We had seen a house twice
We had seen a house twice place was fine and we liked it We made an offer to owner but the agent was quite weird and didn t want to pass it to them My spouse was arguing with her agent as she didn t want to provide a form to us I find it s funny as they agency work in their own way They can easily refuse or to say it s already accepted an offer and you can see in a week it s available again Do they really think tenants are idiots out there With particular one I would say the girl apparently thought she was renting her own one The place BTW is still available

Avoid - terrible service - Chestertons Canary Wharf
Terrible experience with Chestertons in Canary Wharf whilst buying a property Very patronising approach from the agent and lack of transparency in process of a sale around seller s motivations where they kept changing the goal posts Deeply disappointed- waste of time and money will not use this agents again

No morals Avoid
Property agents generally get a bad rep and my experience with Chestertons rammed home why I put in an offer on a property marketed through them I made clear at the time that I was walking away from another property I was also considering My offer was accepted by the seller on whose behalf Chestertons was acting at which point I had assurances the property had been taken off the market A few days later I get a call from Chestertons to inform me I had been gazumped Not only had I now lost this property I had lost the other one I had been considering Utterly despicable behaviour On top of that the agent I had been dealing with through the process was suddenly ill meaning a new agent had to step in and do their dirty work of breaking the news Avoid All morals out the window with these ones

This agent have no concept of time
This agent have no concept of time I have a very bad experience as a tenant I first requested a 12-month tenancy and this agency use a break clause to confuse me and extend that to 14 months At the key collection date they tell me they can not give me the key due to unfinished paperwork Very bad time manners avoid this at all costs

Not to be Trusted Advise using a different one
The worst experience with a real estate agent in my life Secured a tenant with a previous detention penal past without checking the background The tenant had constant and absurd requests that were not properly managed Left before the end of the contract and then sued me as a landlord Chestertons refused to take any responsibility and left me alone with hefty legal costs

Scammed for repairs
I stayed in a short let property for 4 months I am an older person who did not have guests for dinner or drinks worked from home and mainly ate out I paid 360 for the professional cleaner when I left Chestertons paid a 3rd party to do a post tenancy inspection who CHARGED me for repainting the property accused me of painting over defects and a bunch of other things including slight shading around light switches I was disputed it and was beyond furious The response from Chestertons was the landlord has a right to do this The process was beyond disgusting and I recommend anyone who is remotely considering letting through Chestertons to meticulously document everything before moving in

Check insurance policy before moving in
Property management team of chestertons is a total disappointment Even in emergent conditions instead of trying to be responsive they are counting pennies They left me in a drainage water flooded flat without any support advising putting the heaters to max and opening the windows In the fight of building and flat managements insurances what you experience is totally meaningless to them Their main concern is serving insurance companies What I ve learned is getting and checking the insurance policy before you move in a rental is a MUST

A sad tale
We have used Chestertons for several years as agents for a flat we were renting out in Fulham During that time we formed the impression that they were slow inefficient and expensive but reasonably competent However when talking to our tenants we discovered that while the former adjectives were true the latter one was not However the real problems began when the property became vacant so we could refurbish it The so called Vacant Property Management service was a shambles and a rip off There was lack of attention to detail combined with marked slowness in response Bills were not sorted and a number of problems developed which were not noted during the visits An emergency developed over the Christmas period The much vaunted Emergency response refused to get involved and we have never received any response from Chestertons in relation to this difficulty which we had to sort out ourselves from a considerable distance from London Since sacking them we have no response from the so called team Though some of the staff were particularly incompetent we have avoided identifying individuals in this review two were helpful and we have sent them individual emails saying so We consider the problems stem largely from an inefficient and inexperienced staff who seem to spend their time emailing each other but avoiding the actual task We are now with a smaller local estate agent and the difference is striking Nicol and Viv Ferrier Newcastle
