OK in the end

Took way too long to schedule a pick up and then to get documents Everyone we spoke to was friendly and polite but the system seems overwhelmed Our vehicle was not a junker and this influenced the process to some degree

Rapid Pickup with no hassles but slow final donation let

Not as smooth as I had expected

All the interactions we had online with the Vehicle for Veterans representatives were good Thorough and informative The part I was not happy about was the pick up The person who came to get the car was nice enough but didn t show any identification no business card and had no paperwork for the transaction I felt like I was literally just giving some stranger my car keys and title as he drove away hoping it was all legitimate It was very unsettling We had owned that car for over 22 years so it was quite special to us If there is some way to improve that part of the process then I would recommend that

Almost seemed shady

Most of the steps were fine except when the tow driver picking up the vehicle refused to give me any details when asked who to transfer the title to He appeared agitated when I pressed him for the information I nearly declined to let him take it but took numerous pictures of his tow truck business name license plate and the driver When he left I immediately contacted VFV where a representative gave me all the information needed for title transfer That info should be provided up front to prevent the appearance of something being very suspect like I experienced
