A neglected and shabby place

The Leatherhead crematorium is sadly neglected and generally scruffy as a building The chapel decoration is in need of an update the sound system defeated many better ears than mine and unexpectedly at the end of the service the curtain did not close before the mourners departed via the area via the side exit Not seen that before The interior signage is poor and in some cases out of date ladies loo sign about closing the lid before you flush as a Covid precaution was out of date many months ago Outdoors the wooden Greek pillars and their temple roof are rotten and the wood flaking away This is a potential safety hazard Further along the bare concrete wall sections are discoloured and mildewed where once they were whitewashed The car park is a minefield of trip hazards flowerbeds have been removed but the edging stones left some large holes carelessly infilled with stone rubble Initially we followed the signs to the overflow car park as we needed to stretch our legs after our journey We never found it As a departure point it had the sad aura of an unloved and fading asset

Slow to respond to change requests

I recently took out a plan with Dignity and needed to make some amendments You can t do this yourself on their website like adding a funeral director or changing a song to be played You are reliant on Dignity doing it for you by emailing them Over 6 weeks later and they still haven t done so I also pay in instalments their website doesn t show what you ve paid so far and what the balance is which would be helpful So far not so good

Week prior to the funeral

Although the funeral itself was finally well arranged it took a whole week of telephone calls to get things to run smoothly Flowers not ordered rectified and the flowers on the day were beautiful the draft for the Order of Service was printed on a blank sheet not the requested template this was rectified satisfactorily and was perfect the date of the funeral was not confirmed with me and had to be changed lack of response to telephone calls so had to leave message and wait for ring back after one month no contact regarding ashes The funeral went well and very smoothly but we could have don with a harrowing week leading up to it

Dreadful admin

When Prosperous Life went into administration I was sent to Dignity They were more expensive so I waited a while before deciding whether to transfer However they are unable to trace my details even their reference number The decision has been made by them

Lockdown rules not adhered to

Attended my sister s funeral on Monday 15th June 2020 at Bushbury Crematorium Wolverhampton Funeral director failed to enforce the social distancing in the chapel Taken me two emails to get a response No apology just excuses as they don t really care now as they have had their money Very expensive nearly 7000 Many services charged for are not even allowed under Lockdown regulations Think twice before using what was Jennings funeral directors but now part of this group

Somewhat disappointed that I was given

Somewhat disappointed that I was given contradicting information about what happened to may fathers remains The undertaker told me the remains had already been scattered at the agreed location while later I got letter from crematorium asking if I wanted to collect them When I called the crematorium I was informed they were still there Basically I have no real confidence in whether our wishes were carried out or not

Has anyone dealt with Dignity from

Has anyone dealt with Dignity from their previous plan with Prosperous Life My mum is trying to find out how much of her money she would get back if she cancelled but nobody at Dignity can give her an answer- this is not a good service

Too many errors during a grieving period

Funeral directors changed the agreed date invoice incorrect huge deposit required two days after first consultation advised to pay invoice using deceased s debit card- believe this may be illegal - incorrect costing for resident or non resident burial On the day it all went well but too many errors before and after funeral
