North-West Tough Mudder
North-West Tough Mudder - Corporate Team I recently completed the North-West Tough Mudder classic with a group of around 20 colleagues We had the most amazing experience from start to finish Everyone at Tough Mudder was so unbelievably helpful while we were organsing the booking of our team entry which made the whole process so much easier The day itself was a lot of fun I was quite nervous about doing it but this instantly subsided when I arrived Everyone staff volunteers and entrants was so friendly and happy to help which helped put me and everyone else at ease It was amazing how supportive everyone was I really felt well looked after and like I was part of a wider Tough Mudder community while I was completing the course Just as you start to feel as if you are struggling to complete an obstacle there s always a helping hand reaching out to you to help you along the way I strongly believe that this awesome community spirit is predominantly the result of the positive culture encouraged by Tough Mudder - you are told and continuously reminded that you are not there to compete against each other but to complete the course together The obstacles really were world-class There was such a wonderful variety of imaginative obstacles on the day I couldn t fault them - besides disliking the electrotherapy although that s just a mater of personal preference in my dislike of being electrocuted One area I do believe needs improving is the amount of waste generated by this event There was so much plastic wasted in particular which was a huge shame I would like to see Tough Mudder become a little bit more aware of the impact these events have on the environment and make changes to the way they do things to improve this For example the ice for the Arctic Enema obstacles all came from what looked like supermarket bags of ice which would have generated a huge amount of wasted plastic packaging considering the amount of ice required to keep this obstacle as cold as it was

Autism Friendly - Manchester - Denny is a superstar
We went to the tough mudder today at Manchester My daughter has autism so I was a little nervous about how she will cope and what will I do it she has a melt down as this was the first time my daughter went I was informed at check let the staff know at the start line and they will let me on the course with my daughter to help her as it was bound to be much more challenging for her compared to the other kids taking part to my surprise while waiting at the start up line a lovely lady named Denny came up to me and asked if I was ok and how my daughter was doing She was made aware by the team of my daughters autism and wanted to help I didn t know what the helped looked like so I said yea please I would like any help you can advise me off After you this the lady got busy supporting the rest of the team and starting the race As the announcement was made and the warm up begin the announcer mentioned my duaghter by name and said a big good luck to her Within a few minute of starting the race my daughter was getting overwhelmed and not doing the wrong way but still trying to participate Denny reappeared and joined in and took over on helping my daughter She literally took my daughters hand and helped her with each obstacle She was ever so calm and kind and responded to my non verbal daughters gestures with a lovely smile My daughter smothered mud all over Denny but Denny was always responded with a smile We managed a complete the race and was ever so surprised how Denny even helped my duaghter get cleaned up after Though mudder Manchester was absolutely brilliant and Denny was a super star Only found out towards the Denny she was also the organiser and Designed the course She has a love for SEN and happens to be a SEN teacher she explains how she hen designing the course she had children of SEN in mind We will be going annually and if anyone has autistic children please give it a go
