High quality books at low prices

I ordered loads of books with this company They offered deep discounts So even though I had to pay high shipping charges I still saved a lot with The Book People I sorely miss the company

The Book People - Great company who will be missed

As a Book People customer for many years I wanted to post a review that reflects the general standard of The Book People pre administration Excellent choice value and customer service I have purchased over one hundred books each arriving promptly and pristine Any problem was always handled smoothly and efficiently My last 2 orders post administration placed in March did take almost 12 weeks to dispatch despite the 7 advertised But one has to have sympathise with any business that is in wind down after failing to survive leaving it with minimum staff who will be losing their jobs to fulfil honouring last orders Unfortunately my last order although dispatched did not arrive There has been a problem with mass final packed and shipped book orders on pallets not being scanned by Hermes and going missing I m afraid having had my own poor experience with Hermes this does not truly surprise me at all Their administrators have been trying to chase up Hermes I do trust the customer services reps who confirmed that this has happened especially since I received an email on dispatch which even processed a refund for a book out of stock at picking phase Unfortunately looks like their offices are now closed for good if you ring customer services Transpires as I had rang up about missing parcel some weeks back I have been automatically refunded For any of the reviewers below or other customers who did not receive their order and refund please try searching PWC The Book People in google search The Book People Limited - in administration should come up This link will allow you to send contact form to their administrators For matters that require urgent attention from PwC please click here I had done this before noticing I had been refunded automatically If you select The Books People Administration as company and give them a description of your problem and order ID hopefully they should get back to you in order to help facilitate remediation as I did actually get a prompt response I hope this helps other customers and genuinely sorry to see a company such as The Book People disappear

Standard order from 02 13

Standard order from 02 13 was shipped yesterday delivered today 03 14 I was worried about my order only because all of the books I ordered back then went out of stock since some weeks ago already I knew they would eventually got to processing my order but I was wondering if I would get the books or my order would be rejected since all the books were out of stock already They all arrived Great

One happy customer at least

Was worried by the reviews here so opted for 48hr delivery only about 5 more I was doing a big order so worth it Everything arrived within one day a really nice surprise Don t be too hard on the remaining staff it must be really difficult working conditions when many of their colleagues have already been made redundant Good luck to them all I say and thanks for sending my order so promptly And what a shame to lose such a good company

I placed another order

I placed another order since the last one the standard delivery times increased to 10-14 working days so I decided to pay extra for the speedy delivery I placed this order yesterday they shipped it the same day and hermes delivered it today I didn t expect it to be as fast I just thought it might give it a bit of boost so that it won t take 2-3 weeks at least but it s a pleasant surprise

People are leaving negative reviews due to long dispatch times but they don t know that The Book People went into administration last month so hence the mass sales Due to the increased orders caused by massive price reductions dispatch times are of course going to take longer and I m assuming they are starting to reduce their workforce too They are a great company so sad to see another great independent company go all because of Amazon etc

After I placed my order I found out thebookpeople is into administration thought I may never get my books Turned out they emaied to me that due to the high demand of orders the dispatch will be delayed and today I get my books People giving one star are two harsh these lovely staff are busy doing their jobs besides the discount is huge if you want fast delivery you shoud pay for fast delivery You cannot want too much at such low price Sad that they are going into adminstration

I am very sad that The Book People has gone into administration They had a fantastic selection of books at excellent prices Their children s book collections were such good value and affordable making quality books accessible to all I have always found their deliveries reliable I send good wishes to all their staff I sincerely hope that a rescue plan can be organised to secure all those people s jobs in Wales Best Wishes

I spent just 15 on my first order as I was worried this company wasn t legit I received exactly what I ordered and it was a massive amount of quality toys and books for my money A beautiful wooden owl puzzle was the favourite The package probably took over a month to arrive to be fair so don t expect things to arrive quickly I m not sure what people expect though with such discount pricing I m personally over the moon with my first order and have just done a second Fingers crossed this one is as good as the first

Long time customer

Being a long time customer of The Book People I was delighted to see the bargain prices and sent off an order on Monday which would take four weeks After the Coronavirus lockdown on Monday and then reading the reviews on here I became concerned about delivery so phoned to check if they are still in business Although I had to wait twenty minutes to speak to someone I was reassured that all orders are going ahead but to be patient I have every confidence in them because I have always found them to be reliable and honest and look forward to receiving my books
