Valspar paint

I recently brought 10 litres of a mixed colour from B Q Took 4 coats to get a solid colour with each coat blistering in different areas each time Some have dried down but walls arel left with wrinkled paint while others remain as blisters If you burst the blister the paint peels off back to the original surface Complete waste of money time and effort Will NEVER purchase again and will advise any customer at the B Q paint desk to internet search reviews on the paint before purchasing Extremely dissapointed

Worst paint ever

Paint went on alright but less than a year later there was discolouration and botching plus the colour had faded Been painting for over 30 years and this is the worst Will never buy again

Foul-smelling paint

Bought Valspar simplicity from B Q Whilst I had painted with this before with no issues I painted my spare room with the pure brilliant white paint and it left a horrible smell that would fill the other rooms if the door was left open I was only able to eliminate the smell by painting again with Dulux I have read lots of articles about Valspar and it s issues with foul smelling paint and as of 2024 the issues appear to still remain It seems that they sell bad batches of paint and it is luck of the draw whether you get a bad one Will definitely stick with Dulux in future

Bought 15 litres of premium from B Q

Bought 15 litres of premium from B Q Coverage is horrendous needed 4 coats and still patchy would never use again even if it was free Should not be allowed to be sold have refurbished loads of properties only used as customer wanted colour and she was told by B Q the coverage is as good as dulux what a joke But if you want to work twice as hard and get a bad finish feel free to buy it

Shocking paint

We have just had wall panelling and shelving built in our dining room I bought valspar premium eggshell from b q Thinking this would be a really good paint to use What a mess it s made It s been primed well but after 3 coats it s still showing through the drips are terrible and the paint is very watery yes it s been stirred and mixed I thought I had done something wrong so I ve purchased all new brushes and rollers then I looked at the reviews and it all makes sense now Il never buy this ever again It s totally ruined the new wood we ve just had put in All will need to be sanded and started again Can t tell you how upsetting this is I will not recommend to anyone

Poor Classic paint and horrible customer experience

I bought Valspar Classic in my local B Q but unfortunately had a ton of issues with the coverage and opacity After two coats on a primed ceiling and walls I could still clearly see the surface underneath I would have likely needed two more coats to fully cover the surface which wouldn t have been normal and I wasn t willing to spend twice as much money to get more paint and do 4 coats in every room Spent half an hour talking to B Q staff who were very understanding and ultimately agreed I ve done everything properly but said refunds have to go through Valspar My floors and furniture were due to be delivered in the next few days so B Q suggested buying premium trade paints then to finish the job and that there should be no issues in Valspar accepting the refund I ve now been exchanging emails with Valspar for over a week and it s almost like they hope you re a moron or don t have enough evidence by trying to catch you and blame everything else other than their shocking quality classic paint For example I submitted digital receipts but they wanted paper copies instead luckily kept those they wanted SEVERAL photos to prove the issues again luckily took those Then they wanted to see what primer I used what steps have I taken to prepare the surface and many more - just to for example in one email say Sorry we can t issue a refund because you used a different brand primer and we don t know if it s compatible with our paint even if both the premium and trade paints went on absolutely fine on that same primer later on Despite answering all of their questions providing all of the evidence to suggest it s their paint that s at fault they are still refusing to acknowledge this and issue a refund I purchased their premium and trade paints and remained their customer fixing the issues I ve come across with the Classic paint If they accepted these faults and issued my refund I would have gladly rated them highly because I didn t only fix my problems but they were also understanding in the faults of their cheapest product and did their best to rectify it However Valspar would rather die on the high ground blame the customer risk a negative review and lose that customer than offer a refund for a few quid I m renovating the entire house and despite Dulux being more expensive I know they have better customer support and standards of products and will be buying with them out of principle

Absolutely terrible paint

Absolutely terrible paint like many others I wish I had read the reviews before buying Bought Valspar Silk paint and am now on coat 5 on one wall The colour is still uneven and patchy and the wall marks so easily Utter waste of time trying to get even coverage and really regret the time and effort spent on trying to make the wall look good Will not be buying Valspsar ever again

Horrible coverage

Horrible coverage requiringlots of coat and the paint scratches very easily almost like if it was made of chalk This is especially true for darker colours such as Deep in the Abyss L24cW46c but maybe because scratches are just more visible Our contractors are pro so it is not an issue with prep or experience Avoid Valspar After receiving the standard reply from Valspar I am still waiting from them to reach out to me personally What happened is that it is just a bad quality paint at high price
