I received an overnight stay for my daughter and myself in arrival we were disappointed from the off very shabby and dated our bathroom had limescale in the shower cubicle the room was tired and dated the curtains were faded from the sun room extremely hot with one desk type plastic fan the spa area was dirty and basic the water in the pool jacuzzi was cloudy looking the salt room was out of service and had been for sometime according to reviews we were not advised of this on arrival the 3 course meal very basic and accompanied by a dirty jus of water no ice etc treatment rooms need a complete overhaul as does the rest of the building lounge chairs in the relaxation area covered with throws to hide the peeling covering I could go on and on we left after an inedible cold breakfast that resembled a greasy spoon Dont waste your money or time the entire stay was based on extra costs for everything complaints procedure is ridiculous

Absolutely disgusted with this place
Absolutely disgusted with this place 7 of us booked an evening spa experience and all had treatments booked separately This was for my mums 60th birthday We arrived with balloons and a cake We were told the balloons were not allowed next to our table in the restaurant Silly rule but fair enough To have our own cake we would also have to pay a surcharge Even though we wasn t eating cake instead of one of their deserts As we had paid as part of the package for a 3 course meal The treatment was very standard 50 minute Swedish massage for 80 There was talking in the room next to me throughout and the sink in the room had a fault As the water system was draining from other rooms it was leaving an awful gurgling sound from the room I was in The spa was nice and we had 2 hours in there before our dinner reservation During this 2 hour period we were purchasing cocktails wine and shots and taking them into the spa in plastic glasses So by the time dinner was ready some of us were rather tipsy However no one was rude or disrespectful to any other diners In fact a couple of diners came up to us to wish my mum a happy 60th A member of staff rudely approached us and told us to be quiet in a very patronising manner We had ordered our food and then an hour after waiting May I add still in this hour the staff were serving us alcoholic drinks they asked us to leave They blamed it on the fact that one of our party looked under 16 and had been served an alcoholic shot If they believed this was the case they should of asked for proof of ID before serving her They were using her as a scapegoat to make an excuse for us to leave By this point they had ruined the meal We would of happily left with receiving a full refund for the 3 course meal we had all paid for but hadn t received They didn t want to do this So we refused to leave They called security All were lovely and actually sympathised with us except one Being a group of women All ranging from 60 to the youngest being 30 except the granddaughter the one security guard became very intimidating and said he would physically remove us if needs be A male diner came over to defend us saying we had done nothing wrong and the problem was in fact with the management as they had also been extremely rude to him and his wife The security guard started to become physical so I intervened and called 999 The police came resolved the situation and were actually great He agreed it was a joke and advised I complain in the morning The management asked the couple that intervened on our behalf to return to their room and asked them to leave the bar This was their wedding anniversary and they were being treated like school children Please don t go to this establishment if you don t wish to be treated with hypocrisy in supplying you alcohol for hours but then telling you not to laugh at your table And like a child in that if you don t do as management stipulate you ll be penalised like a child too And all of this for just under 600 Absolute Joke

Never stay Awful RUDE Worst experience ever
Me and my partner went to stay for a relaxing stay and had paid a lot of money for the garden room Our room was so basic for the amount they charge which was really disappointing you could have been in a travel lodge room it was that basic considering it s a luxury spa hotel The hotel rooms really need some money spent on them During our stay the fire alarm went off at 3am in the morning which was out of the control of the hotel due to a guest vaping in the room which is not why we are complaining it s how the hotel dealt with it after As the alarm was going off all guests left their rooms to go to reception to see if it was a real fire Got to reception and the staff member was not reassuring guests that everything was ok and told us the fire services were on the way They never once assured us everything was ok offered anyone a drink or comfy place to sit until we knew what was happening Once we found out there was no fire we went back to our rooms and could not get back to sleep but not once did any staff member check on anyone to see if they were ok We did manage to eventfully get to sleep and ended up checking out early because we was knackered to even use the spa the next day but as we got to reception they never once asked if we was ok after the situation didn t even bring it up as if they were avoiding asking because they knew guests were going to be annoyed from it They never apologised and yes as your reading this to may think but it s not their fault not it s not their fault it went off but it s the way it was dealt with and managed was awful considering guests like us had paid a lot of money Anyway a week later I email to ask about compensation for this due to the fact a lot of money was paid out and of course I knew the outcome Based on the final decision made by our managing directors we have not and will not be providing any form of compensation to any guest following this event How lovely of them This review is not to do with the alarm going off it s how the hotel have handled looking after their guests and even the response after from paying out a lot of money A luxury spa hotel with exceptional service - THIS IS NOT Will not be staying here again and I highly recommend not booking here if you are looking for a luxury stay and nice staff service Do not waste your money please OVERPRICED

