Significant delays with online dates which ruin cashflow can t recommend

I bought 2 bundles of miners from Compass Mining I am now in month 3 February and they have told me the mindes that were supposed to be live in month 2 will be delayed by a few weeks I need to pay the installments one month in advance hence I am now required to pay for my 4th month of the bundle which is 5 800 USD a month 23 200 and I have only had one miner online for 33 days Compass mining cannot keep their promises around online dates They are ruining my cashflow and send emails saying there is a delay be several weeks but remind us that we still need to pay our invoices on time I ve spent over 100 000 USD with this company and wish I had gone with another mining solution Can t recommend them

Legit company and have a decent

Legit company and have a decent reputation Heard they were owned by a public listed mining company I have a few S19 110th since april Always down and no one to help I don t know whats going on but you guys really need better customer support I wanted to buy more Z15 from you but the experience with my test order is not going well Waited for a contract for some time too sent like 4 emails to paul mcdermott and been told many times it will be sent

Be warned Save hassle invest in coins

They tell you one thing one day then another thing the next Be warned I have written documentation of when rig was to go online now changes again They changed location too So far the process seems like a scam would have done way better if I had just put into coin vs being part of this company that seems to take your money to then change things after you paid I understand the issues with supplies now but the email chain of different info they have sent just confused and created doubt

Great for hosting Not great for starting at-home

For hosting I m very pleased about things getting set up For communication and information on selling the at-home mining rigs I am less than impressed The customer service doesn t seem able to look at what country I am mining in even though the item has been delivered and they cannot assist more than referring to a 2-sentence information guide I asked a clear question after spending a considerable amount and did not get an answer close to satisfactory

Compass a cautionary tale - 7 of 13 miners up

Update 20 Oct Starting to feel a bit more hopeful They have kept my 7 of 13 miners running now consistently more than a month Upping rating Compass please don t respond actions speak louder than words Update Sept Ok 2 weeks after an nothing has been resolved apparently the issue is at their sites and Compass does not have control of the management teams Dropping rating Seems like at Compass one should have no expectations whatsoever but they are good at making sausages apparently - not so much on the mining side For other people reading this review my suggestion still currently is not too mine Bitcoin and rather just buy it However if you decide to do so anyways make sure you are aware of the risks and that you can afford to take it Don t depend on profit or even making your money back for that the price will have to seriously beat the hashrate again In my opnion it will again but the time to achieve this is a huge unknown Historic review below Now as at the end of July I have 10 of my 13 machines promised by end of December last year Of these 10 machines only 7 is running One thing Compass does right though is giving you downtime credits for machines not running But that is 6 machines I planned to have running which are either lost 3 of them and 3 with extensive downtime You have been warned Read other reviews as well and if it is negative there is a good reason for it They do make us sad and we are not unreasonable IT is just that there is no one at Compass reasoning with us Emails don t get answered except from sales you are forced to use to use the ticket system with Juniors who do not really know what is happening at the sites You will get an explanation of curtailment which will then turn later into to a fire at a nearby site June 2023 TLDR 5 out of 12 machines running missing deadline for all 12 on December 2022 Ordered Nov 2021 June 2023 I can now definitely well advise to just stay away from Compass Almost had 9 out of 12 machines when one went down less than a year of hashing Due to the extended periods of not bringing up the machine online moving the machine to another site and the electrical fault at new site the warranty has expired and I also don t know yet what the fault is after 2 months 3 machines down now for a week in Texas due to substation and another just went down in Manitoba This is not the mining company you are looking for April 2023 Finally some machines are up - almost 7 of the machines are running One keeps going down however and the other is in transit due to moving from one site to another - some contractual issues I understand Support very poor recently - no responses the last week on the one that is down New Year Update Happy New Year all 3 of 12 machines running one machine that was relocated still not up Did receive invoices for it though for the months it was not running and no downtime credits yet Bring rating down again

