Cost effective and saves time

Bench is so much more cost effective even than having a freelance bookkeeper come in for a few hours each week They are linked to my accounts so I always have a fairly up to date view with my books Can t say I had that with a local bookkeeper and Bench costs less Very responsive too One star off since they changed their dashboard and I ll be honest I liked it the old way better Still a great service at a great rate would recommend for any small business over doing your own QuickBooks or hiring someone

Overall impressive but with some caveats The service is designed for small businesses that are pretty simply set up Our business has a number of unique properties that didn t fit neatly into bench s service As such it s taken a bit more work on my side than expected But I would say for most small to medium-sized businesses their service is pretty seamless and excellent compared to working with most traditional accountants or accounting firms

Initially slow but made significant improvements

Update Feb 16th Bench followed up and has been far more responsive and active in completing my books Appreciative of the effort the team has made to make up for the initial issues ----Signed up for Bench in early November It s the end of January and they still haven t completed my books I ve followed up multiple times but not a single month has been completed yet

Saves time in the long run

Bench has been a real time saver to take bookkeeping off of my plate It does take a few months of onboarding and making comments suggestions to transactions as your bookkeeper learns the patterns of your biz but they are very responsive and easy to communicate with through the platform Glad I made the switch from doing books myself I can rest easier knowing someone with the ins and outs of accounting is maintaining my books and I m not just flying by the seat of my pants on my own

The experience was great however cannot keep up with the expense

The experience was great Neat communications and documents are kept up to date A suitable resolution from the new staff members Downside Bookkeeping through Bench can be pricy compared to other services I met The staff turnover rate is enormous and super high It s like every one or two months and I m working with another person I d give a 4 3 stars as they did a great job However it can be challenging for small businesses to keep up with the expense of the current bookkeeping fees Bench currently offers The price can be better With the economic condition I would not recommend this product Service-wise it s improving If the subscription fee is lower I have no problem keeping up with the service

Happy so far

They are very easy to communicate with and let you know what they need and when they need it Sometime the information is not up to date and takes a long time to present accurately For the most part it is going well and they will be extremely helpful once tax season rolls around to help us with all of that

You get out what you put in

I ve used Bench for 1 5 years now It s not cheap but at the end of the day I m not worried about the state of my books and tax season was a breeze I m a one-person-show for my business so I don t have a lot of time to put into bookkeeping but when I take the time to ask clarifying questions on Bench co I m always met with a friendly and helpful response Unless I find someone else offering all of this at a cheaper rate I ll continue to pay for Bench s services

We have only been using Bench since July 2023

We have been using Bench Accounting since July 2023 While I am sure they are very experienced i have been away from accounting for seven years I would have liked a better way of communicating such as zoom or emails instead of the area on the right side of the Bench Accounting Overview page You would have your documents that you neede from me a little faster i do not log into Bench everyday so this means you have to wait for me Perhaps a short weekly discussion by zoom would be better just to make sure things are moving along smoothly

Definitely a Time-Saver

I ve been with Bench a couple years now where previously I was doing everything myself in Excel If you re coming from a similar place it s a big improvement Bench does save a lot of time in keeping the financials up to date and accurate but it s not entirely hands-off Real-time reporting has improved during my time as a customer but it s still frustrating not to be able to recategorize transactions myself For simple corrections it s pretty lame to have to message my bookkeeper For whatever reason they have a really hard time with my payroll process and correctly allocating the different amounts

My experience with Bench staff is very good that they respond right away for your questions Whenever I ask question I get response same day unless it is after hour
