placed an order on 25th March money taken immediately chased on 1st May got a reply on 12th May apologising and promising to email when despatch took place which never came lodged complaint on 19th May and finally today 30th June I have an email apologising once again and promising to chase their courier for a parcel that they seemingly they have not yet sent So Covid is indeed slowing things down but it is now over 3 months since I placed my order and Book People clearly have not got a clue what has happened to my order That in my book is INCOMPETENCE and seemingly professional incompetence at that

Like many others I have always had a really good experience with the book people But in the last week I have been contacting them on the phone to chase up delivery of my order I received 1 out of approx 20 or so books They advised my the rest of the books were in a separate parcel and gave me a reference number Hermes website keeps showing that they are still waiting to receive parcel from sender but book people are saying that they have already sent the parcel Whilst I would normally trust the book people over Hermes in this instance each time I call the book people I get given different dates on when the this parcel left the warehouse which makes me believe it probably never did make it out the warehouse Cutting a long story short I have just been advised on the phone today that warehouse is closed no more deliveries left to ship out This leaves me in limbo about whether my parcel will actually be received although it s looking highly unlikely

Not just me then order placed 9th March money taken immediately from PayPal Emails ignored phone rings and rings ring tone sounds like it s abroad I realise they have gone into administration but they shouldn t have taken orders they don t intend to send or at least only take payment if you re lucky enough to get what you ordered Love the way that you can t access your account with them too That to me is very wrong Reading some of the other reviews gives me a teeny glimmer of hope that my order will arrive 22 lost I fear tho

Ordered on 10 March first half arrived few days after the other half today 2 June They are not responding to emails at all Ridiculous Wrote a negative review before and I tough it s fair to update as after circa 3 months I received the books

It seems i am in the same boat as a lot of customers i ordered in March when they took my money but then kept hold of it and then last week received an email saying that Hermes are delivering it Hermes website says they are awaiting the parcel from the book people As much as don t trust Hermes i am not sure if it is their fault or the book people they are normally really good So disappointed i will not be receiving my things i have waited four months for and some were for my daughters school work next year sad i will not be able to order again

Like others ordered in March and on 17th June got an email saying they were to be delivered by Hermes Checked the Hermes tracking and it said that they were awaiting the parcel Spoke to the Book people staff a few times and they claimed that Hermes had failed to log them into their system and they were somewhere in a depot in Warrington They were helpful and still hoped they d be delivered but it was out of their control and Hermes weren t giving idea of what was happening Last week they advised me to ask for a refund which I did and have received They also said they didn t know how long they would be working thought last week would possibly be their last So if you can t get through you might try writing to the administrators though not sure of their address Sad for both customers and employees

Have now been waiting 10 week and still not received any of order I phoned up 2 weeks ago to be told wait another week and it should be dispatched waited another 2 weeks and still nothing I phoned again to this time be told wait another few weeks will be dispatched by the end of the month Its a joke to see people have been receiving orders who ordered after me Dont see why they arent being fair and fullfilling orders by dates placed

Always purchase my books from book people Usually excellent fast service Unfortunately due to current conditions I still haven t received my last order from the middle of February and despite emails it looks like they won t be arriving But I never give up hope I know under usual circumstances they would have dealt with my order

So the books finally arrived yesterday exactly 12 weeks after ordering however only the books that no one else wanted The three books I really wanted are now apparently out of stock and will be refunded we will see I appreciate the company has gone into administration and staff are doing their best but had I known I would have to wait this long to then find out my books are out of stock I wouldn t have bothered Having said that I will miss the Book People Good luck to all the staff

No longer in business Didn t get my books but I eventually got a refund
