Went on Wendy Wu Jewels of Japan tour 27th Mar to 6th April 2023 very disappointing Bad airport pick up sub standard hotels awful food which was often cold Barely any downtime felt rushed no time to relax at all Arrangement for transfer to airport at end of trip was diabolical So stressful The tour wasn t the magical experience I was expecting for my once in a lifetime 70th birthday Total rip off The tour failed to deliver on any level Naturally after such a disappointing trip I complained when I got back but Wendy Wu treated my complaint with contempt Offered me 100 voucher off next holiday basically fobbed me off as if I would ever choose to travel with them again

We went on Wendy Wu tour Japan Uncovered in May 2023 This was meant to be a trip of a lifetime we were very disappointed The guide although very sweet had no understanding of how to manage a large group She rushed us along streets frequently losing us as some of us were held up at crossings The food was very sub-standard obviously cost cutting by Wendy Wu We were never given enough time at sites too many sights were crammed into a day When we arrived at our first hotel we were told that the was no meal for us and that we had to find our own food in a strange country at 9 pm in the evening There is no porterage at Japanese hotels our suitcases were lost for three days due to poor information on where to leave them In all a very disappointing trip Go to Japan but don t go with Wendy Wu

We visited some of the most Beautiful areas in Japan with Wendy Wu tours in May of this Year I have to say we paid a lot for our 50th Wedding Anniversary but was very Disappointed by the quality of the food The Hotels we stayed in we re really different but very nice The Tour itself was very interesting but far too many Shrines One thing I would say is the Guide we had was Amazing his name is Hajmi I m not sure how you spell his name but he was Great Over all Wendy Wu trips are great but Please the Food was Definitely not good

Booked through ROL but holiday was part of Wendy Wu package Went to Singapore as part of holiday and was put in a very substandard hotel We had to move rooms as the first room smelt of damp and mold All the corridors in hotel also smelt The restaurant was like a canteen and i was ill after having breakfast there Have complained to both ROL and Wendy Wu Wendy Wu haven t even acknowledged my complaint Definitely wouldn t book with them again

Having researched for a holiday for our golden wedding this year and on advice of our travel agent we booked in January last year 23 Airport hotels booked prior and after kennels booked holiday money bought etc Only to be told last July due to operational reasons with the Victoria Mekong ship our holiday was cancelled This then involved cancelling all above and a family celebration and rebooking a week earlier Booking two extra nights before holiday so we weren t celebrating our anniversary on a plane Guess what on 15 01 24 told our rebooked date has also now been cancelled As Wendy Wu part own the Victoria Mekong why has this happened Is it due to announcing they would be running seven night cruises not five like ours as part of our trip I believe it is and it is absolutely dishonest of Wendy Wu to do this bump you off to book others on board As I say this was for a special occasion which they have ruined Only giving us back our deposit What about having my money for a year and all the expenses for changing everything Nothing Do not trust this company they do not give a fig about looking after their customers If they can sell your holiday to someone else for more money

If you had a zero star I would have picked it What can I say This was my first Wendy Wu experience I will NEVER use them again I have travelled to many countries using small group travel as my default All have been positive experiences until now Japan a country I had been looking forward to experiencing was sadly compromised as a result Small group as promised No-28 people making it unwieldy with a consequent inability to go to smaller restaurants etc I had specifically asked for a small group tour-below 15 was the expectation I was sold an expensive dud Guide Below abysmal Didn t know her stuff Spoke appalling English Nothing about the culture the people no real detail about wherever we were visiting Was told not to ask questions Really She had to look everything up on her mobile on the bus trip Told in no uncertain terms where to sit in the often awful places we eat at because of my almond allergy Could not sit next to some of the lovely and equally dissatisfied people we met On one of the sections of the tour when we were on a short river cruise she abandoned two members when she couldn t find them We already had a guide on the boat now we had an extra one who knew nothing and took photos for herself They had no one The tour was expensive underwhelming and in no way lived up to expectations

As with many reviewers I have travelled with Wendy Wu on 3 previous occasions and have loved the tours In January I attended the holiday show in Manchester and spoke to the staff there I wanted an add on to the holiday and was assured this could happen and paid a deposit Hanna got back to me a couple of times and my holiday was sorted including everything I wanted I also paid for an additional flight I was reminded to pay and paid the remaining amount on 15th April received a confirmation on 16th and then my holiday was cancelled on 18th This holiday cost over 20 000 I was then informed that their systems couldn t pay me back immediately as it was too much I had to ring the company and I have received the full amount back This was my holiday of a lifetime I have received no further contact or apology I am extremely disappointed that a company I trusted should behave in such a way

Having travelled extensively and globally with 3 other tour companies I am extremely disappointed to record that in comparison Wendy Wu failed on many fronts to live up to their own marketing blurb Upon arrival at the first destination hotel in financial district we were informed that check in was 3 pm It was 12 noon and after 22 hours of travelling plus 9 hours time difference we were exhausted No representative on site We finally obtained room after negotiating an early check in fee The standard of food was appalling throughout the trip Food was repeatedly on the table upon arrival at the venues and clearly had been there for some time Generally it consisted of warm rice warm or cold miso soup bland assorted pickles and tofu In short the standard was far from what one would expect for 7000 Upon arrival at one hotel at 5 00 we were told dinner was 5 30 I have not had dinner at that time since I was 6 years old Long coach trips with no water provided no free time for relaxing or shopping and a large group of 28 Tour guides English was poor and I could continue Enough to say it was the worst holiday I have ever had could not wait to get home and what a rip off was so looking forward to Japan what a shame Wish I had read the reviews before I went We have contacted Wendy Wu who offered 200 off next trip as if I would ever travel with them again

Jewels of Japan - March 2024 Worst tour we ve ever been on Chaotic tour from start to finish Coach left twice without all the passengers and had to go back to pick up Really poorly organised Our guide had no idea how to be a guide and was totally oblivious to the expectations of people who were on the tour The guide didn t know the basics such as how to get tickets for attractions so there was lots of waiting around and constant changing of plans and timing causing lots of confusion Most frustratingly for us we learned nothing - guide gave no information about the places we visited history the food we were eating etc We were certainly not immersed in the culture and history as promised in the brochure The audio equipment which was issued with the expectation that there would be information about the places visited was for decoration only They were used once during the whole tour The only way we learned anything was to listen in to other tours We were pretty much dropped off at a location and left to make our own way round and learn what we could for ourselves This was certainly not the premium tour advertised and represented very poor value for money We would never go on another tour with Wendy Wu

Unfortunately 0 is not an option They changed the flights which meant an extra 8 hours travelling Would not give any refund after we cancelled either Hard to justify 700 deposit when no flights were booked no hotels were booked Avoid them at all costs many others that are better
