Fraudulent charge
Returned car to Tenerife South depot with full tank and no damage Received credit card statement 2 weeks later with 19 euro charge taken by Budget Was told it was a refuelling service charge but no refuelling was required Scandalous almost as bad as Goldcar Bad practice that should be stamped out immediately UK Head Office agreed it was bad practice and refunded the charge straight away Avoid at all costs

Additional Fuel Charge - Get a receipt - or else
Car was rented through Budget GB but supplied by Budget USA Car was collected with 7 8 full fuel tank and returned with 8 8 full fuel tank Despite this I was charged an additional fuel fee due to the fact that I had driven less than 75 miles There seems to be no provision in the Budget USA invoicing system to recognise that I actually topped up with MORE fuel than was required They simply note that I had driven less than 75 miles and applied the charge Budget GB washed their hands when requesting a FULL refund saying that Budget USA was the service provider The Budget USA check-in agent did not request a fuel receipt the proof of which would have prevented the charge

False damage charges - after renting through a third party was charged an additional 340 with no evidence of damage wasn t any or proof of repair receipt contacted via phone after no response from emails still no further information provided A SCAM of a company Avoid completely

Car downgrade surprising charges Never again
The sales person at EDI airport s used all the tricks in the book to upsell me some stuff I had no interest in I tried to resist but still ended up somehow paying for some mysterious additional charges which I still don t understand I also left the car rental location with a smaller car than what I had originally booked which to Budget s credit shows some mastery in their art I normally enjoy hiring with Avis Knowing that they share the roof with Budget will now make me think twice about coming back to the main Avis brand

Look at excerpts taken from budget co uk Essentially Budget or their insurer penalise customers through an additional 14 daily for each additional driver even as they acknowledge that sharing the driving on long journeys reduce risks of damage to rental vehicle risks to other road users Adding an additional driver is a great way to share the load when travelling long distances or driving abroad Driving in a foreign country can be stressful tiring and quite frankly sometimes a little boring By sharing the driving responsibilities you can lower the risk of having an accident In the UK an additional driver costs 13 99 including VAT per day per driver
