Car was in a bad condition outside

Car was in a bad condition outside smelt over powered by air freshener which was covering a strong smell of cigarette smoke which wasn t ideal travelling with a 3 year old One wheel was already blinking low pressure when we left the parking after picking it up The engine was way underpowered for an SUV and not a pleasure to drive Not a great rental but we have had positive rentals in the past with Europcar

Thieves Never again

Took a pre auth which actually just debited almost 800 which apparently may now take a week or more to return Never again Should have stayed with Hertz -Update - following their response I then sent an email and received the below Dear customer Your question has been submitted to our Customer Service and you will receive a reply within the next 7 working days Thank youEuropcar--It s like they re desperate to go out of business Complete joke

Complete rip off at the desk They add extras in without discussing prices with you and when you ve opted for full insurance cover already you assume things like roadside assistance are included in the package They re not Because the debit on your card includes an insurance indemnity you don t know how much of the actual debit is the cost of the hire No wonder the industry is considered as disreputable - it is

Way too slow upon check-in and also check-out Cars are very poor despite having paid for a compact class Europcar has dropped the ball many years ago and after 15 years using them they never even recognised my loyalty whatsoever Europcar need to be way more pragmatic and efficient on service and get much more comfortable vehicles

Aggressive upsell practices

Aggressive upsell practices During checkin I was over sold and mislead I raised a complaint with Europcar and was offered a discount on my next hire I refused the offer and will no longer be using the company Be careful when checking in don t let the representative lead you into a false understanding and you ending up with an additional charge In regards to Europcar reply I don t see the point of the vanilla reply maybe you should have read the message instead of copying and pasting a default reply this shows that you don t actually care I ve already raised the complaint so why would I do it again

100 deposit

Had a great experience with regard for car but subsequently charged over 90 insurance premium that I refused when hiring They have taken this payment from my 100 deposit I have emailed them for a refund so depending on their response this review will turn into a 5 or a 1 Stay tuned Update in response to the reply from Europcar I have managed to block the payment so rather than me running around trying to sort this out I guess that your guys will be contacting me soon

I have to agree with the negative reviews

I have to agree with the negative reviews on here Staff at the Woodford Green branch were very friendly and helpful however I have been charged 102 after returning the car Tried calling Customer Service but they pretended they didn t know anything about the extra charge even though I provided evidence via email I can t afford to lose 102 so if anyone reading this also can t afford to lose money then use another car hire firm UPDATE Europcar contacted me after I had made several contacts with them to say the 102 had been charged in error as they had me down as a no show - how on earth is that possible Thank you to Europcar for sorting this relatively quickly but I would still be extremely nervous about renting from them again

Outrageous damage claim from Europcar

Everything was great until the lady at Avignon Courtine identified some damage to the rear door of a panel van Tiny damage - one of the items looked like dirt to me Europcar have confirmed that the van continued to be available for hire The bill was more than 1 000 I found this massively over the top They were slightly chaotic in responding to enquiries but my beef is with the outrageous sum I feel like the victim of an organised scam I ve been mugged and it s frustrating

Europcar Montpellier airport scam - updateFollowing my complaint of 14 August I received a reply from the Europcar team asking me for more details of the scam charge I went to the link provided which only took me to their website and gave them every possible bit of info they would need This was done on Saturday 17 August and guess what No further communication from them at all They can t get away with putting extra charges on customer s credit cards for no reason at all so tomorrow I call my CC provider and will dispute the transaction As I said on my last review - it s appalling and unacceptable behaviour by Europcar
