Unhappy with rental procedure

I was given my handover invoice to show pickup time as 10 15am but I had to wait a further 30 minutes before my rental vehicle was released as it was still being valeted However my pickup invoice still showed the intended time 10 15 and not the actual time 10 45 Unfortunately I was unable to stay to have this adjusted as I needed to get home to pick up my family to go out I did mention this to the employee who handed me the keys and he assured me he would tell the booking person on the front desk to amend my release time but nothing was amended It may seem petty but if I have paid for a full rental I do not expect to be deducted 30 minutes because your vehicle was not ready for me

Excellent service

Excellent service picking up the car and returning it The car was also very nice but had a strong smell of tobacco even though it was a no smoking car I would still recommend Europcar at Edinburgh airport and I use them every time I go there

Would use again

Was concerned about using Europcar based on the reviews but it was a great experience at Belfast International Airport I booked through rentalcars com and they said you had to pay a holding charge of 700 on a credit card and not debit card When I arrived at the Europcar desk they said I could use a debit card which was useful to know for the future as not everyone has a credit card I did book a ford focus or similar car but was given a new Vaxuhall Crossland and offered an option of manual or automatic for the same price which was really good Collection and drop off was easy and the staff were really friendly

Good experience

Simple and friendly dealing with Europcar staff Low deposits are nice but insurance excesses are scary Perhaps they could scale these based on drivers no claims history I have 38 years of driving history now with neither an insurance claim made FOR or AGAINST me

Europcar Hire UK

UK I ve used other car hire companies in the past and I ve only used Europcar 3 times the recent one was good but wasn t too happy with the pick up had to wait near an hour as the car had just been dropped off by another customer and had to go through the checks before I get it Once the car was ready I felt I was rushed with going through everything and I wanted to use the sat nav but wasn t shown how to use it so after I left I tried it and it didn t work and I don t know why Overall I am happy with the car and drop off but next time would like more time to go through everything before I leave I do recommend Europcar

Lynne - shining light

Lynne in your office was superb and helped me excellently She is a real credit to your company She really went the extra mile and was superb The car I hired has much more damage than was on the sheet and now I have learned by your previous poor behaviour I had to get the sheet updated prior to leaving There was a lot more damage than recorded This was necessary otherwise I might be falsely accused again of damage I have not caused

Poor Pick Up but Good Drop Off Experience

Bad StuffBecause of an upgrade the car in rental agreement did not match the actual car I was given at Gatwick The car I received had numerous existing scratches which were only revealed when I saw the corrected invoice at drop off A missing parcel shelf was listed as new damage But there was not one when I picked up the car - in fact I did not even know that it had one until I was advised at the drop off Good Stuff The people at the Carlisle drop off sorted out all the problems

Good staff but inconsistent sat nav provision

Excellent staff car clean but no provision to link phone to say nav or use the sat nav which was installed in the car but not activated without additional charge Using one s own phone for sat nav without any provision of a phone holder resting it somewhere is unsafe when there is the facility for sat nav already installed On some cars it is available on some cars it isn t irrespective of the class of car hired and inconsistent as to whether you have to pay extra It should be standard to ensure better safety for hirers

You need to have more staff working in the evenings to avoid lengthy wait times

This could have been like every other time I used Europcar Friendly service quality car etc However on this occasion for some reason there were not enough staff to cope with demand at that time in the evening resulting in a lot of customers waiting for over an hour to pick up their pre-booked vehicles Accept that there was extra demand due to the Edinburgh Festival being on but it wasn t unknown Maybe an incentive is needed for the staff to work late like overtime or and anextra shift could have been planned

Rental Car Review - Bristol Airport

Collect vehical from airport without any problems Was a bit strange not to have someone checking vehical for damage pre journey - was told to take photo evidence myself Did have a lot of trouble change the language function inside the car Euro team members x 3 sorted it out Staff were nice