Avoid this company

My experience with Compass is pretty mixed I bought 2 miners last year knowing it would be a few months before they came online Purchase was easy enough and transaction went through smoothly When they opened their marketplace allowing customers to resell their miners I listed one of mine and sold for a premium on my purchase price My second miner was delayed coming online It was very hard to get info from customer service about what was going on The company has a very active Discord site where it s easier and quicker to get answers Eventually I was told my miner would go online at a different location at a future date still in the US but there was some confusion where customers where told via the company website dashboard it would actually be Canada this was then corrected but again took time to get the correct info to customers or I could resell on the marketplace At this point I lost confidence the miner would go online when I was told it would and also sold this one It s a shame as the concept of the company - bringing miners to the public who don t want to mine themselves at home - is a good one It just seems to me global supply chain issues with mining rigs have led to delays that have had a knock on effect on Compass s ability to fulfil orders If you re thinking of using Compass DYOR join their Discord group and chat to people on there it s definitely the best way of gauging if this is for you or not ETA with recent goings on the CEO quitting and numerous customers on Twitter complaining about rigs offline zero customer support and Compass closing its Discord channel the only way you could get quick customer support I have changed my opinion of Compass and would recommend NOT getting involved with them

Disappointed by the unprofessional handling of difficult but not unexpected situations

I have been a customer of this company for nearly two years now and I am very disappointed and regret having chosen them as a home for my miners When handling the whole Texas situation as a whole that is the delay in finishing the site in the first place in February 2022 with a huge delay in deploying the ASICs for mining maintaining power uptime and communication with customers it is a complete mess and seriously lacking management and organization skills I do not mean that in a sarcastic or ironic way that is my conclusion when reviewing my mail and ticket history And of course the many down times since the start of hashing When reviewing my tickets I can clearly see customer service is understaffed I am asking simple questions that have not been answered for 7 days and I have to actively ask for feedback to get only some unspecific answers referencing generic Site Updates posted on their website I still did not receive a satisfying answer to some of my questions Although they state that there is a monitoring service established one of my miners went offline and the Monitoring Team did not realize that for 7 days Is this a serious business When asking what was going on I received a we contacted our on-site team and had to wait for an answer for over seven days Compass Mining has now decided to refurbish their Texas 4 sites and relocate the ASICs If delaying responses is not intentional to stall customers like me this is definitely a sign of mismanagement I still don t have an idea where my miners currently are and I did not receive a rough estimate of when my miners will be cleaned or an estimated date when they will arrive at the backup facility and start hashing again Please be aware that when ordering hosting in Texas you may encounter the same mismanagement and problems yourself

I ve had continued problems with Compass Dishonest Company

Everything started out good at the start but since then I ve had continued problems with Compass Mining and through the process that has lasted 1 year now they have not met their commitments and promises I should have 7 miners mining and I have 1 Broken promises continuous delays and they are dishonest The hosting agreement itself removes Compass Mining from any responsibility that they have towards the customer due to facility issues or other I would recommend going with a smaller mining company that has good reviews that is not dishonest and slimy like Compass Going with Compass Mining has been the worst financial decision of my life Also I recommend referencing an independent Discord server called Compass Customers that comments on the problems and issues facing Compass Mining customers if you want more evidence to understand the issues this company has

A Year of Pain With Compass

Compass has been an ongoing pain in my life for over a year now First months of delays beyond what was promised in getting miners received and online resulting in lost income then a facility that went offline for nearly a month followed by a different facility having issues with its site requiring a move followed by a different facility deciding to no longer provide hosting for Compass customers requiring another move with a month of lost time With significant complaining and a lot of documentation credits for hosting can get issued but that doesn t make up for time lost hashing Billing isn t transparent - it took nearly four months to confirm one hosting credit - each time i enquired I was told I have escalated your ticket to the proper Finance team member and we will fully review your issue as soon as possible Communication is slipshod at best and at worst the company actively gaslights its customers e g changing outage histories on the company s site status pages I host most of my miners with a different company and the experience is 10X better than with Compass I was testing Compass hosting to see if I should move to them and very happy I didn t commit more DYOR Mining is challenging at best Compass is far from best

Their service model is particularly appealing for those lacking the technical expertise, time, or capital to build and manage a private mining operation.