I ve just arrived home after a 2 night
I ve just arrived home after a 2 night stay First of all we had a terrible sleep both nights due to the room having a damp and humid atmosphere leaving us both with cold sweats all night I was told this was because we were in a corner room and on 2nd floor so heat rises Wasnt informed of this when booking I then started noticing by the morning that ladybirds were appearing around the windows doors which made me examine it closer to find clusters of ladybirds Outside our room also had clusters of ladybirds door frames were rotten and mouldy condensation constantly on the doors window which made the room feel damp and horrible and had broken seals couldn t even air out the room due to ladybirds and spider nests on the inside frame No fridge which should be standard in a luxury spa The hot breakfast is NOT hot it s cold The scrambled egg was watery and not really much options Whilst sitting around the pool a lovely lady in charge of the pool area asked how my stay was and I explained all my concerns and expressed my disappointment and discomfort who was actually bothered about it so she explained her manager was coming to the pool area and she will let her know 5 minutes later she called me over to speak with the manager who said i should have mentioned it but we had only been there 1 night so far and these issues were being noticed over that period of time not in all in 1 go she explained she would pass this over to management in the am and I could also let the manager in the morning know if i wanted to when I check out and she apologised yes she showed sympathy but offered nothing as a good will gesture for such a bad experience when I checked out I was asked again by a member of staff and was offered an apology and 2 glasses of prosecco before we leave Which we refused as I was driving home and dont drink Awful place and management just don t care No one even dealt with my concerns just happy to take your money also dirty curtains and ripped Staff wasn t fased by ladybirds either

Poor Value Poor Rooms Poor Food One to Avoid
The Lifehouse Hotel and Spa at Thorpe-le-Soken sells itself as a luxury hotel and spa It falls far short of this expecation The accommodation is in urgent need of investment Rooms are spartan There is no air con Instead there is a table top fan which merely stirs the air The hotel describes this as eco It is merely cheap The room was like an oven day and night There were no drawers for clothes only 3 coat hangers each and none of the usual toiletries The shower was large but mould was growing on the joints No one had cleaned under the bed for some time Your introduction to the restarant after booking will be a letter tellng you to vacate the dining room by 20 30 at dinner You will be pelased to do so The restaurant which is priced very high fails to match the standard of most pub chains Service is slow service staff are friendly but untrained food quality is most disappointing Inconsistent quality and even content The menu is fixed but the same item may be different on different days The food is heavy tough meat lacking in flavour sometimes cold limp salads overpriced desserts At breakfast expect burnt toast the toaster needs adjusting and rubbery scrambled egg if there is any The spa is of a good size and has the usual facilities for this kind of hotel but is heavily oversold so often crowded from early morning until late evening It is sometimes unavailable when booked for parties Bar prices are very high for ordinary beverages and there is a poor wine list The car park is some distance from the main entrance and there is no shade or shelter for vehicles The main lounge and relaxation rooms can be very noisy On the plus side the grounds are nice though the loungers on the lawns set a new standard for discomfort The front of house staff are very pleasant and as helpful as they can be within the limitations of the hotel policy Best to choose any one of the many alternative spa hotels available elsewhere and get better value Most disappointing

