AMERICAN BULLY OWNERS BEWARE They only cover our beloved dogs if you re in the market to be exploited Prior to the governments move to ban our breed I paid no more than 500 year for lifetime cover up to 10k I like to have security having called PetPlan today I have been quoted 220 month for a 7k lifetime policy for a 3 5yo adult male with no prior health conditions no negative temperament shown and does not meet the criteria of a XL and is a Classic size The rep had the cheek to tell me the age of my dog and our location was the reason the premium was so high But after being on various forums it s seems it s a standard monthly charge for any AB quote given as many people quoting the same number Our pets just need health care cover and there is no company out there that is offering that apart from these cowboys So if like me you have a healthy young pet save the money and opt out of lining PetPlans pockets

Rude customer service

I rang them as our insurance was up for renewal No claims made and the insurance had gone up over 100 on our 4 year old dog I asked if they could better the price The response was go elsewhere if you can get it cheaper that s our price needless to say I ve gone elsewhere

Yearly Price Hike

Never used the policy and won t be by the look of it Started at 540 a year 5 years ago renewal this year is 1050 in another 5 years it will be 2000 bear in mind I insure 2 cars for less than that No words Found it more than half the price for the same cover with good reviews and payout rate else where

They try and force you to cancel your

They try and force you to cancel your insurance Been with them for thirteen years now and as each renewal date comes around they hike the policy by an unreasonable amount will be paying over a hundred pound a month the vets and the insurance work together it s all about profit not pet care open your pet a bank account and save for future treatment

Dear Petplan Subject Cancellation and Refund Request for Policy 556978841I am writing to bring to your attention a matter concerning the renewal of Molly s insurance policy Policy Number 556978841 In November I submitted a document requesting the non-renewal of this policy due to a significant increase in the premium which I found to be unreasonable Despite this I have discovered that the policy was renewed without my consent and the premium was subsequently debited from my bank account This action is also reflected in several Trustpilot reviews indicating a similar experience faced by other customers I am treating this incident as a formal complaint and urgently request a full refund of the deducted amount Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated Thank you for your cooperation Kind Regards Michael

Ridiculous auto renewal prices

Started the policy for one dog Puppy 2 years ago at 43 00 per month Have never made a claim and the dog has never been ill Insurance premium went up to 52 00 per month for year 2 and now they want 67 00 per month for year 3 Excuses about vets bills going up is ridiculous as they haven t increased the level of cover to take into account these higher vets bills so in effect paying more for less cover Renewed elsewhere 44 00 a month for a higher level of cover with more benefits Do not allow Petplan to just auto renew Absolutely ridiculous response below from Petplan if increases were a direct response of increasing vets bills then the level of cover would need to increase to cover these costs and they don t In fact they have even reduced certain elements of cover such as public liability and restricted treatment such as hydrotherapy Shop around or pay the ridiculous Petplan renewal price I had a friend enquire for a new quote with all the same details age illnesses and breed etc as my own dog with the same postcode as mine and the price was 40 cheaper

Repeatedly Applied Excess slow to rectify and admit mistakes

3 times now Petplan has double charged me the condition excess 3 times is too many to be acceptable Currently still waiting for my money to be corrected paid approach Xmas it shouldn t take 5 weeks and counting with appalling communication On that note I see the website chat has been removed Too many complaints I did ask why they ignored my request Own your mistakes Petplan and paw in a timely manner You should be doing everything you can to make this right Why aren t you Also have to state I have 2 policies with them When they pay out on the wrong dog you really do have to worry about their competence They used to be premium not any longer I m afraid Look around is my advice better cover out there now and hopefully better complaint handling too You ve been warned As a footnote probably worth directing complaints here also colm holmes allianz co ukTHE big cheese I asked if he had issues with cash flow finances as we near Xmas no reply They are consistent at least

Far too expensive

I used to highly rate pet plan but recently they have put their premiums up by so much that they are just taking advantage of pet owners I got my renewal in and it is up at 90 a month for 2 cats and that is with a discount We can t afford that they are really taking advantage of pet owners who love their pets and want to do right by them Fortunately I have found the same level of cover for much cheaper elsewhere

An unacceptable increase in premiums

My dogs annual premium has just increased by 24 despite no claims in the past year When I rang to question the increase I was told that anything up to 25 is acceptable In my opinion it is an outrageous unjustifiable increase
