We cannot recommend Avis Dublin for car rentals We had an automatic passenger van reserved when we got there they tried to switch it with a manual sedan They tried the same switch with two other families with whom we travelled We told the representative that they had the wrong car for us so they switched it with a manual van Said there were no automatics available - even though we had one on reserve according to the phone rep The car had bad tires the tire indicator was constantly going off We had to take time from our vacation to get the pressure checked were told the tires were all in bad repair On day 6 of our vacation we got a flat tire Had to take another 2 hours from our time to have it repaired We were told by an Avis representative that if we paid it up front and brought the receipt in they would reimburse us They now refuse to reimburse us the 190 for the tire repair On top of that the washer fluid tank was empty which shows that they don t even do the most basic of maintenance on their vehicles We will never use Avis Budget for rentals again and we recommend that anyone considering renting a car from them look further for an agency that maintains their vehciles properly and won t try to cheat their customers

The 1 star is for the nice staff Avis is woeful didn t have the car i ordered they actually don t have the car i order at all so i got a smart car uncomfortable slow and was useless going up hills Of course the sat nav has been disabled over their fleet of cars so if you need one be prepared it will cost more than the car rental what a con If you are going for more than a couple of days just buy a sat nav it will be cheeper Just a horrible experience don t use

I have had many car rentals in different locations around the world - but on both occasions with Avis in Barcelona Airport they have scammed overcharged for extra s or damage to the car rental thankfully I had taken pictures and video - and despite multiple emails to customer service there is no answer Do not rent a car from Avis Budget in Barcelona

My Avis account is in Ireland and issue I have I m trying to resolve where account is located but problem with Avis Germany - Hamburg Hidden charges - location surcharge of 79 not mentioned anywhere in t c Sorry Alice but Avis is damaging its business not me Avis is also damaging customers budget with hidden charges described as manadatory - see below Avis Ireland response clarifing it is for all locations Again nothing about this charge while booking the car Thank you for your email I have investigated your query The location surcharge is a mandatory surcharge at all Avis locations which is non refundable Kind regards S Avis Customer Service Ireland

STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND FOR ALMOST A YEAR BOOKED THE CAR CAR WAS NEVER GIVEN TO ME I PAID FOR A TAXI 200 AT 2 AT NIGHT TO GO HOME FROM THE AIRPORT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT THERE AVIS AGREED TO GIVE ME A REFUND BUT NOTHING HAPPENED SINCE LAST YEAR SEND LOADS OF EMAILS THEY DON T EVEN REPLY UPDATE I WILL NOT REMOVE THE REVIEW AS IT WAS BOOKED FROM IRELAND AND IM A RESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY AND I HAVE SPOKEN WITH YOUR CUSTOMER SUPPORT MANAGER AND HE TOLD ME I WILL GET MY REFUND IT NEVER HAPPENED AND STILL AT LEAST HE CAN HAVE SOME DIGGNETY TO REPLY TO MY EMAIL

I now have had a very curt reply from someone else at Avis in Ireland without a title saying that this matter is now closed My argument is not that I must agree with their terms and conditions just that they are too well hidden on the UK web site to know what they are They are also almost impossible to comply with especially within 24 hours Nothing said on my booking confirmation either Avis in ROI should prevent this from happening and not make client s Irish holidays a disaster This Avis rule for the over 75s does not seem to apply in Norway France Germany or USA just to name a few I have not searched any further The Irish T C three times spell Dublin with a small d and then try to be helpful by pointing out Irish bank holiday dates in 2016 and 2017 Clearly their rules are not reviewed and are out of date

Charged me for damage to a car that I did not do Cost they charged for accused damage was disproportionate customer service just awful avoid this company particularly be wary as the don t joint inspect car on arrival or departure

Avoid this company Budget Avis Got charged huge amount for a nearly invisible scratch to the car that I was not aware off Staff at pick up used the wrong credit card not the one I used to do the online booking with so no insurance coverage After sale customer support most unsupportive and unfriendly

This was the worst car rental I have ever had The cost was exorbitant the service dismal and the car was high mileage with almost every panel chipped or scratched The registration show on both the contract and key fob was different to that of the car which made finding our car difficult When I returned to the airport the agent just gave me a dumb smile when he told me that he knew of this problem

Upfront payment for the car asked if I wanted the car to be insured of course I said yes Was told the amount I was paying at the time would be fully refunded Guess what not all refunded Cost of the car hire doubled due to services I never asked for contract unclear Avis hiding behind the contract as the costs being valid Underhand sales tactics and not a fair customer experience
