"There s a reason people pay sitters to watch their homes and pets This is becoming not worth it to do these sits for free anymore"
This used to be a great way to book pet sits and house sits but lately it s become not worth it to do the sits for free I don t know if it s the economy or Trusted Housesitters is attracting a different level of clientele but a good part of the sits I do now there are issues with the homes On Thanksgiving at the sit I was just at the well pump died so there was no water the entire day Not a great way to spend Thanksgiving Another sit I had to evacuate with 3 cats during a fire The home owner failed to mention they lived in a high risk fire zone when they booked me only telling me this when I showed up for the sit It s not all bad I ve had some great sits with lovely generous home owners and great pets but the level of maintenance on some homes has dropped dramatically setting the stage for the sitter to have to deal with repairs Another sit I did before that the battery went in the alarm big battery at 8 00 at night and the alarm company told me I d have to replace the battery or the system would keep resetting every 6 hours and go off I had to drive 20 min to Home Depot in order to buy the correct battery if I wanted to be able to sleep through the night I had one sit where the woman had 6 animals 2 of which need insulin shots 2x a day These sits really do need to be paying a sitter to watch their homes and animals There s a reason people pay sitters to watch their homes and animals A lot of work and unseen issues can arise at house sits and you need to deal with them as they do Homes naturally need maintenance and pets need to be cared for some given medication and other issues can pop up I have all 5-star reviews because I commit to doing a great job for the owners and the pets I love animals but I ve now listed with a paid service

"good idea bad ui"
great idea to connect sitters and apartments but the messaging ui is terrible terrible terrible spend some of the 140 i gave you and fix your website make it clear which messages are read remove or indicate applications that didn t work out show me the most recent message from each person link directly to the conversation in the email notifications you send

"Poor customer service"
Poor customer service Automated service won t do Although they allow you to choose currency of payment they will charge in USD no matter what Follow up with their customer support was little to no help There are no clear guidelines for poor communication of people The ones offering the house sit not all but some were very rude It feels like they accommodate people offering the house sit as in they are their real clients because the website does not offer possibility to rate them if not chosen Eg People setting up appointments and then ghosting you Honestly just text saying otherwise

"The five applicant cut off is very "
The five applicant cut off is very unfair to the majority of the house sitters Many of the notifications I get for my favorites with new dates do not have any current dates or have been paused because of the 5 applicant rule When I have received the notification It appears the notifications are very slow to be sent and received

"In am not happy with so Called Trusted "
In am not happy with so Called Trusted House sitters- I have hardly had any replies to my posting in fact no one suitable from the uk I have invited over 28 people from their so called pool of people but all of those not available or don t sit anymore I have sent emails to their customer support but up to now not received a reply- I am giving them the opportunity to put matters right So Trusted House Sitters refer to my complaint and deal with it now my request 904181

"Let down every time "
We have only used THS 3 times but have been let down on each occasion We were lucky and managed to get last minute sits for 2 of them with lovely people but we have just been let down again the night before our holiday Unable to leave a review for the sitter that let us down Sarah from Bristol Don t feel we can rely on this service when uou really need it and won t renew

"beware of theft"
Most of the sitters are wonderful However Naomi B New Chapter took some of my belongings and wouldn t return them Trusted Housesitters finally was able to reach Naomi B New Chapter get her to return them after me trying for several months HOWEVER Trusted Housesitters wouldn t remove my review which I wrote before I realized that my stuff was gone New Chapter wouldn t answer my emails or calls So BE CAREFUL Someone taking belongings from your home isn t a reason to remove a review according to Trusted Housesitters

"good idea questionable execution "
this is a cool idea for a platform and i have definitely encountered synergies however the ux is mid at best policies are highly questionable e g silly review structure that incentivizes skewed feedback and customer service while pleasant is largely unhelpful i ve had two sitters at my house conducted two sits of my own and conversed with many people on the platform i ve had more letdowns and bad experiences and been completely unsupported by the platform not for lack of reaching out than positive ones will likely not renew my membership and would advise some critical thinking and significant expectation management before purchasing one of your own

"Nightmare experience after many good ones"
While most of our experience with TH has been great there was one time when it failed us horribly I turns out that they allow their pet sitters to double book and overlap many days We learned this the hard way after our pets were left abandoned for days with only overnight coverage They were left alone for 12-13 hours during the day with no access to use the bathroom One of our dogs is a high energy 18 month old large puppy so regular outings and companionship are essential Months later our dogs now have abandonment issues freaking out when we leave It was a horrible experience and finding last-minute substitute care during easter week took days of us having to listen on our security cams to our dogs howling and barking non-stop As hard as it was on us you can imagine how traumatic it was on our pets I was shocked to learn that TH actually allows this double booking so that couples can overlap their stays There is nothing to stop a single sitter to abuse this policy Owners instal security cams and proceed w caution

My pet sitter Annaliese May from NZ was a total user and left my house dirty I was also informed from neighbours she had a guy stay over after i specifically said no one is to stay She broke a couple of things used up pantry items body wash and laundry wash after I her asked to replace staples Had permission to use my car but left it sandy and no petrol top up Not even a thank you A total user My problem with Trusted House sitters is she had already removed her account before I could leave a review the next day Seems like she knew she did the wrong thing This means she can do this again I ve discussed this with the company and they can t do anything I suggested they don t let anyone who uses their site to close their account until reviews are done Maybe a couple of days But they can t do that either Therefore they re not a Trusted site
