Yikes

Admissions was great Financial aid is very slow it s been a month and I still do not know what s going on The student advisors did not know exactly which forms to send for the initial credential application so my first submission was rejected The instructors are great which is the only reason I am giving 3 stars and not 1 If I had a do over I probably would not go with NU Also double yikes There is no Sandra Franco at NU I tried to click the search in the email tab and it said no results found Seriously NU can you try just a little Just downgraded to 2 stars

3 10 if I could

There is a physics professor who clearly did not look at my work and gave me an arbitrary grade Read D When I tried to call him on it he tried to wait the 45 day period before responding so I could not challenge my grade I saw through this and challenged it with ALL copies of my work including time stamped emails stating my work was in on time and screen shots of my work from tests It took months for the review to come through to prove that I had an A in the class Needless to say this shook my confidence in the program the professor and my own ability at heart I don t know if I ll ever continue my degree there because of this experience Also the program is asking me to take another Algebra class but I had already completed algebra for my first undergrad and it s in my transcripts Someone in the review needs to be talked to

The publish Fast Track Scholarship program

The publish a scholarship program called Fast Track Scholarship The goal of the scholarship is to encourage students to take and complete classes quickly Eligibility is complete 13 5 and the next class tuition is free provided the student completes the 18 quarter units within a six moth period I completed the 18 units within a six month period and after multiple emails and conversations as well as five months after completing the classes I have not received a denial nor an approval for the scholarship I completed all my classes for graduation of two single subject credential program and have not yet graduated nor had my application for my teaching credential submitted

Bad customer service

I still struggle with National University s Financial aid office Their customer s service stinks and they do not have any empathy for student s issues This is the case with my Pell grant which Financial aid takes for ever to release

National University does NOT care about its students

National University is without a doubt the hardest school to communicate with Their financial aid department is lacking in general knowledge of how this schools funding works It also has a lack of consideration for their students financial well being Processing takes months to complete and you will not be notified of any refunds or changes to your account balance unless it s in their benefit I am still missing my award letter and I have been a student since October 24th It is February 15th I receive very little if any contact back when reaching out and leaving messages If you are thinking of attending here beware It is an uphill battle for everything except the actual classes which are good I know that they will probably attempt to address this post in order to make themselves look empathetic but they have had every opportunity to rectify this up t o now It has been months of unreturned calls and emails I have no idea where my money is

Instructors seemed to be there just for a paycheck Feedback was lacking on assignments Grades were given late I was given a 90 100 and asked for reasons why and the professor told me it was because she thought it was a 90 but couldn t give any specific reasons She didn t follow the grading criteria The syllabus often did not match what was posted online and almost never matched what was actually graded Most professors did not respond to emails until the final week of the course Most did not take the time to clarify what work was supposed to be done I feel like this was a degree only in name only I got my MSOL because I paid for it and not because of the quality of work I did The writing center was great though Every session I had was very helpful and each staff member was highly knowledgeable

My experience with NU has been beyond

My experience with NU has been beyond stressful and frustrating I have had to speak with far too many people in just the admissions process Now multiple academic advisors and other staff members on an almost daily basis Too many to keep track of I have been given a lot of false information which has led me to change my personal schedules and plans For or a school that prides itself in being a yellow ribbon veteran founded university I am beyond disappointed I looked forward and still look forward to attending classes but I am not looking forward to dealing with the extra stress that comes along with it I believe staff members need to be more educated when it comes to new students and veterans New processes should be adopted to make things flow much smoother To be clear I have not had any issues with classes or professors Just staff involved with the admissions process etc

Avoid this school

Avoid this school They act like they are so friendly and helpful when they are selling you on signing up but once you are there it s like you don t exist Almost impossible to reach advisors and when you do they usually don t have the knowledge to help Twice my advisor failed to process things for me and I almost got dropped from the school When I was hired recently as a teacher the HR manager at the district said that NU is the worst to deal with and she advises people to go somewhere else to get their teaching credentials How discouraging I was embarrassed I have had a couple of really good professors who were passionate about their profession and their students Mostly the problems here are on the administrative side It s also telling that NU has sanitized its Google search results so that it s difficult to find or leave reviews Boo hiss Get your act together and stop hiding NU

Financial Aid

My next financial aid dispersement is due in February but the financial aid rep said processing time is now 8 to 10 weeks I need the money that I borrowed and I have to pay back for living expenses This time frame is unacceptable Update 2 8 23- I sent an email on 1 16 23 as suggested by NU s reply and have not heard back from anyone

I thought as a first time college

I thought as a first time college student this college would be good but I have done 2 classes they cram everything in in four week classes expect you to get everything done but due dates that all are different every time They say they are flexible but they are not as someone who also has a job they make it so difficult The fact I have had many bad experience with this university I would say definitely go somewhere else as I am looking to go else where to finish my degree
