Invaluable support that made a difference

I am so grateful for the support I have received from Shaw Trust and wanted to express my gratitude to Ben in particular for his patience kindness and understanding I was referred to Shaw Trust in November last year for employment support I had experienced bullying in the workplace and was struggling with anxiety I felt I needed to look for another job but felt overwhelmed by the process and was lacking in confidence Ben worked with me to update my CV which I found really helpful He also checked in with me frequently to see how I was doing and if I needed any help Knowing Ben was there if I needed his support helped ease my anxiety When I found a job I was interested in Ben encouraged me to apply and helped to boost my confidence He made time to proofread my application and helped me to prepare for my interview Thanks to Ben s support I felt more confident than I thought possible going into the interview and as a result I was offered the job Ben s help made all the difference to me and I would strongly recommend Shaw Trust s services

An Inspiring Journey

I was sceptical about JETS I was unsure if I would obtain any benefit from this referral I have always been in senior roles and have never struggled with unemployment Ben Ward was an inspirational coach and I genuinely looked forward to our meetings he spoke to me with empathy and was diplomatic he gave me a sense of self worth and purpose We are all experiencing daunting and dark times but Ben was the light in said times The resources the support and guidance was rational empowering and the time devoted to make sure my family and I were as comfortable as possible was above beyond and heart warming The skills I have developed and the choices I have made are owed to his targeted advice and guidance and I am really excited and eager to start my new challenge in the next few weeks it will be tough but I believe in myself now and I can do this

A real second chance

For almost a decade I was jobless and felt completely unemployable and resigned to a bleak future if any My Universal Credit work coach let me know about Shaw Trust so I signed up with their JETS program and after years of unemployment it only took a number of weeks with their teams to find me a job offer - I started my first job in years this week because of all of their hard work guidance and teaching

Shaw Trust provide important advice and support when it s most needed

I was referred to Shaw Trust for advice when my employer informed me of being selected for redundancy whilst signed off for major surgery and recovery Thomas Barrow gave me excellent advice and equally importantly was kind and attentive to my emotional wellbeing at a very stressful time He is knowledgeable and helpful with it responds and advises very quickly and is a pleasure to speak to I am pleased with the outcome of my employment issue aswell My experience and review of Shaw Trust are very positive and I would recommend their services to anyone in need

I speak ONLY for Thomas Barrow I want it carefully noted that I speak only as a response to assistance by Thomas Barrow who helped me during a employment grievance process that I had to go through with my firm and wish to say that he is an excellent example of how people should be treated at Shaw Trust He really has a calm predisposition which helped me feel calmer too - I am the opposite I get quite passionate and loud - he has knowledge of employment law and is good at identifying what is best for you to do I felt lonely and was on the fence about the grievance but having him support me I knew I could do it He armed me with knowledge that made me feel confident to move on He checked up on me often and when I had panics last minute and called him he would pick up or call back pretty fast I can not speak for the other people at Shaw Trust but more people like Thomas would make the world of difference

This is an invaluable resource which I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to access as an Islington resident - during a very stressful time I have received reassuring empathetic and very sound advice to help me deal with the matter It s also great to know you have someone on your side if you re going up against an organisation on your own Would highly recommend

i was contacted by shaw trust after put on universal credit when i lost my job because of covid I was contacted every week to check i was ok healthwise and if i had any luck in finding a job i had two different support managers first was Jags and currently Mohammed who are very polite and professional and must be highly trained by the way they are handling people i even asked if i could get financial help for a course which was costly and they funded it all and added transport costs and paid for my licence too which wasn t cheap Hats off to Shaw Trust and their staff and management team i found them more professional than the universal credit staff
