Saturday s outboard motor course

Michael was very helpful and the hands on experience of dismantling parts of outboard engines that I had never seen before was very valuable Three of the four people at the course had Yamahas They are popular and it is a pity you don t have a Yamaha as a demo eg a 9HP or 15HP Michael was not and could not be expected to be an expert on Yamahas as well Thank you for providing coffee tea and milk You did say that lunch is not included but not how difficult it is to get it so with hindsight we should all have brought our own sandwiches

Quality Instruction with plenty of practical scenarios

Have taken several courses with Chieftain Training and will consider returning for more All RYA STCW yachting boat related

An informative day

The course was comprehensive and well run by John the instructor John was engaging knew his stuff and delivered an informative day I have not given 5 stars for the following reasons The premises are a little tired and the engine classroom a bit of a dungeon with no windows To be fair I understand a move in location of the school is being planned I also thought that the on screen presentations power point etc were a little lacklustre Often they just mirrored what was in the RYA workbook and there were no animations of working diesels or associated systems which would have helped the students and probably the instructor as well

Quality Instruction Powerboat Course

Good location quality instruction rail station close by on water training location is very good as lots of traffic and shallows which is great for training and experience Downsides you have to pay for oil skins in advance then were not used Most RYA schools include oil skins FOC The washroom needed maintenance and was not very clean Overall very good as was my previous course with Chieftain

Good course content

Excellent amount of content but sometimes a little hurried due to lack of time It would have been better to have an extra half day to make lectures and lunchtime a bit longer however I have learned alot and it was definitely worth the money

Good customer attention

Course content very good and well presented by instructor Concerns about hygiene at the pool facilities were put to rest promptly

Doug the owner was an amazing guy nothing too much trouble Possitive upbeat and knowledgeable to the highest standard and very real time person Doug really excelled in his ability to make an almost impossible time frame happen I am truly grateful The boat and equipment and classroom was of exceptional standardI would recommend Doug to all my boating world going forwardA very beautiful thank you also to the Instrutor and examiner Rya for making me feel at ease truly surpassed expectation And lastly a big thank you to the crew who skippered as well for me on the night x especially as they had never been in Southampton waters and stepping in at the last min thank you

An excellent 12v marine electrics course Learned loads helped by putting much into practice as we progressed

The RYA Diesel course and the level 2

The RYA Diesel course and the level 2 Diesel Maintenance course were excellent especially as a combined 2 day course Our instructor John was extremely knowledgeable As a an absolute Diesel engine novice I felt I greatly benefited from the course Many thanks Paul

Could not be better

I came here from continental Europe for the third time after having taken here three instructor courses I guess that there is no better recommendation
