About 1 1 2 years ago I spent 2k to purchase and install Bimmer Tech s Vivid Screen Smart View and backup camera for my 2015 BMW 328i Everything seemed fine until it wasn t Within a year the screen constantly reset itself to the point where the radio cut out and Bluetooth calls were dropped I originally thought it was the head unit but ultimately discovered that the screen was the problem Eventually the dealer had to bring everything back to original spec While I did approach Bimmer Tech after the 1 year warranty expired I had been dealing with the issue long before it had In the end after spending close to 3k I have nothing to show and all Bimmer Tech could do is offer me 10 off a future purchase While they are responsive my experience with their product and their willingness to offer a meaningful resolution were horribly disappointing

Be Aware Stay Away Unless
If you own a BMW without the factory installed Apple Car Play you should know that if you purchase the aftermarket version through this company every time your dealer has to service your car it will wipe out your 399 purchase and you will have to spend an additional 75 to 140 to get it back Stay away from this product unless you re willing to pay about 2K or more depending on how often your idrive system must be reset for service Wonder what kind of back room deal resulted in this consumer fleecing scam I have increased my rating to 3 stars in appreciation of your response and your offer to discount the re-coding cost how do I take advantage of the discount My overall experience is still somewhat jaded by the facts that while the issue was not caused by your company the customer is ultimately still left holding the bag and the service reps I spoke to were quick to tell me I had to pay to fix something that wasn t my fault either BMW SERVICE department gave me a different impression than the typical scenario you provided and my car s system has already been reset four times in two years My wife s 2020 model has been reset twice in less than a year fortunately BMW decided to include ACP from the factory for this model year Your consumers can decide for themselves but ideally you shouldn t have to risk multiple payments for something that should be a one-time payment product

SiriusXM coding for mini cooper
I purchased the SiriusXM coding for my Mini Cooper and the coding process were for the most part pretty straight forward and didnt take too long These guys definitely gets the job done The part that makes me give 3 stars instead of 5 was the fact that the technician was very condencending and left me stranded in a way towards the end In the middle of the coding session the Enet cable didnt connect correctly and instead of asking if the cable was connected correctly or if i got the right cable tech asked Did you see the instructions before this session Did you see the instructions AND understand it completely only after i asked what s wrong i was informed the cable seems to not be working which by the way worked once i wiggled it in several time And at the end of the session after i said thank you the program was still showing clearing errors please wait for quite some time and i asked if i should wait or disconnect since everything seems to be working and i received no response and after waiting for several minutes i decided to unplug everything and close down the session so technical knowledge 5 stars communication definitely need some work

Product shipped quickly Very good instructions Now that it is installed it will not work Radio works the same Nothing happens when I press and hold menu button for 3 s on the iDrive controller I have started a ticket with them I am not confident as before when radio didnt work Bimmer-techs 150 consultant could not diagnose problem Turned out to be a bad amp So I got a reply from them They communicated with me but I did not see it however they do their communication Now I have a replacement amp from Bavlogic that was coded for my car Everything works except the Bimmertech MMI When I have time I will take photos of the connections as they asked So maybe buy a screen that does CarPlay instead of the MMI

Wont ship product Okay here is an update More of a lack of info then anything else Lead time for shipping the remote start was 7 to 10 days They had a supplier issue and could not ship I had to initiate most communication and was not told of the supplier issue Could have been more patient if they had let me in on it So I asked for a refund and hit this site Low and behold they wanted to give me a tracking number saying it would not take long to get to me Shipping from overseas by the way I had already decided I have done without a remote start all my life and am good with that They offered a 5 discount which was nice to offer but kind of low ball Long story short probably good equipment just not great communication So I rescind the won t ship part just should have let me know about the supplier issue Update Got my refund but only after waiting a week and calling and inquiring Said it was processed already then low and behold that day I get a notice refund was processed Overall satisfied with resolve Most if not ALL of the contact was started by me Thanks

I ordered a front-facing camera and did not know it was not compatible with my Andriod unit Unit Contacted Bimmer-Tech and explain the retrofit front camera was not compatible and can I return it for a refund The Technical Support Adrianna Kindziuk assisted me in getting back my refund 20 less restocking fee This is what I call great quality service and will use them again

Overall pleased with my Apple CarPlay
Overall pleased with my Apple CarPlay activation via remote coding on my 2018 X3 My initial coding session didn t go well as I couldn t establish a connection with the car After troubleshooting my USB port RJ45 ethernet cable adaptor coding cable and car s OBD port it turns out the Bimmertech coding cable was defective I ended up buying one off the internet in order to save time and schedule another session The second session went seamlessly and everything works perfectly but they have been slow to respond in my request for a refund of the 50 coding cable

Decent service but a bit overpriced
Ordered enhanced bluetooth coding pack recently They took a while to email back - there is no automated email service after you order but within a couple of days I got my link through to do the coding myself Walkthrough guide was clear and comprehensive Could have been 5 stars but I put 4 due to the high price I since found out other companies are offering this service at less than half the price

The BimmerTech MMI Prime is overall a great product I did knock a star off because of my experience with both installation and connection to Android Auto with an older Android phone as well as an apparent known issue with the front view camera I have this installed on my 2014 BMW 335i M Sport xDrive Manual Transmission with navigation and Harman Kardon surround system Installation MMI Prime Instructions provided and indicated on the YouTube video were for the smaller head unit I needed to ask for a different set of instructions for my larger head unit as well as an alternative location for the MMI unit Front View Camera instructions and YouTube video were for a standard bumper I have the M Sport bumper so an alternative location was needed Compatibility with Android Phones I have an older Samsung Note 9 with Android 10 Connection to the interface was not consistent and often drops Luckily I have a newer work phone a Samsung Galaxy S22 with Android 12 It works more consistently with this new model phone and the sound is much better List of compatible phones on the product site should not include the older phones because of this Front View Camera operation with Android Auto There is a known issue not indicated in the product site The front view camera does not activate when Android Auto is operational The screen is black after shifting out of Reverse You would have to manually activate the camera Only works with the factory system IF Android Auto is not active Customer Service This I am VERY IMPRESSED with Both Mikolaj and Patryk are very responsive Patryk helped during the installation And Mikolaj has been very helpful working through operational issues He assured me that he would keep me posted on the software upgrade that will include the fix for the front view camera issue

I ve had my CarPlay MMI installed and running in my 2015 X6 for about a month now and couldn t be happier with it Installation was really straightforward and took about 2 hrs from start to finish Any questions about the device were quickly and clearly answered before I bought it and when I was ready to install it The PDF instructions and YouTube video for the installation were terrific I recommend it highly
