Car was really good but be VERY VERY careful with the insurance I called Hertz in advance to enquire whether or not I would still have to pay a 2000 euro deposit if I had a maximum insurance They assured me that as long as I could prove I had an insurance I would not have to pay that deposit That was important for me as my credit card limit is 800 euros I booked the car on an external website and bought the supercover insurance there however when picking up the car Hertz suddenly did not accept that insurance because it was not directly bought through them Had to pay a 100 euros for an EXTRA insurance otherwise I could not take the car Very misleading and unfair as I had specifically called them about this Contacted costumer service but as one would expect they did not apologise

Complete rip-off in Ireland
I have rented a car with them on several occasions and usually had no issues Unfortunately this was not a case recently when I rented a car in Ireland During the pick up we were asked if we needed additional insurance We have declined and handed in our credit card for pre-authorisation in case of damage This is what we usually do and never had issues To our surprise upon returning the car our card was charged additional 200EUR for Super Cover which we have never agreed to The support team was useless and said that we agreed to and they would not be returning the money

Booked a car hire through Ryan Air Paid for the insurance Got to Dulin airport Hertz office Waited an hour in a line out the door When finally get to an advisor I am told he doesn t want to see my insurance information but that I should give my credit card over to pay the deposit which could be 2700 but as I have insurance it won t be that much I am then charged 160 16 superciver and 80 glass and tyre cover without any explanation or agreement by me Feel totally bamboozled and embarrassed Total cost was twice what I thought it would be Never going through Hertz Dollar again

Rented a car from hertz in Edinburgh in early march Paid upfront for the rental and also paid anything outstanding upon leaving the car back Have just now been charged 119 10 which there is no email confirmation of what it s for Contacted customer services who cannot find record of the charge Have to wait for 7 10 days for them to look into it Surely a company should be able to find charges that they have made without having to take so long to look into it Will not be using again regardless of the outcome of their search

Absolutely disgusting service
Absolutely disgusting service from one of the managers in Cork We rented out a car for just one day and we agreed to return it at 1 PM We arrived to return at 1 05 PM and everything was locked up There was also another person already waiting there to return it as well just as confused as us I phoned Hertz and the manager answered the phone I told him we re here and everything is locked up and he responded saying I m late I responded saying we re here and only a couple minutes late and he defensively said it s 10 minutes past and the person working there waited for 5 minutes already there was already another person waiting to return the car there when we arrived at 5 minutes past 1 The way he spoke to me was not professional at all I told him the person in front of us also phoned and they said we could just leave the keys through the door I told him that he was unprofessional and he proceeded to tell me alright if you have that attitude I ll make you take it to the airport Couple of things here Firstly if we were half an hour late I would understand them being closed however we were 5 minutes late along with someone else with the same problem Secondly someone involved in a customer service related role should have empathy and should aim to resolve the situation and not escalate the situation trying to exercise power and the fact that he can make us take the car all the way to the airport depending on his mood Third thing its extremely unprofessional to be argumentative with a client and talking about my attitude I had an incredible holiday in Cork only to have it ended on a low because of this person s rudeness And I do not need to tolerate that for a service that we paid for during our holiday I did expect better from Hertz Just to be clear we started out having an amazing experience with Hetz The first guy we dealt with when we picked up the car was really polite and very helpful Returning the car left such a bad taste If you would like a nice holiday and need to rent a car in Cork I highly recommend you do not rent from Hertz and certainly do not expect them to be helpful in any way Reply to customer support response Thank you for your response I had a phone call from Hertz today to apologize for the Situation As I mentioned the entire experience was great until I dealt with the person on the phone upon returning the car Just to clarify I had a call today from someone else with an apology and I feel the situation has been resolved This person was extremely polite and because of this I have decided that I will continue to use Hertz Thank you for resolving the situation

Booking in staff are great I paid for a upgrade 140 and the vehicle was disgusting and not even clean When mentioned to the staff they didn t seem to care Would I book again not sure

UPGRADE CHARGE
I hired a car through Ryanair and on arrival at Kerry Airport was offered an upgrade to a different car but with no mention of an additional charge of 170 euro on top of what I already paid to Ryanair While this was included in documentation I initialed the person I dealt with never mentioned the charge and if this is Hertz policy it leaves a lot to be desired Any proposed changes to a contract should be verbally spelled out to a customer I have been offered upgrades for free by other carhire firms Very disappointed Michael

Bait and Switch at its most blatant
Friendly service car was clean and reliable but the business practices of Hertz were dubious leaving me feeling a little cheated Once the various insurances were added the daily rate was approximately double the headline figure This is classic U S marketing profiteering and left a grimace on our faces What was worse was showing an image of a rather nice Ford Focus on the website when the booking was made and then putting us in the or similar Dacia Sandero The Sandero did the job but not with the interior space passenger comfort low noise and driver appeal of a Focus To put these two in the same bracket is akin to saying a sausage is a reasonable substitute for a steak The Sandero is okay but NOT similar to a Focus unless you regard both as simply cars We will come back next year but won t use Hertz For clarity I should add I was one of a party of four the sole driver but not the principal renter