So disappointing
We were really looking forward to staying here as it was a special occasion but sadly from the moment we arrived it was an uncomfortable experience We went at the main reception desk and waited whilst the receptionist finished her telephone call without acknowledging us As we continued to wait I noticed a nearby receptionist was free so after 3-4 minutes of waiting we asked her to help instead which in fairness she did but could we have expected her to do so without prompting We originally had requested a bath with our room and confirmed our room had one with this reception As it transpired the room did not have a bath We asked for an ice bucket and some glasses We were told this was not possible unless we bought wine champagne from the hotel We also had to buy the glasses This was handled in a blunt manner -disappointing and it made us feel we were asking for something unreasonable Finally we had to find our own way to our rooms without directions or assistance We had to ask several members of staff for directions on the way - they did - thank you No-one at reception offered to help with our bags no-one made much of an attempt to make us welcome Then to cap it all there was no availability for a massage at the spa during our stay Eventually we gave up and left - very disappointed The room was over 300 Would you have expected more We have sent a letter of complaint and after 14 days are still waiting for a response

Became very unwell
I ve stayed here 4 times and each time we felt a slight decline in services Unfortunately this weekend gone I was there with my wife celebrating my 50th birthday and on the last nights stay woke at 4am feeling very unwell with what I now consider as food poisoning symptoms I stayed a wake with severe symptoms until 9 15am when I finally built up the mental strength to make the 1 40 hour drive home even tho we had the full spa day and breakfast still but no possible to stay Later that evening my wife came down with the same symptoms was extremely ill to the point she passed out We ate throughout our stay at the restaurant for the whole weekend so can only be down to something we ate at the restaurant This will most definitely be our last visit to the life house spa UPDATE As you can see in the response from life house spa they wanted me to talk privately with me thinking they was going to take responsibility But when I did email they basically dismissed any fault So please everyone think twice before booking with this company and if you do be very careful they talk about doctors knowing fulll well the GP is shut on a Sunday that s why my wife went to the local pharmacy who said it sounds like suspected food poisoning and gave her the medication I needed Over time food poisoning if not life threatening goes with lots of rest and fluids which it did Now they are stating it could have been alcohol my wife doesn t drink Keep trying with your silly excuses as you do with every bad review you get Never take responsibility do yous No wonder your rating is terrible on here and it will only get worse from what we experienced

This hotel is racist DO NOT STAY After me and my partner going there on the weekend we paid 300 for the room and paid a 50 deposit on card that you can use in the facilities we didn t use it still remained in there side Going down for dinner at 9pm We was refused entry for my partner wearing jeans and trainers not only was the jeans and trainers at a cost of over 2000 not just a cheap outfit Gets worse as we looked around and others in the restaurant said he has jeans he has jeans on on etc there was around 6 people with jeans and trainers on We said fine take us and refund us for our stay we will leave the man become rude and said that s fine come with me obviously anyone in this situation is going to be angry and upset so there was some conflict with us and the staff witch where very unhelpful and was told we would be refunded Not only spending nearly 200 in the day time in the bar and food we had to then go and find somewhere else to eat which we couldn t as evreywhere was closing and we had to find another local hotel to stay in so double the costs To Now be told there not going to refund us so they have stolen our money including the 50 deposit we had to pay on arrival BE VERY VERY CAREUL BOOKING HERE Racist and disrespectful staff and THEIFS

Very run down spa poor standards on everything Avoid
Very run down spaThe tiling on the pool needs a massive amount of tlc for the price they have charge compared to the standard it is very off The room is very basic in my experience the shower is not safe grips in the shower have rubbed away causing me to slip and badly hurt my back called down to let them know nothing came from this We had paid 200 ahead for the gala dinner - NOT WORTH ITVERY BASIC we met a couple in the evening who had booked a standard room and was aloud into the eventPeople who hadn t paid for the event were just walking in no security for the night either Be careful of the staff as well as they kept putting other people s orders on our bill
