No Customer Service
I bought a corner sofa set and when it was delivered the table was damaged Contacted Gates and sent photos of the damage I have chased several times but have still not had table replaced or contact from them Really bad customer service

Very disappointing service in the coffee shop
After spending the afternoon shopping in the Gates Garden Centre and spending rather a lot of money we decided to have a coffee snack in The Coffee Shop this was very disappointing it was about 3 15pm on Sunday we counted 7 staff either behind or in front of the counter after about 15 mins of waiting for 2 coffee s we had to ask how much longer would the wait be they didn t know the young person who took our order was behind the counter so my daughter actually asked her she didn t seem to have a clue that people were waiting While we continued to wait for our coffee s we became aware of other tables experiencing the same It was almost 4pm by now so I asked one of the staff what time were they closing she said she didn t know Staff lacked any form of leadership very disappointing let down for such a great garden centre

Staff are unhelpful
Staff are unhelpful rude and don t communicate with each other and the customer suffers as a result This makes purchasing items that can t buy online and are told to buy over the phone very difficult Def wouldn t use again

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS GARDEN CENTRE
Purchased an LED lamp for my fireplace but cable too short and putting an extension on would not be a safe option Have just been advised by Customer Services that as the item is not faulty it cannot be returned for refund nor can I get a credit note Will certainly advise everyone to avoid this garden centre in case you buy something for a present which is of no use to anyone in case they do not like it

Disappointed
Can t believe that a garden centre of this size isn t dog friendly been in the Peak District for a week and having been to Gates before wanted to visit on our way back home to Lincolnshire no signs that dogs not allowed even had dog bowls of water outside the front doors We had no problems in the Peak District in fact most places were happy to cater to doggy people If you are a doggy person the last thing you would do would be to leave your dog in a car which the people at Gates suggested NEVER If you are a doggy person then your dog is usually well trained and you would respect the surroundings you are in accordingly Come into the 21st century Gates

A lesson required
If I could have given no stars I would A terrible experience today when it should have been a day of joy A trip out for my husband for his birthday a meal and purchases It all turned out extremely dreadful with really bad service and being accused of things that I wouldn t even know how to dream of Not only will I not be going again but it spoilt the day I certainly advise anyone to think twice before they enter As a business owner I wouldn t let my staff or myself treat others in the workplace or customers the way I have been treated today

Inconsiderate staff
My parents went there for lunch on Sunday 7 November with my disabled mum who has walking difficulties and my elderly nan After sitting at a table they were told by a member of staff that we had entered through the wrong door and had to go outside queue again My parents tried to explain that there was no sign on the door they entered but the rude member of staff would not listen and insisted my disabled mum and elderly nan go outside and enter through a different door My family regularly goes here for lunch but will not be going again after this incident

Garden Furniture - no customer care
There is no customer care I bought a piece of garden furniture which failed completely in the first few days of being errected and when I contacted Gates they did absolutely nothing to help The item was expensive and I would have expected support when raising a complaint within days of taking delivery Ignoring a follow-up email about the matter just adds insult to injury Businesses like this don t deserve customers

Friday 24th February visited the cafe in the old restaurant for afternoon tea coffee and cakes Two slices of cake a cappuccino and a breakfast tea The bill an eye watering 14 25 needless to say we will not be going there again Should have twigged the prices might be high when they were not exhibited

Pre lunch before visiting the circus
Pre lunch before visiting the circus table of five in small cafe terribly long wait of 40 mins at 12 pm then items missing from order when we got our food three of us had the same and the fries covered in Parmesan truffles were cold and dire this should be an plain fries option not part of the dish The focaccia was stale overly thick and inedible the Brie was huge chunks and the chutney was awful no salad dressing available We did get a refund on the three disgusting plates of food But a warning To future diners the catering contract is not what it was Gates has taken its eye off the ball and seems to be just a money making rip off kids boxes a rip off apple two finger kitkat and a plate of either jam or cheese sandwiches was the choice for 6 99 They need a food standards check from Melton council and the rating cannot possibly be what it once was They cannot be allowed to continue to offer sub standard food continually The Cirquoise was fabulous we give them 5stars but suggest they contact another venue locally for future visits as association with the gates nursery won t help in the future of their enterprising adventure and we all wish them well for future successful shows
