Disappointed with the quality of the Knightsbridge fittings supplied

The poor rating is for poor quality control Orders were dispatched efficiently and arrived on time I purchased a quantity of Knightsbridge Pure fittings about 3 years ago and was pleased with speed of delivery and appearance However I had several switch failures from the outset on both the light fittings and sockets I put this down to being unlucky and replaced them Over the next couple of years further switches failed and required replacing Eventually I decided to cut my losses and replace everything with Schneider from Screwfix These have now been in for 6 months and there hasn t been a single failure Although the Knightsbridge fittings were cheap I did expect better quality from TLC and assumed that coming from an electrical factors they would be fit for purpose It s not just the cost of having to throw the fittings away that rankles it s the time involved in replacing them particularly in the kitchen where access isn t easy When I looked online prior to buying the Knightsbridge fittings reviews of the make were very positive However looking now there are many electricians who seem to have had similar issues to me and get regular callbacks to replace faulty sockets and switches I know that there is a warranty with the fittings but that doesn t cover my fitting time or postage It s hardly worth spending several pounds on postage to return an item that cost a similar amount Not every item went faulty but enough to make me lose trust in both Knightsbridge as a brand and TLC as a supplier

Started off as a simple exercise

Started off as a simple exercise - I simply wanted to replace 5 halogen lamps 2 of the LED lamps worked fine the other 3 kept switching on and off after about 2 hrs I purchased a new dimmer on TLC s advice but still same problem and asked to return the 3 faulty lights TLC said it was a mode problem and kept asking what mode my electrician had set the dimmer on Who pays 60 for a simple job like this I had started off in default mode and then tried the others Then TLC at last sent me 3 replacements but the WRONG ONES During this time TLC kept wittering on about my electrician and asking me the same questions I had already answered ie being no help at all In the end I agreed to send everything back bar the 2 good ones About 30 messages were exchanged during this whole exercise including complaints sent to a director or senior manager who took no notice So now have 2 good LEDs taking into account postage etc at cost of 9 41 ea instead of what I purchased them for 5 10

Total Liability Cowboys

Sold a 100m two hundred holder Festoon stated to be good for 15watt Golf ball or 25watt GLS lamps As the latter adds up to five kilowatts the advert states - comes wired with a 32amp connector As it has a load rating of 5kw is 100m s long and comes with a 32amp connector you would expect it to be 2 5mm cable as all my stock of Festoon cables are What they sent out is wired in 1 5mm cable with a 16amp connector which is bad enough till you spot that the feeder cable is only 1mm but the label on the box still states suitable for 15watt or 25watt lamps hay they re saving you the trouble of arranging a barbecue unfortunately you may have some unexpected guests turning up in fire fighter outfits to your gig

Started off as a simple execise

My difficulty in getting LED lamps that worked from TLC has been solved see my review of 2 Feb Simply went down and bought 6 from Screwfix at 3 99 each and all worked first time

Poor service

Poor service Ordered two fluorescent tubes on 14 11 2017 In invoice they said they will deliver locally by van next day I m still waiting I called them on Saturday and they said they delivered To other house other number other street left in Hairdresser shop even that they required my signature Been home on 15 11 17 and nobody bother to come knocking at my door No card left They must think I am a mindreader to figure it out where they left my order I called again today and they asked me to go to Hairdresser shop and take it Hello I paid for delivery Highly unprofessional rude on the phone Not recommended

Poor first impressions

I was recommended TLC Direct by a checkatrade electrician I am an end-consumer After researching the products on the website I ordered a Luxair cooker hood The automated emails and billing was fantastic and the item was delivered promptly Great stuff However the wrong size of the product was delivered In the Covid season I acknowledge that these things happen and that we need to support each other However when I called Customer Services and then the branch that delivered the order - they couldn t care about the incorrect item being delivered and instead suggested I give them time to sort out the issue which is fair First impression - avoid TLC please

Bought 2 metres of electric cable from

Bought 2 metres of electric cable from the Abingdon branch but got only 1 9 metres It s a small discrepancy ok but why not measure it adequately I had to stretch the cable to just about connect the two points I needed for the job Otherwise everything was ok reasonably fast delivery and good quality product

Poor Service from carrier

Good service from TLC however problems with delivery from DPD told them to leave in a safe place as instructed to both TLC when placing order and DPD prior to delivery Unfortunately our request was not adhered too I will not be placing another order in future Very disappointed

poor communication regarding stock Wasted our time

ordered a Luxair cooker hood They took our order last week but received an email today saying they wont deliver till end of the month as they haven t got it wasted our time could have got it from another company they had 2 in stock if they would have said it on their website then First impression- Not again with TLC Dr SadiqGlasgow

Emergency lighting

Beware of these emergency fittings the battery life is less than 2 years and replacement batteries cannot be found in UK To open the fitting to check the battery nullifies the warranty Poor customer service form head office
