Would rather threaten to send round the debt collectors than phone a customer with a problem

A very frustrating company to deal with Choosing to have our towbar fitted through a mobile towbar company turned out to be a 4 week ordeal which I would not recommend Firstly my wife was charged an extra 80 for not stating we had an estate car Secondly after the detachable Witter towbar developed a fault the following day most of our phone messages were not returned After emailing the company simply asking them to ring we received a very long threatening email saying they would send round the debt collectors Not exactly from the John Lewis school of customer service All we wanted was a towbar that worked not a visit from the boys

Shocking experience

Shocking experience I was left feeling like these people just don t know what they re talking about They messed around trying to chose the right electrics then claim to have brought the wrong ones for my vehicle at point of install The install was aborted and I got my deposit back The snotty attitude of Michaela on the phone just added to my low opinion of this company

BE AWARE

BE AWARE if you have a dual fuel vehicle as this is apparently classed as a modification to the vehicle which I hadn t stipulated as a modification when asked the question by Trailertrek My vehicle has a dual fuel badge on the rear so I assumed it was a factory fitted conversion which I did not see as a modification On arrival at my home Trailertrek seeing my vehicle as being duel fuel said they couldn t fit the towbar and would not refund my 120 deposit I have since recovered the towbar from Trailertrek which is still in it s original packaging which shows the towbar part number and who Trailertrek purchased it from I googled the company Tow-Trust in Atherstone and also the part number on their website and it clearly says that towbar is for a duel fuel vehicle of my description and year I took the towbar and my vehicle to Tow-Trust who have said they can see no reason why this towbar cannot be fitted to my vehicle and are fitting it for a much reduced price due to my deposit loss their original supply and installation cost not being much more than Trailertrek s price In my opinion go to Tow-Trust who you can trust for your towbar installation as they know what they are doing and gave me much more time and understanding as a customer

Poor communication and customer service

This was my second use of Trailertrek after having a good experience the first time The engineer was great and helpful but the day after fitting the car developed various warning lights I reported to the company who investigated and told me that a coding problem that needed correction and would need engineer back I waited for a couple of weeks until back in my area but on inspection they discovered this was due to a blown fuse and that I had to pay a call out charge At no point did they mention this could be the issue on the phone which the onsite engineer thought was obvious explanation and whilst they focused on the terms and conditions there were immediately pretty unreasonable to speak with In the end just paid up Field engineer great but after sales customer service and communication over the phone severely lacking

TrailerTrek s service is poor My order consisted of detachable towbar with a number plate The fitting of the towbar was fine but the number plate supplied was incorrect - obviously a translation error by Trailer Trek as my order confimation had the correct registration on it I was promised by the fitting technician that a replacement one would be supplied asap - nothing arrived Called TrailerTrek s office as I needed the plate for an imminent holiday and was promised that one would be put in the post to meet my departure date - nothing arrived which left me without a legal bike rack which was very frustrating Called again as nothing was on my doormat when I returned from vacation and was promised a plate would be sent asap again 6 weeks have now gone by and still nothing Poor service is one thing not getting what you pay for is another

I would not recommend Trailer Trek at all I have never known a company so petty and unprofessional They threatened to leave negative reviews on MY business because they did not agree with the review my employee who booked our tow bar had left They also threatened legal action against her not my idea of good customer service They then kept calling my office requesting the review was deleted so here I am writing it myself as they demanded We have lost 235 00 deposit despite the make model and registration of the vehicle being correct There was a simple misunderstanding over the use of the word van We had arranged for a tow bar to be fitted to our flat-bed van they thought it was a panel van I double checked the confirmation email myself it just said van a commonly used term which I thought nothing of The fitter arrived on time but left within 30 seconds after saying he had the wrong part When I spoke to them on the phone shortly after they were completely unwilling to come to any compromise I can appreciate that there are labour and travel costs involved and would have been willing to pay for this However 235 00 I think most people will agree is very excessive especially considering they were returning the incorrect part for a refund I have nothing at all to show for the money lost as I am unwilling to part with a deposit fee for a second time Nearly all mechanic related businesses use your registration to source parts Apparently this one doesn t They also insist on over half the cost as a non-refundable deposit when booking which I have never had to do before The emails I received from the company in response to our complaint were shocking I would not risk using them in the future

Still no refund from an absent number plate

They came to fit my tow bar which was absolutely fine did a great job of this However I paid for a number plate to be made which I am still waiting for a month later they said I can have a refund which I am yet to receive Not a happy customer I will not be recommending them to anyone

They put the wrong towbar on my car

They put the wrong electrics on my car meaning I had to wait 3 weeks before they could change it also meaning that we couldn t go away as planned
