Have faith- there s hope They seem to be keeping their word and honouring orders one of our very large 5 boxes order arrived today We couldn t believe it They always stated they had the stock and it was a distribution and staff issue and they have now closed their website and are focusing on getting orders out The administrators are PwC a reputable company I share others anxiety especially in current market as we have one more large order of mainly educational books- needed even more for homeschooling I believe they will honour this The wait s not ideal and when we ordered it wasn t clear they were in administration or that it would take so long But we are where we are I hope the fact orders are going out now gives others hope Remember people often only review when they are angry and have a bad experience so many more are possibly getting orders too and not reporting it on review sites especially with all the other issues going on Thank you to all the staff at the BookPeople who were polite caring and as helpful as they could be whenever we called over the years even at the end when their jobs were cut

Ordered on 20th March 2020 when delivery was 4 weeks Had not noticed at foot of order that they were in liquidation but given the many many years of dealing with this company I was not overly concerned Then received email to say orders were now 7 weeks for delivery then another to say no more orders were being taken I have waited patiently and checked Trustpilot feedback mid-May as I was getting a bit concerned My patience and faith were rewarded when out of the blue I got an email on 5th June to say my Bookpeople shipment was with Hermes It was delivered the next day in 2 boxes everything was there and everything was perfect I found an email today in my Spam from the Bookpeople on 9th June to say my order is on its way I am truly delighted to have received my order at such bargain prices absolutely worth the wait Please be patient folks Thank you so much Bookpeople staff for all your hard work at this very difficult time Good luck to you all for the future - you deserve it

I placed an order 8 weeks ago on the 29th February so I was losing hope that I d ever get my books to be honest so much so that I raised a dispute with PayPal ready to try to get a refund as I d not had any reply back from customer services in response to my emails either But to my surprise I had a dispatch confirmation 2 days ago and an update from Hermes yesterday to say my order was on its way I am pleased to report that I had 2 parcels delivered today with all the books there You ve made our children so happy it was like Christmas in our house today So I just wanted to do this review to thank Thebookpeople for keeping to their word even in these extremely difficult times doing their best to fulfil orders as quickly possible thank you so much for all the lovely books myself my family have enjoyed over many years from you you will be greatly missed

I ve enjoyed all my purchases be it on line or bought from work The thing I will treasure the most is my nativity advent calendar of 25 mini books Used every year This viruses has destroyed a lot of businesses

So sad to see all these negative reviews Just received my absolute bargain books 8 weeks after ordering Everything I ordered received I too was worrying a bit and a bit disappointed the delivery took longer than the four weeks stated originally but I had patience as obviously corona virus has slowed everything down so a company that was already selling off its stock after going into administration was obviously going to be slower still The few employees left who were already under immense pressure from the mass of orders from the closing down sale and the company going into administration has now also got the pressure of risking health and having to social distance trying to fulfil all the orders placed must be really hard Please have patience and hold out I believe your orders should be with you soon Sorry if any one bought for occasions and missed but you can always put them away for Christmas gifts A long standing reputable company and very sad to see it go

I placed a large order on the 20th March like a lot of people after reading the reviews I had no idea how long I would have to wait for my order I did not call TBP to chase up my order because I knew I would be told to wait At the time of my order I was told a four week delivery time which increased to 7 weeks I realized with the lock down I would most likely have to wait longer However I was pleasantly surprised to receive my dispatch email with Hermes delivering my packages over two days A few items were out of stock but everything arrived in perfect condition I am now wishing I had ordered more Thank you to all the staff at TBP for the years of excellent customer service and who are working tirelessly knowing they have lost their jobs in these difficult and unprecedented times I wish you all the best for the future

After reading some of the reviews below I decided to phone The Book People today for reassurance I got through immediately and spoke to a lovely lady who was very helpful She checked my order from the 23rd March and informed me that my order is still pending although four items are out of stock which I will not be charged for but they may be back in stock before my order is despatched They hope to get my order out within the next three weeks Very happy with this information and I will miss ordering from them in the future having been a good customer for the past 20 years They have been providing an excellent service throughout this time Thank you to all the staff and good luck to them all in the future

I placed an order for 17 books on 3 March They arrived today exactly 11 weeks later I called to chase progress after around 7 8 weeks and was told my order was still in the warehouse but would be sent The woman I spoke to was polite and helpful I received a dispatch confirmation email last week then emails and texts from Hermes about the delivery this week Yes I waited a long time but the books are fantastic value and in perfect condition All of my items were sent none were missing I ve been buying from The Book People regularly for 20 years or so since I was a teenager when I couldn t afford to buy from the high street I m very sad to see them go Wishing all the staff well for the future

It s so disheartening to read all these negative reviews about this company Not only are they in receivership they ve had Covid to deal with too Have we already forgotten to be kind I received my order today having waited almost 12 weeks for it Everything is in immaculate condition and although 2 of the 25 items are out of stock I won t be chasing them for the 2 they owe me as everything I bought only cost 1 an item and I have received 2 boxes of absolute bargains I have been a customer for many years and I have always been more than satisfied with their stellar customer service and their brilliant prices Without them my children certainly wouldn t have enjoyed all the books they have growing up because without The Book People I simply wouldn t have been able to afford them If you re still waiting for your order try a little patience it works wonders Think a little less about yourself and more about the people who have lost their livelihoods

I placed an order on the 2nd of March and have finally received a dispatch email today Looks like it s coming in 2 seperate packages I ll update my review if when they arrive It does seem like they re working their way through them though if slowly Edit arrived today all present and correct Thank you book people
