Free advice

I highly recommend if you purchase and engine or possibly anything from Powertrain products that you torque test every threaded hole or stud before you install the engine or product purchased I purchased a 5 9L engine for me 2000 Dakota and after I got the oil pan and timing cover installed I dropped the engine in only to find all the thread inserts on the driver s side head pulled out at only 12 ft Lbs of torque The holes were drilled oversize and it appears JB weld was used to hold the thread inserts in the exhaust manifold tapped holes I tried to contact Powertrain using their website contact form and call them and got crickets I think the bottom line is you are on your own once you receive whatever they ship to you The internal engine rebuild looked good but the attention to detail on presentation and quality control is weak Now if someone contacts me from PowerTrain and sends me a set of good heads I will change my opinion about this company but so far Nothing Note if you send a message using their contact us form on their website you get no confirmation that you communicated with them so you have nothing to reference if they call

Ordered a rear diff to replace my

Ordered a rear diff to replace my original one the pinion bearing was going out and making noise I stalled the replacement one and followed break in procedures and servicing All was fine until that one started making a roaring noise from the pinion area Got a replacement unit sent through warranty and installed that one Followed break in procedures this one has been in for just a few days it is making a groaning noise when i turn either direction and when i take off from a stop Marking on this one indicated it was a posi unit so i am hoping the noises subside over the next few days as it breaks in This is my daily and i put lots of miles on it although i am taking it easy on it Hoping this unit stops making noises and i dont have to swap it out again But i can say that everyone i have been talking to and dealing with have been very helpful and have taken care of me with everything Very good customer service has been provided in every way

Waiting

I was told after I ordered the engine I need it is NOT available as show on the main web page and they would need 4 to 6 weeks to build it I said OK and my cc was billed for the full amount The day before it was to ship I called for an update and was told it will be another 3 to 4 weeks but weren t sure I never received a call or email about the delay I could have had my engine completely rebuilt locally in this amount of time plus I shouldn t have been been full amount until the build was started I can understand paying a deposit for a spot in the line and procuring all components needed Would appreciate an email of details on build delays And better ECD please Thxs
