USELESS PAINT

I have just painted a wall with dulux wall ceiling paint slate - only took 1 coat Next wall I did was with valspar classic walls ceiling - have done 2 coats need to go buy more paint for a 3rd or even 4th coat REALLY disappointed to say the least AND I bought Matt but there is a sheen to it Think you need to re-think your paint - it s SH

The paint and the colours are ok for

The paint and the colours are ok for our use But the price is extortionate Just bought a 2 5 lit from B Q and they have jacked the price up by 7 It s now 45 for a tin of trade paint

Bought premium Valspar Matt paint to

Bought premium Valspar Matt paint to cover a feature wall 3 coats later and it has just about covered but it is very shiny and not matt at all Valspar agreed the paint was shiny and replaced it with their flat matt paint which was better

Bought the Premium Valspar Matt

Bought the Premium Valspar Matt emulsion had it mixed to a colour we chose Added the Valspar glitter and the walls look great No issues at all with the Matt paint Came to paint the newly installed media wall with Valspar white soft sheen that had a coat of primer before hand and it s awful It looks like what I can only describe as the paint is melting We ve had to scrape it off I bought it as the Matt paint we couldn t fault but this is something else I will be returning to B Q tomorrow for a full refund Gutted that we have now got to sand down the wall

Colour Match Fiasco

We were told they could colour match Crown Duck Egg Bought 40 worth and tried it Paint was wildly different Went back B Q staff were very helpful agreed it was wrong and mixed another tin This paint was a least vaguely the right colour but still completely different to the Duck Egg Now that it has dried it looks a lot better and closer to the original and we are happy with the result Wasted hours with this and now feel we have to stick with what we got Just what is the point of offering colour matching if you get it completely wrong Valspar have contacted me and will see how that does 19 04 still waiting for a phone call 20 4 Now had a helpful email and they are responding

Started painting my hallway with Valspar silver thistle down R288F paint

Started painting my hallway with Valspar R288f silver thistle down during lock down but ran out half way through painting Couldn t get hold of any more of the paint after 2019 as all the shops were closed in 2020 and half of 2021 Which is when I went to buy more of the Valspar silver thistle Down to finish my hallway To my horror the colours no longer matched Even though it was the same paint code and colour Now I have to pay out 500 to get the hallway repainted because the colours silver thistle down no longer matches the existing colour on my wall of the same colour and paint code When did the batch change

Valspar Furniture Paint v Little Greene Intelligent Eggshell

Used Valspar Furniture Paint for the first time on an upcycling job It s ok to work with but is low on pigment So for darker colours you need a minimum of 3 coats to get an even colour with no brush marks and you have to sand between each coat which is added work The colour match was good I ve also just done another upcycling job using Little Greene Intelligent Eggshell It has much higher pigmentation so only 2 coats were required and no sanding between coats On paper it seems a lot more expensive but it s only 7 per litre more expensive Little Greene paint comes in 1 litre tins and Valspar in 750ml So if you re doing a bigger job ie going to use more paint than 3 4 coats of Valspar and you don t mind a very low sheen as opposed to dead flat matt I would use Little Greene or Farrow Ball over Valspar Only requires 2 coats and no sanding in between so takes less time with a great result

Difficult to remove lid and reseal 2 5litre paint

The plastic container used for 2 5litre paint is impractical You need to buy a special tool to remove the lid Also it is very difficult to get the lid to reseal after use We had to use a flat piece of thick plywood to place on top of the lid and hit with a hammer to get the lid to reseal Instructions on container would be helpful

Great colours but

Colour options were immense and it was the only brand which had the exact tone we wanted We used Valspar Premium matt base for walls and ceilings We hired a professional painter who could work with it but said it is more difficult to work with compared to other brands as the paint does not cover as much Multiple coats were required to exchange very light blue we had on the wall with light cream color We had to do 3-4 coats

I went to buy a different brand of dark

I went to buy a different brand of dark blue emulsion paint but at B Q the smallest tin of dulux was 2 5 litres This would be a complete waste as I was only painting a chimney breast Valspar had 1 litre pots so I had my colour matched Well wish I hadn t and had read reviews This paint dried so patchy I am now on 3rd coat and feel it needs at least one more It has taken longer to paint the chimney breast than the rest of the room The colour is fine but the paint was so thin Back to Dulux I think
