I was scammed in Menorca previously and was subsequently scammed at Kerry Airport by a scumbag there too I already had paid for excess insurance through Booking com but when it came to putting a 2000 excess deposit on my credit card amazingly my card was declined and I had to take out their policy too I wrote twice to customer services and was totally ignored The journalist I contacted advised that this was normal - when confronted scammers poo themselves and run for the hills like cowards Pure thieves As you can see from the garbage below - they ve completely ignored the content of my complaint as they did with my two emails I sent them

Don t rent from Hertz Dublin Airport Insurance fraud
What went wrong Mainly the fellow behind the desk didn t give us a choice but to purchase most expensive insurance or else go somewhere to another rental agency Insurance was 3x the cost of the rental We were so tired after an overseas trek that didn t have it in me to go down to Avis Not nice Hertz You lost a regular loyal customet and apparently many others in this thread

Never again
This will be my first and last timeever trying to rent with Hertz and will not be recommending to anyone else We booked and paid for the rental on their website read through their T Cs Then at pickup at the airport we are told that they have to put a 5000 hold on our debit card or credit card which we thankfully did not have I would expect that is something they would have been very upfront about and flag very clearly when you pay for the booking rather than the inconvenience of finding out that information at pickup The guy at the desk became super defensive when we said we read through everything and did not come across this information We chose to cancel and were charged a cancellation fee which was annoying and looks like we dodged a bullet judging by the ridiculously large number of 1 star reviews here

Dropped my car back to Knock yesterday
Dropped my car back to Knock yesterday and got the OK Just going through departures and receive an email with a photo of a chip on windscreen and 1028 euro taken from my credit card Clearly spotted after I left and could easily have happened in the heavily stoned Hertz parking area at Knock airport

Hertz Dublin is the worst rental company I have ever used
Hertz Dublin Booking Nightmare - Misleading Policies Zero Accountability and No Refund Booked a car with Hertz expecting a smooth experience What I got was a complete nightmare Here s what happened On October 25th I showed up at Hertz Dublin Baggot Street ready to pick up my reserved car I had my passport driver s license and Revolut debit card only to be told Revolut wasn t accepted When I asked why this isn t made clear on their website the agent showed me a WhatsApp message from his manager as proof and vaguely pointed to their terms and conditions which don t specifically list restricted cards But get this the manager had already left early for the weekend It wasn t even 5 pm and the one person who might be able to help was gone The agent told me if I took a taxi home grabbed my Bank of Ireland debit card and went to the Hertz at Dublin Airport I d definitely get my reserved car So after a wasted trip home I headed to the airport with my card and reservation details At the airport I explained the whole mess including my age 26 Then the airport agent told me the car I reserved was only available for people 30 years old I was shocked why didn t the website flag this when I entered my age during the booking I brought this up and she just shrugged saying they weren t responsible for the website She offered a much smaller car instead which wasn t what I d booked or wanted When I asked to speak to the manager some guy came over without introducing himself I explained the situation again and he flatly told me I couldn t take the car I d reserved I said I wasn t taking a smaller car and he dismissively said Don t take it then and walked off without another word To make matters worse the Hertz website was down so I couldn t even cancel After THREE taxi trips Baggot Street to my home my home to the airport and finally to Toyota Yuko where I managed to book a car last minute I was completely out of options Hertz not only wasted hours of my time ruined my weekend plans didn t give any refund compensation and left me with unexpected taxi costs and they refused to take any accountability Will never book a car with them and don t recommend anyone to do so

Dirty damaged cars Staff not interested
My recent experience at Hurtz Dublin airport is without a doubt the worst car hire experience I ve ever had The guy on the terminal desk was the rudest I ve ever come across charged us for perks that we should get for free as presidents circle status and then sent us down to a car that was filthy on the inside and covered with undocumented damage on the outside Avoid this location at all costs

Never rent from Hertz Ireland
Never rent from Hertz Ireland or Thrifty both run by the same company especially if you are contacted by John Barry Head of Sales for Hertz Ireland I made a Thrifty reservation through Expedia I was contacted by John Barry before my trip Thrifty screwed up my reservation so John suggested I cancel my Expedia booking and book directly with Hertz at the airport I did so and it ended up costing me 330 more because of Hertz s insurance requirements for foreigners I have State Farm insurance at home I asked for help from Hertz after the car was returned Received a standard the insurance rules are the rules response I have been a Hertz Gold member for 20 years and have never had a problem I had to leave the States to get bad customer service from Hertz Sad
