Rude and unprofessional

I am afraid I cannot recommend this company after enquiring for a quote asking them to tell me what the cheapest option was to start then I would be happy to discuss if it was in my price range to be told no I don t think I will bother and be hung up on Rude and unprofessional I would love to hear this recording as I did not shout want and I actually said see if I need to bother you with a load of questions Having worked in customer service for years I would not have a go at someone thank you - however I did not want to listen to a half hour spiel on it when I was very busy I emailed for a quote expecting an email back - not to be called when working

Unhappy customer

I chose trailertrek because they offered a mobile service I had parking sensors fitted and after a few days they began not working properly constantly bleeping when selected reverse or a continual tone when not moving at all I called them and they did come out within a few days to have a look To cut a very long story short several visits later the problem remained and I was told by Wayne over the phone that it appears it may be a problem with my car The car was not a year old at this point Wayne said I would have to take it to them miles away from my home so he could put the diagnostic machine on to see where the problem was I said I was not prepared to do this as I had chosen their company because they offered a mobile service I was told that the diagnostic machine was not portable After a lengthy telephone conversation and being laughed at by the owner of the company I decided that I was not getting anywhere with this man I independently got the vehicle checked out and there had been a fault probably caused by the fitting of the sensors not being recognised on the cars internal computer The machine reset the issue and all has been fine since Wayne has not tried to contact me further and i have been left feeling very disappointed as I cannot help but think that they wanted me to take the car to them in Solihull so they could say the fault was already there therefore causing the problem

Disappointing

Initially decent communications and initial impression The fitter arrived promptly on a bitterly cold morning I had already cleared space in my garage to enable him to work out of the worst of the weather However 5 minutes after the fitter left I found he had removed but not refitted the plastic undertray to the car The fixings push plastic trim clips and some nuts were no where to be found I assumed he d forgotten to refit the part several square feet of plastic and probably had the fittings in his pocket I rang the company immediately within 5 minutes so he could have easily returned and was given a not very credible explanation that the under tray would have required a lot of cutting to be refitted and therefore it was normal they left these parts off after fitting the towbar However when I subsequently checked with the towbar manufacturers fitting instructions online I found that they included instructions and a template to cut out a small part of the undertray and refit it In subsequent days I emailed trailertrek twice with the instructions and spoke to them on the phone twice I told them I would make the cutout and refit the undertray if they would just return the fixings they had removed from the car Each time I spoke to them they said they would sort it out but this proved simply to get me off the phone There was no further contact from them They clearly weren t going to sort it out and no amount of phone calls would persuade them to do so If I can find a source for the relevant trim clips I will complete the job myself

Don t sign completion form unless you ve personally checked the work

Helpful fitters but we were left with faulty car lights only discovered after I d signed the completion form Couldn t drive the car so asked for fitter to come back next day Officious man in head office took this as an unreasonable demand and told me that as I d signed the form he would do nothing and threatened that if I took it further he would bring the form as evidence This without any suggestion from me that I would take it further Eventually after some lengthy conversation he agreed to send a fitter in 2 working days which duly happened and fault quickly fixed Lesson don t sign anything until you have checked everything don t take the fitter s word that all is ok

Bad start but satisfactory ending

Had a couple of problems which I feel could have been handled better at the time but in fairness to Trailertrek it was probably not their fault and I did get a phone call apologising and explaining the reasons for the issues which were put right

I wrote a review very recently

I wrote a review very recently headed Be Aware whereby I mentioned I hadn t told Trailertrek when asked if my vehicle had any modifications that my vehicle had an LPG gas conversion I didn t mention it as I thought it a Factory Fitted conversion and have since had verification it is a Dual Fuel Factory Fitted conversion On arrival at my home Trailertrek said they couldn t fit the towbar to my vehicle because it had an LPG conversion and that the gas tank location would interfere with the fitting instructions I therefore lost my deposit as I hadn t mentioned this previously Trailertrek kindly allowed me to keep the towbar and on further research I was able to find a company Tow-Trust who was able to fit the towbar for me with the aid of using ramps to make fitment more accessible I do feel that Trailertrek on arrival at my home to do the fitting neglected to make it clear that they were unable to do a mobile fitment as they hadn t the correct equipment rather than say it couldn t be done However it would have helped the situation had I mentioned my vehicle was dual fuel previously So my point is to anyone in a similar situation Be Aware that a gas conversion may likely hinder the installation of a towbar by a mobile fitter

Good product but care needed with torque settings

This was a new experience for me As an ex-automotive industry Research Engineer I have hitherto always fitted my own towbars and electrics but - at 75 - I m getting a bit old for grovelling under cars and was not totally up to date with current electrical systems So I decided to contract the job to TrailerTrek The TrailerTrek fitter arrived at the appointed time and fitted the towbar and electrics within a couple of hours and everything worked ok I was particularly impressed with the way in which the electrics integrated with the car s CAN-BUS system without requiring any direct connections to the rear light units I had chosen a bar with a flange-fitting ball because I have a cycle-rack plate and bumper protector which fit between the ball and towbar flange The fitter would have fitted these but for the fact that the supplied bolts were not long enough and he didn t have any longer ones on his van So he fitted the ball using the supplied bolts leaving me to obtain some longer bolts in order to fit my additional items - which I was happy with EXCEPT that when I came to do it I couldn t undo the bolts M16 HT bolts are supposed to be torqued to 252 Nm - which I could have coped with - but the fitter s powerful impact driver had tightened them way beyond that with the result that none of my tools - even with long extension bars - would budge them When I phoned TrailerTrek they were willing to loosen them for me - but the only way of getting this done within a few days was for me to drive to their headquarters and meet one of their fitters there He - a different fitter from the one who had fitted the bar - really struggled to undo the bolts declaring that he had never come across any that tight before As a result of that I expressed my concern to Trailertrek that since the fitter used the same impact driver to tighten the smaller bolts holding the towbar to the car these may also have been overtightened with potentially serious consequences I am pleased to say that Trailertrek took this concern seriously and sent a fitter to my house to slacken the bolts and re-torque them with a hand-operated torque wrench Fortunately the M10 bolts appeared to be OK but the M12s were a bit over-tight - though not seriously so In summary I am very happy with the end result but recommend that customers ask the fitters to tighten the bolts with a hand-operated torque wrench NOT with power tools
