Eyetest Glasses Quote

I had a private eye test with Leightons recently which was the first time I had used them Premises are nice appointment on time staff pleasant and the test was especially thorough for checking the eye health etc I was then given a quote for lenses both varifocal and single vision which can only be described as an extortionate amount of money Over many years I have always been mystified by opticians costs for glasses lenses I don t mind paying a little more for this to come from a local opticians but there is a reasonable limit and I could not justify what was being quoted As is everyone s right I decided to look elsewhere for glasses After discussing with another opticians I then realised there was something not provided from Leightons - an intermediate prescription which is something relevant to me I phoned Leightons to query this and was told they do not provide this on the prescription but work it out at the dispensing stage With hindsight I should have insisted on this at the time of the test Given this was a fully paid for private eye test I feel they should provide all information required I ended up paying for a repeat eye test elsewhere to provide a record of all the necessary information and took the opportunity to check my Leightons prescription - my near reading prescription was checked and found to be slightly different from Leightons which was not optimal for me so I am glad it was checked elsewhere Therefore I don t feel I can fully recommend Leightons

Leightons - Sutton

I have been using the Sutton branch of Leightons for over 20 years and my latest visit was the least satisfactory The frames that I had chosen for my varifocal glasses which were featured on the Leighton s website could not be sourced which meant that I had to have new lenses in my existing frames After the work was completed and I received the glasses with the new lenses I had to return after a few days because the frames were too tight and making an impression on my nose Following a minor alteration the frames were more comfortable but the clarity I was used to from all my previous pairs of varifocals was still not right especially when driving I returned to the branch therefore and was told that the glasses were made to the right prescription and that I would have to return for a retest Following the retest which had virtually the same result as the earlier test I saw a male optician who did not normally work at the Sutton branch who took the time and trouble to tweak the frames and lenses so that they are now much more acceptable He made the point that as the frames had been unchanged they should not have required so much attention

Poor service

Having been a loyal customer for many years I was happy to pay over the odds for my lenses for good service In the lockdown I was disappointed not to receive my lenses - payment taken - but it was understandable Although my medical business maintained all obligations to patients But when the next lot of lenses were not ordered again meaning I had no lenses I was very disappointed I have since been to Costco for 1 3 if the cost

Having never needed glasses before

Having never needed glasses before I booked in for an Eye test This was very thorough and as a result the optician told me that my eye sight wasn t bad but I was slightly short sighted She also said that I would benefit slightly with reading lenses as it wouldn t be a strain reading I was recommended very focal lenses and invited to choose a pair of frames I was charged over 600 for one pair and collected them a week later Since then everyone I have met who wears spectacles has told me that that price I paid was extortionate Not complaining about service but now I have realised what the average price is for these specific set of spectacles I can t help feeling as though I ve been ripped off

I recently had my eye done at leigtons

Further to my recent complain about Leighton opticians I have since had my glasses rectified and am very please to say I can see clearly now Thank you very much all a leightons optician windsor

I had an eye test on 21 06 21 received a telephone call the following day saying my old frames had been sent off to see if they could be repaired and that I would be advised of the price in due course Since then I have heard nothing

Thought I would try and support local

Thought I would try and support local shops by using the local branch However although the quality of the eye examination was excellent the price options at over 800 for glasses were for me as a pensioner just to expensive

Actual eye test and opticians advice

Actual eye test and opticians advice was fine but what a total rip off for the very small prescription reading glasses Glad I listened to my instincts and decided to leave and check out other options before committing as it just did not feel right despite never having bought glasses before How right i turned out to be Leightons should be ashamed of these sale tactics

Not geared up for kids

I feel Leightons could have been a bit more attuned to kids needs especially when they re getting their first pair We had waited quite a while for them to order in some frames for us to try Only one pair fitted which was disappointing We also had to wait 20 mins to try them on even though we d booked an appt and were on time which doesn t help with a tired child
