Having an issue under warranty

Having an issue under warranty My mechanic did my first oil change and inspection and found out there is a oil leak behind the head in a tough place to put a camera The builder had us put dye in the oil and take a picture but it wasn t clear enough for the engine builders So meanwhile their answer is to just put more miles on the motor which I think is a terrible idea because it s leaking oil I paid extra for the extra warranty and they do this to me I have been back and forth between the builders and my mechanic over and over it s eating up a lot of my time I m not happy

I gave a three star because the engine

I gave a three star because the engine make s a loud rattling sound at start up But goes away after the oil pressure builds up Powertrain tech said that it will go away after the break in period but I m not sure about that And Powertrain charged me a shipping fee because the driver from R L delivery labeled the engine core return wrong and it went to the wrong location

The only issue I ran into was the

The only issue I ran into was the transmission I received was an older generation then what came out of my truck I was unable to use the coolant line fittings from my old transmission as they would not thread into the replacement Other then that so far so good

I ordered a motor and transmission for

I ordered a motor and transmission for my truck and as far as customer service and the transmission is concerned they was absolutely wonderful My motor on the other hand after just few months already has a rattle on startup I know these motors are notorious for timing chain tensioner leaking but I was assured that this among other things had been addressed and fixed But here we are
T

False advertising about availability

False advertising about availability Heard and had read mostly great reviews about powertrain found the engine I needed monitored its availability for about a month chose my options and ordered Next business day I get a call claiming the website inventory is incorrect and that I would have to wait 2 months for them to even consider starting my order let alone the estimated 3-6 month wait for it to ship Was only offered to stay and wait or cancel my order all together not even a discount for the fault on their end So far NOT a good start Pricing and warranty options are best I have seen though

Lifter went out at 1000 miles

Lifter went out at 1000 miles My mechanic can t get a response from the warranty department I will update my review as this goes on If you are thinking about buying one of these motors just make sure you buy the best warranty and have a second car for when something goes wrong Customer service goes out the window after you buy the engine

The sales experience was good returns are stressful

The sales experience was good but the core return process is stressful Constant emails that seem more like threats to charge me if I mess up anything The problem is that you guys send the transmission to a service shop and then send me a list of rules that makes me responsible even for your potential mistakes Do you know how difficult it is to get with a service shop to make sure that they confirm that the info on YOUR shipping bill matches an invoice that you send me Even if that wasn t enough your carriers are not on time and have no patience to do anything above and beyond to make sure I don t get a core charge All I kept getting was emails from you saying I need to ensure the core was returned or I d be charged even after it had already been picked up I still don t know if you guys got the core return absolutely no feedback or tracking g sent back to me

Overall the engine was great

Overall the engine was great however there seemed to not be good communication within the staff I received multiple emails telling me they would charge my card for the core since they hadn t been updated with tracking on the return Well that was quite the opposite not only did I email them and call them at least 3x my mechanic also called at least 3x mind you these were all different occasions COMMUNICATE

Good Not So Good Opinion

Patiently waited on a 4K rebuilt engine of course paid to have someone to swap because we didn t want to do anything to affect the warranty etc Vehicle was lightly driven for less than 2 months then was stranded on side of road so back to the shop After looking into the mechanics discovered there was incorrect rocker arm installed which appears to have contributed to the problem Powertrain quickly shipped us a part then we purchased remainder needed locally to be reimbursed So paid another 1200 out of my pocket to cover parts repair Drove lightly for another 2 weeks and engine stared to run rough once again so Powertrain shipped us a replacement motor within 2 days which was great but another 1200 out of my pocket to swap another engine Powertrain will do what is right to quickly ship you parts or whatever is needed My main heartburn is the having to wait 30-90 days for reimbursement after you have submitted receipts I paid for a motor install within 3 months I had to pay another 2400 out of pocket to fix an error on their part that I have yet to receive back I am just told I will receive reimbursement somewhere between 30-90 days I have worked for a company over 20 years and with this kind of quality warranty mistake our customers would never be coming out of pocket It would be a step up for warranty powertrain to at least reduce that long of a range 60-90 range is a bit much to correct an issue on a motor just installed for good business Fortunately I have another vehicle so I did not cost them rental fees I know someone that towed me twice without charge Not sure if powertrain covers towing as well Either way I didnt want to chance having to wait 30-90 days on more money
