Check what cover you need and compare quotes at renewal

Claim is ongoing and I would rate our experience so far as adequate only I have emailed them but await a reply In general insuring an older dog is expensive and the Petplan at least will continue to offer cover at renewal and they do not increase the premium after a claim We should really have checked renewal costs rather than letting it auto renew We should have thought about the level of cover we needed and quickly checking on line comparison sites and Which Magazine ratings there were probably better options out there We are now old as is our remaining dog so we won t be needing insurance for another dog I think about 40 years with Petplan - they were excellent

Cost vs

I ve always raved about PetPlan and due to my recommendations a few people have taken out policies with them They are quick to pay claims and work with the vet well However They were always the most expensive for policies but the prices of things have dramatically jumped recently Our policy is now over 1300 a year and the excess per new claim has risen to nearly 140 As things stand I would be financially better off putting that money into a savings account

Some extra charge not expected Claim was sorted quickly

Claim was sorted quickly but I didn t like the extra 20 on top of excess amount as I ve paid thousands of pounds to you over the past 11years and 5months and you are discriminating against her age I would like to take this further with your office please contact me via My email or mobileThank you

Not always accurate information

The claim was processed in just under a week However when I rang to check that it was being done I was told the vets hadn t competed their form which was inaccurate The claim was then processed that night

I m furious

I m furious that I have been charged two excesses for the same condition because the vet visit lapse over the policy renewal I understand if it was different treatments or a new policy I can t dictate when the dog is unwell so shouldn t be penalised if this occurs over renewal date I already pay a hefty amount each month to keep costs down when my dog needs medical help so feel that this is very wrong

Great service but they failed to warn me about unexpected admin charges

Great service but they encouraged me to claim via my vet I was going to do it myself online but run into problems and I incurred an unexpected charge Which on a big claim you can absorb but on a small claim after the excess is taken away it makes it uneconomical

Expensive

I agree having Pet Pal insurance does mean it is easier to claim as the vets can process the claim on your behalf But my insurance payments for my two dogs is just so expensive and the cost increases every year without any notice You need to weigh up the cost of their insurance it s so expensive

Petplan s halo has slipped a bit

Not such a good experience this time over my recent claim settlement Due to an administrative error I did not at first receive the correct and full payment I was entitled to leaving me with the prospect of having to meet a large bill by my own means The mistake was partly due to the vet incorrectly submitting the claim but I think that the Petplan claims assessor should have been more diligent in picking up on the mistake as the claim was being processed I found the experience of resolving the problem stressful Ultimately after several phone calls the matter was satisfactorily settled

Petplan

PetplanWhilst I agree with the many positive comments on here about the extensive cover I have concerns about profits before loyalty with Petplan as so many others on here have commented on My previous pet received great cover when required by petplan However that did come at a great cost with unrealistically elevated renewal premiums My two current very healthy young cats were covered until they sent their renewal costs After weighing up the pros and cons it was a sensible decision to part company with them and set up my own plan There wasn t any follow up to the cancellation which shows a great deal about how they apportion their own needs in front of the customer I know they always send a explanation as to why they raise their costs which never takes into consideration that particular pets current good health and instead make unsustainable projections based on their own companies survival I gave them a chance but felt dreadfully let down by their lack of real compassion to their customer and ability to assess each pet individually instead of a blanket high risk assessment

Think about rewording

This is just a little pointer really After my pets passing I was on the chat to let them know The advisor was polite and understanding however the fact that the screen just changed virtually instantly to Cover for has ended which is a little insensitive Maybe in these instances something more poignant should be used rather than it looking like someone has cancelled and switched a policy to somewhere else
