Design flaws that could be fixed easily

I have arthritis on both knees so I invested in a Stiltz lift I like the product itself is great The installation went more or less OK It was in August last year so no problems with COVID etc The lift broke down once this year It jammed and I was trapped inside The phone provided did not work The simcard was faulty I don t blame Stiltz for that since the simcard was my responsibility However this exposed a very dangerous flaw for people like myself who live alone and could literally die of thirst being trapped in the lift I managed by bending down and squating to launch myself through the opening over the door lip It was quite frightening as going over I had to use my hands to stop my fall which I did I am in my 60s and arm fractures would have been quite debilitating There are two design flaws that could be easily fixed 1 Install a power cutoff switch from within the lift This should be behind a marked panel so that it is not accidentally triggered Once power is cutoff pressing the emergency button brings the lift safely to the ground floor and the door can be open 2 Install a transparent flip-open cover the emergency switch A few minutes ago while exiting the lift my right knee buckled and I accidentally hit the emergency button It s the middle of the night and in the middle of COVID The lift now continuously emits an irritating whine Probably a safety feature that assumes you don t live alone The thing cannot the turned off without accessing the panel above the lift Something which I will need Stiltz for All this avoidable just by installing the transparent cover

The saga of my lift fittting

I ordered the lift great told where it could fit great Waited sometime for a fitting date Stuart and John arrived to prepare the site they were great told I could not have it where I expected due to pipes they started work but could not carry on as there were no plumbers or electricians available finished early Next day they came back two it was raining two plumbers arrived they went in every room without covering there outside footwear electrician arrived there was a lot of work to do as the surveyor had not found a lot of the problems they encountered We had to go out in the evening but they had not finished as the fitters were booked for the next day I had to leave them with a key not ideal Day three the fitters arrived they were excellent at the end of fitting they told me the battery was dead and the charger wasn t working I was told they would last a couple of day s then someone would arrive to fit new one s I called customer service the next day they could do with further training they gave me a call out date eight hence I protested and someone came the next day Throughout the process the customer service was problematic they sent me invoices twice for 950 more than agreed one the second request I was asked who had notified me of the lower figure I told him he had it was duly resolved When people ask me about the lift I tell them the lift is great the fitters are excellent but the customer service leave a lot to be desired so two star s for customer service and five star s for fitting Keith

Poor administration good fitters and call out Not suitable for wheelchair invalids

I have had the largest Stiltz through floor lift installed for 6 month The initial administration was disappointing The staff were taciturn and it was difficult to talk to the same person twice As a result they made a mess of my final payment resulting in me having to pay twice once by bank transfer and then by cheque No money lost but inefficient The fitters were excellent hard working friendly and punctual We then had some teething problems but the call out system worked well including during lockdown My major concern is that the lift can not accommodate the Standard NHS issue SALSA MINI wheelchair without removing the rear neckrest and lifting the foot rest Even then things were tight with minimum width clearance Perhaps removal of the hand rail may be an optional extra and the key being moved higher up from the control section In any event it is necessary to back into the lift in order to close the door which is difficult The controls were also difficult for someone with weakened hands to hold down I understand the safety issues but perhaps a lever rather than a button may be an option The lift stopped on frequent occasions and never then descended to floor level as advertised As a result my wife refuses to use it In summary poor administration good fitter and call out but probably best suited to those still able to walk with strong hands and not for wheelchair borne invalids with reduced dexterity and strength

Poor service support despite extended warranty

Although there have been no problems with the lift which we are pleased with we are very disappointed with the lack of follow-up support despite taking out an extended warranty

long waited then quality and installation finishing issues

The below issues are solved but after 2 months of extra waiting for the part to arrive from overseas now the lift is finally working the way it should be with the long waiting and many communications and explanation I can confirm that it is not the easiest job to reach this stage though however I give A for their good and responsible technical team ------------------------------------------------------------The complained issues After almost one year of waiting for this company s lift to be ordered and arrive from China finally they come to install it when they said it is all finished they left the main electrical cable dangled loose from the top to the base of it and untighten screws of the middle main cover low quality all over

I made the order in June

I made the order in June After several delays the fitters made the ceiling apperture without checking for obstructions Replumbing a radiator solved this When the lift was declared ready it was not Weeks later I got stuck in the lift and luckily at 85years old I managed to climb out An engineer came and pointed out three things that had not been done It is October and now working Contact with the engineers is so difficult

Sad and disappointed

So first contact with Stilz sales team was great ones the contract was signed it has gone downhill from there started the process in July 4 technical surveyors later by the mid August we finally received technical report signed July 21st not sure why the other surveyors were there We paid second installment asap to move quickly Yet another surveyor visiting beginning of September finally got them booked for September 29th they started the job very neatly however it was in the wrong place the good news ones alerted they adjusted it immediately credit where credit is due although it was still not accurate We were then told the lift was being fitted Then several times in October it was going to be installed when they were finally on side they disappeared again Finally after lots of chasing they were booked in for today Guess what obviously it hasn t worked out again After chasing Stilz again the Customer Service Manager finally returned the call and they are refusing to fit the lift because it s too much of a building site Our project manager was twice on site today and spoken at length with the installer and he never mentioned this issue excuse We had an extension build it s the outdoors where stuff is still lying around but the indoors where the lift needs to be installed was made specially dustfree and left neat as requested I am really disappointed but most of all just sad My husband can t get upstairs without it installed and every time we get our hopes up come on Stilz work with me make it happen I would like this review to have a happy end and more start sooner rather than later
