Hello l purchased two steam train rides for two with cream tea s for Mother s Day gifts The gifts have not been redeemed yet but if the event matches how fantastic both Mother s received the thought of going on a steam train then l will be delighted Especially as one of the Mother s Fathers was a steam engine driver

Lovely relaxing day at the Hill Valley Macdonald resort Whitchurch Only disappointment was the food in the bar as they ran out of 2 basic items like coleslaw and mustard mayo which was part of the sandwich I ordered and it was very cheap shiney ham I was given a small ramekin of watercress to compensate I would have chosen something else if given the choice especially as it was nearly 8 for 2 small slices of tissue paper shiney ham 2 slices of unbuttered white bread It was the only thing that I did not like about the day The spa staff facilities were wonderful as was the spa treatment I chose the back massage I would definitely go again for the spa

Went home grinning

Most enjoyable Although I once drove a full size steam loco 40 years ago and under strict suprevision this was my first go at a narrow gauge but Pete the instructor gave very clear directions and was very chatty and approachable The RHR is at an early stage of development and new facilities are being added but that in no way detracted from a fine day out - all the necessary things are there picnic tables a bouncy castle a tea bar other things for children as well as the steam trains themselves I got the impression this is run by families for families Drove home grinning

We had a great two night stay at Stonefield Castle Hotel

We had a great two night stay at Stonefield Castle Tarbert Scotland What a wonderful place to just sit and relax and have a beer or a dram with four lounges to choose from and are dog friendly You can have a meal in the bar where the young barman is such a lovely chatty guy or you can dine in the dining room that looks out onto Loch Fyne All the staff are really friendly On our way home we went to Balathie House Hotel for afternoon tea which was really lovely we enjoyed imensly So a wonderful couple of days away thanks to our son George wife Elena and son Nicholas
