I have just been switch from my copper landline to BT digital voice I had some trouble getting my old DECT phones to work with the smart hub 2 but as they were so old I was happy to buy 5 new BT digital voice phones Big mistake I already have trouble getting WIFI to work throughout my house and have only been able to do so by using BT whole home disks I assumed that as the BT digital phones connect to the smart hub via WIFI that they would work anywhere in the house covered by the BT whole home disks It turns out that the BT digital phones will only work if they are connected directly to the smart hub they don t even connect through BT s new Complete WIFI disk which they ship with their new Halo packages This is very short sighted of BT they have provided products to give whole home WIFI coverage for sometime now Could BT not foresee that homes requiring BT whole home or compete WIFI disks would need these digital phones to be able to access these WIFI repeaters to work throughout the house Very disappointing

The changeover was carried out on the day so no comments there However I am really disappointed that my Alarm speech dialler no longer works and to be honest the line is worse that before with crackles reported by incoming callers I wish I had not been transferred as my copper line was great

Terrible trouble with initial set up Kept old phone as refused Bt one as numbers tiny The line is always crackling when talking It hasn t got better over time And a bad idear for elderly if a power cut should occur as phone won t work Not all elderly people have a mobile

I ve stopped using my landline
I ve stopped using my landline due to the new system coming in to my area soon I had to contact a lot of people in order to ensure that they all use my mobile number to call me I ve still got my BT broadband connection as I can access the social tarriff which is cheap and has been trouble free since it was installed over a year ago I have had problems with BT in the past and found customer service to be fairly poor so I don t intend waiting for the new system to start with it s many problems Although I m 81yo I m quite happy with tech and well able to deal with most issues Seems to me that the new system has more faults than advantages and is a retrograde step as far as telephony is concerned
