In my opinion Not very competitive and not very flexible in offering alternatives when wanting to renew and alter my policy won t use them again after 8 years

TL DR Towergate use a separate company for claims and emergency helpline They printed an incorrect policy number on my documents The emergency helpline is just a claims logging service their words and don t arrange any help like emergency plumbers They take 2 days to send your policy info over to the claims team anyway for any help so you won t get a quick answer to anything Won t be renewing again Fine until you need them Simple claim leak of water caused damage Rang the out of hours claim service - that I d paid for - and they were unable to help or give advice Couldn t call a plumber refused to do anything at all and said to call customer service Customer service not open at 6pm makes sense Called claims on the following Monday and was told my policy number did not exist A number of calls to customer service and the policy number on my documents was INCORRECT Called back to claims and it takes TWO DAYS for the policy information to be sent over from Towergate So despite paying for emergency cover I had no help and had to arrange everything myself Trying to deal with the claims team 2 weeks later and e-mail replies take 3 - 4 days Honestly I will probably give us Complaint to follow to Towergate Edit 19 05 23 Towergate haven t acknowledged my complaint despite submitting in writing Got multiple calls from the out of hours claim service third party who had obviously been hassled by Towergate as a result of this review and they say they have never spoken to me They gave me their contact number and it s not even on my policy so they don t know who I spoke to Even more evidence that Towergate mis sold me a policy that I could never use

I am a foster carer and Towergate is recommended as they offer specialised insurance Premiums are high over 600 a year Been with them for years without claiming Coming up to renewal so started collecting quotes and doing some research Over a back extension on my home there is a flat roof Been here five years but somehow it had never been mentioned in the insurance policy which I noticed when I was making comparisons Well I thought I will call mention it and ask if that will put the policy up for next year Thought this would be straightforward I was told they needed to know what the flat roof was made of but I don t know It s not on my house survey All I know it that it is a felted flat roof Well never mind I said Then I was told that if I didn t tell them my insurance could be invalidated I said well I won t renew and was told that it was over one month before renewal so I would need to ring again which I did I told the employee why I was leaving and said I was unhappy and she asked if I wanted to complain so I did and eventually I was told they did need to know the composition of the roof I had been paying insurance to them for ten years and I wasn t even trying to claim - thankfully I hated the way I was spoken too If they care so much about the composition of the roof they should have asked someone to take a look Most of the property is a tiled roof so a small part was a flat roof Thankfully I am now with another company I am just grateful that I never had to make a claim Horrible company Only gave two stars because the lady I spoke too when I said I wasn t renewing was efficient

Staff have virtually no knowledge of the policies they sell Makes discussing them impossible

On the 13th November 2023 I took out an Unoccupied insurance on two flats They were reasonable and efficient at the beginning Just a week later we got tenants in I phoned Towergate to get a new quote but got no response Time was running out so I switched companies On the 17th November I emailed and phone Towergate to cancel I was told that they had to contact insurance company to cancel it and they would contact me On the 15th January I phoned again and was told that someone will call back the next day When they didn t I called back the next day One operator hung up on me and the second time I spoke to a nice lady She assured me that it was cancelled and I received an email to confirm this The fact that it took TWO MONTHS to cancel it was shocking I will not use Towergate again The communication is poor I ve sent two emails to complain and I have yet to hear from them I am now waiting for the promised full refund They are great once they have your money but getting it back is a nightmare

Been with them for years I forgot to renew and lapsed by a week so they tagged another 70 on my renewal price just to say thankyou Very dissapointing

Nearly 100 more expensive than other companies almost as if they don t want you to insure with them but need to have this wing of business to tick a box

I do not recommend Towergate Insurance They automatically extend your insurance policy each year without an easy option to cancel continuing to charge you The email notification they send about the automatic renewal does not allow for a direct response to decline the extension This practice makes it extremely challenging to manage your policy preferences and can lead to unwanted charges Be cautious if considering their services

Have been with Towergate for a few years now and never experienced any problems We have recently made a claim which is still ongoing so when it has come to renewal - we were not issued with a renewal quote as standard as we normally have been each year I had to chase it down on the last day of our cover to get the quote When we eventually received the quote - the cost has SHOCKED me An easy way for them to recover some of the costs because we have made a claim I expected it to increase but not by so much Feel like we have been left with no choice but to go with the cover since they are already dealing with a current claim and not enough time to try and get alternative quotes

Waiting an eternity for a refund Removed a property from a policy back in February refund processed 20 09 23 payment not yet received as at 06 10 23 Every time I call it s a new person who I have to explain everything to again I think 7 months is long enough to wait without having to wait a further 30 days to receive a payment all so Towergate aren t without the cash flow even though I ll be without the funds for over 8 months before the payment arrives Fuad is the only person I have spoken to who actually wanted to help and it s only thanks to him anything moved forward
