OK but patchy

Switched five months ago Due to the cost of living and only needing to use one device at a time I chose 11mbps via copper wire Signal is weaker than my previous package and it frequently drops the connection making working from home difficult The router has several yellow lights which flash constantly making it more distracting than some other routers

Very good experience with Esma T but awful automated payment error

Very good experience with Esma T on live chat who sorted out a payment issue Disappointed with the automated system trying to make me increase my payment twenty-fold when Esma confirmed I could actually decrease it I am on the ball and didn t panic My grandmother would have been in tears if this happened to her Do better Shell Energy Thanks Esma

Pointless call

My broadband has not worked and shell energy left me a message asking me to ring them for an update After 10 minutes waiting to get through LIYANA M answered She was very helpful and polite and I have nothing but praise for her but there wasn t anything new for her to tell me so I ended up wasting about 20 minutes of my time I d have preferred a pointless sms I could have ignored that

Poor value for money

I was moved to Shell Energy when Pure Planet went bust Shell charged maximum allowed rates with zero benefits No off peak tarrif no green energy saving products and so on Just strong cold heart corporate vibes As an EV owner I couldn t wait to leave Shell for Octopus Energy or British Gas to access their EV tariff Luckily Octopus have started to accept new customers and I rushed out of the claws of Shell

Not sad they ve transferred customers to Octopus

Shell have been enthusiastic about pushing Smart Meters I asked them more than once not to pester with unsolicited phone calls Eventually the phone calls stopped Shell kept very quiet about the principle that on the anniversary of the account being opened the balance should be close to zero - no it is hundreds of pounds They also kept quiet about selling out to Octopus It was several weeks after this had been reported in the media that they sent a letter which was not especially reassuring or clear about what would happen and when Having dealt with Octopus before I only left because the tariff didn t compete with the offer made by another company in a collective competitive tender scheme I m relieved it s Octopus Shell leave me with the impression of being uncaring self-interested and dodgy - good riddance

Shell Broadband Live Chat

I disliked being unable to converse with a human on the phone The Bot was very frustrating Renato H was helpful but it still took ages to get an answer I am still unsure of the installation date as the last email that came through said activation would be on 20 2 24 and this was after I have advised Renato H that we would be available on 12th 8 00 -1 00

Mid contract price increase Feel cheated

Oh dear after 6 months they pushed up the price mid contract I m giving notice and moving to Toob for 25 quid for 1GB and no mid contract price increases

Complaints

Been having issues for many months due to slow speeds approximately 66 below minimum expected speed after hours on the phone the contact has now expired and I have moved suppliers the service I have received has been poor at best however today with the help of the lady who called me I have received a free final months Internet and have now severed all ties with shell Internet I feel from my own experience I could not recommend shell Internet and at present would not consider returning to shell in the future Beano was the lady who was most helpful just need shell to rectify my final bill

Contract End Ambiguity

Broadband provider for last 2 years it s been a fine service with occasional outages which I d put down to Openreach installation rather than the router etc Come renewal time I wanted my contract to end on the given end date Unfortunately you have to give 30 days notice to cancel I was under the assumption that a cancelation was different to a cessation of a contract therefore ended up having to pay an extra undiscounted month of broadband I feel Shell should make this clearer The website is also dreadful with self serve options that are simply web forms OR directions to the phone When I called it took 10 minutes to speak to a call handler they were helpful however again felt like the ambiguity around contract end wasn t addressed
