Nucamp is a No Go

The Nucamp staff are liars and thieves If you use the loan options they will purposefully overcharge you hoping that you aren t paying attention to the loan disbursement amount But I was paying attention I registered for the Complete Software Engineering boot camp on April 28 2022 well before the early bird deadline Course price was 4268 They charged 4868 When I asked about this they claimed I didn t qualify for the early bird discount because I used the loan options This is written nowhere in the website or enrollment agreement No disclosure I complained to the owner Ludovic Fourrage and he said I was overcharged because the price increased in June June I enrolled in APRIL I called him and his staff out on their lies and thievery so they cancelled my enrollment Either they did this because I m black or they do it to everyone Either way these people lack character and integrity I d advise everyone to stay away Edit in response to Nucamp s response YOU ADVERTISED ONE BOOTCAMP FOR ONE PRICE THOUGH IT CONSISTS OF MULTIPLE COURSES THEY ARE PART OF ONE BOOTCAMP I registered in April for THE COMPLETE SOFTWARE ENGINEERING BOOTCAMP and the cost of the ENTIRE BOOTCAMP all of the courses had been paid IN FULL by the end of May So price increases do not apply How can I be charged a price increase AFTER it s been paid for How does that not register in your minds That s STEALING ITS DECEITFUL It s an insult to my intelligence Also with regard to violating the student code of conduct that s another LIE I have downloaded the code of conduct I have screenshots of it that I would gladly post it here if I could Go look at their website to find it It clearly says that it applies to community forums etc It does not apply to support emails communication In any event calling a liar a liar and a thief a thief is truth LIARS AND THIEVES You lied and you ve attempted to steal You were caught YOU are in violation and you just admitted to it by this response

Huge Lack of Quality Instructors

The overall experience with the instructors and student admin support were extremely disappointing throughout the three-month bootcamp period Many instructors hired by the bootcamp don t have the right experience and skills to lead the workshops Among the three sections of the backend Python bootcamp course two out of three instructors I had were inexperienced and had made frequent grading errors on my workshop assignments Upon requesting a regrade of my assignments I was given a bunch of runarounds from the same admin support gatekeeper After more than two weeks of wait time the response that grades remain the same without any feedback from the instructor coach is simply not the way to cut it

The full bootcamp course is basic at best

The full bootcamp course is OK as a basic level web design course but wouldn t recommend the due to the price You re better off taking Udemy courses The web development fundamentals course was a fantastic experience so I enrolled in the Full bootcamp This course was pretty useless all around The courses themselves can be passed pretty simply even if you don t read or attend lectures The lectures themselves are a joke My first instructor seemed to constantly have internet connection issues which was funny since he was a WFH developer apparently Lectures were consistently him losing connection and us waiting on him to rejoin The loan lender they use Climb is also a giant scam that just rush to put people into collections when the companies automated payment system doesn t actually seem to work The customer service agents will consistently promise everything is setup just to get you off the phone Overall a giant waste of money and time Highly disappointed in my choice to use this platform I picked this bootcamp for the price but you clearly get what you pay for

Bad experience but good customer service

Had a bad experience with a professor Student administration helped me with the situation and replied immediately I updated since nucamp wanted me to take down my last comment because it included the professors name I am Not going to comment more nor am I going to sugarcoat things either There are better bootcamps with nicer professors and more flexibility if you have a full-time job That s all I will say The end

Not Worth It

If you like paying an exorbitant amount of money for YouTube videos this course is for you If you want to drop out they will say you can drop out but they will continue to charge you as part of their policy These were my adviser s exact words I am sorry for the way you feel and how you perceive the experience - Student AdministratorI can t write their name due to guidelines but if I could I would STAY AWAY

Significantly worse than free resources available

I was repeatedly prompted to write a review of the overall BootCamp even though I had only completed one of the multiple courses in the curriculum so I m reviewing it early because of the incessant prompts The course content is presented in a way that is next to impossible to learn from - we are provided pre-written code and then told to copy paste other lines of code into it at specific spots Out of the few dozen tasks we were asked to perform over the 5-week course only one required critical thinking or problem solving of any sort and the rest could have been done by anyone familiar or unfamiliar with coding and they wouldn t come out with new knowledge at the end The only slight redeeming factor was the excellent instructor who was knowledgeable patient and engaging I hope he gets a raise as he works hard on his Saturday mornings for not a lot of compensation to share his knowledge with students I should also mention that the first course topic in the full-stack developer course is Bootstrap which unless you re making a website for a hobby isn t relevant in the industry - making websites with Bootstrap s built-in styles isn t exactly a sought-after skill Students inexplicably presented this material before moving on to learning React where it is not used at all There is also a referral program that s pushed very aggressively and it s pushed alongside the review request process with verbiage implying roughly that it s so hard to get a paid job coming right out of a BootCamp so you should really pad your wallet by referring as many people to the BootCamp as possible This is borderline predatory in my opinion and very likely results in the multiple high reviews I ve seen of this bootcamp online I selected this bootcamp as a result of those reviews and so far haven t gotten much value out of it if any and I wouldn t be surprised if others were in this same position Instead of paying this provider for their courses I highly recommend the multitude of free and inexpensive resources available through platforms like freecodecamp coursera udemy and edx

Don t Recommend

Not sure how honest this reporting system is Hopefully my review doesn t get deleted I took the intro web development course with the plan to complete the full stack training through NuCamp Honestly I learned more from Udemy courses that I purchased and I wouldn t recommend NuCamp to friends or family The instructor was largely absent lacked experience in the field and struggled understanding answering basic questions The website tells you to expect 17 5 hours of content per week but in reality I was finished with things every week in about 6 hours INCLUDING the weekly workshops My instructor made the weekly workshops into a joke where he haphazardly went through the slides we had already seen in the videos that week and asked if there were questions When we finished our workshop assignments we were allowed to leave with no further work or review I was typically done in less than two hours each Saturday I do not feel like this course was worth the money AT ALL Like I said I ve paid far less on Udemy and received much better instruction and higher quality material than NuCamp Don t spend your money here There are free bootcamps out there with more to offer and certainly other paid programs that are higher caliber as well

Below Expectations

I enrolled in Nucamp as I was looking to gain skills in Full stack development and this seemed to be an affordable option with good ratings I do not feel the same upon finishingPros 1 It s more affordable compared to other boot camps2 Admin is responsive if you make requests for cohort change or anythingCons 1 A mix of good and bad instructors if you are lucky you will be in good hands 2 Less time is given to work on the portfolio project you need time to work along with the boot camp 3 Content is not updated The backend course for Node jS is 3 years old React Native was an old one as well Unfortunately the instructor for Node was tricky to follow and as a result I could not understand the backend at all 4 The boot camp is less focused on building your concepts It goes from basic to completely advanced topics If you are new to full stack I would not recommend this boot camp I would have to turn to free courses on youtube or Codecademy to complete my understanding5 Most of the students Instructors are US based The course talks about the Europe timeline but there is hardly any set-up for Europe-based students If you have prior experience you will be able to follow along The Backend was totally a disaster for me Overall I will give it a 2 5 5 rating

The python bootcamp was a great starting place The bootcamp goes through a lot of material and you have an additional portfolio project Additionally a lot of outside research is required to complete the assignments
