obligation for me to engage with a 3rd party and the retailer should be my only point of contact and a refund was the only option the definition of repair presumes that the product once functioned as discribed this was not the case Furthermore the product was not of merchantable quality at the point of sale A manager got involved and while not commiting that I was correct in quoting my rights under the act stated she would escalate and review my case with a team of 5 other managers for a decision Things dragged on for another few weeks but they relented and provided me with the returns code and I returned it to the local store and received my refund The store people are in my experience very polite and helpful as are the customer service staff but they are obviously groomed to stick rigidly to Lidl policy which of course is stacked in their favour do not accept this dogma and know your statutory rights and quote them when dealing with Lidl Also be aware they also have a policy of not accepting returns under any circumstances on petrol powered goods or electronic goods but thats their policy and does not impinge on your statutory rights of the 1980 Act so do not accept this lidl policy dogma

For a country producing 70 million chickens a year I didn t expect to see chicken thigh burgers from Poland being sold in Ireland

Tough Stewing Steak

Bought stewing steak and cooked it for several hours Never really softened in the process still tough on the dentures Won t buy again

Bought the grill Meister Pizza Oven e76 99 Have tried to cook with it twice but cannot get the temperature above 175 degrees C when the pizza needs to be cooked at 250 300c not impressed

I shopped and shop at Lidl every day

I shopped and shop at Lidl every day their APP WAS great there was always a scratch card with a free pack of sweets or mints etc which was great but lately they got rid of any free treats and have turned into a trend of spend 30 and get a free something small I think it is a shame that they have directed there business strategy in this direction as it gives a totally different and negative portrait of the company customer experience and I am very dissapointed that they changed their strategy in this way It has a negative impact and has taken away that LIDL experience

Farrell potatoes

I cant complain about the service or 95 of the products they sell but for the past 18 months or more I find that the quality of the Farrell potatoes is rubish they are half rotten banged bruised and don t seem to improve or tast better when the new potatoes come in

Used to do weekly shop there until they put up the prices every week there putting them up better off going elsewhere least you get vouchers n discounts Used to be great for the prices not anymore Rip off like the rest of them

Time Wasters

Bought an iron it stopped working the shop refused to take it back and gave a number to ring rang the number no response other than a voice saying that the number would not be answered sent in query via website and now over a week later confirmation arrives that they cannot find a replacement and now the shop will give the money back I suppose I was expected to go around for a week with non-ironed clothes I had to buy another iron in TESCO in the meantime Bad show poor customer orientation disempowered local staff

Multi buy learn to multiply Lidl

Multi buy Do the calculation LIDL Pastry multibuy one costs 80c and Guess What 3 multibuy costs 2 40 What a saving Lots of other examples in the pastry section just to save you money I don t calculate like that Misleading busy people who are alerted by the coloured price label and the expectation that a multi buy saves money Shameful

Disgraceful social distancing in Monaghan

Went to lidl in monaghan on Saturday 4th of April Have to admit there was security on door only allowing 1 in when 1 came out Inside a different story No such thing as social distancing There was not even that many people there but still they were stopping and chatting Special offers cluttering up the bottom of shop Other supermarkets clearing aisles so customers can move freely and efficiently The manager should be more involved with social distancing in his store and keeping his customers and staff safe I for 1 will not be back
