Lost interest once the letting was done
They seemed keen and helpful when they wanted to win the letting from my existing agent But in retrospect if was just being pushy When the letting was near completion with the other agent they got an offer and piled a lot of pressure on me to accept their one - multiple calls and emails etc from different agents on their team Big let down once I made clear I was sticking to the offer I had already accepted - they refused to return the keys that they could not wait to collect a couple of weeks earlier The said I could collect them but as I don t even live in the same city and was happy to have them posted this seemed a bit of a turnaround A shoddy little piece of poor customer service that leaves a bad taste

As a Landlord we find that more than once they have paid rent owed to us to another persons account Instead of instantly just paying us the outstanding money owed to us they tell us they need to talk to the person whose account the wrongly credited This should not be relevant to us This is their error and they need to sort it immediately As we pay a management fee we should be able to expect a professional service Disappointing and inconvenient

Letting process was ok although they should introduce a meeting to talk through contractual terms clause by clause to create alignment and set expetations I was sent a contract via docusign and asked to review and approve overnight Still early days but I am not sure the optional management fee is worth it They don t seem to do much and whenever they do have to manage something they charge for it separately with an expensive supply chain They charged me 4 times as much for a smoke alarm as what it cost on Amazon even though they acknowledged it didn t need an expert to fit it It is still early days and hopefully in a few months time I will be able to write a more positive review

Lack of agent support
My experience was unexceptional right up until a prospective buyer said they d buy Once a buyer had been identified the estate agent was no longer interested and paid no further attention to the process going forward except for a number of phone calls to try and persuade me to move my completion date forward to meet the agent s target I felt bullied and stressed by the behaviour of the agent In follow up to his manager I felt that the matter was not taken seriously January 2022 still waiting for someone to contact me for further information other than the impersonal Trust Pilot request As before it appears bullying is not being taken seriously by Chestertons

Got a good price for our property and sold promptly Didn t think we had the transparency through the sale that we would have appreciated and a few things came up that could have been far better communicated and managed

The service is fine except the various departments and people you have to deal with What happened to having one person you could talk to on everything If you insist on such a user un-friendly system of pass the parcel then at least let the right hand know what the left is doing As landlords we pay a lot of money to agents to find a tenant at least have some compassion towards your client and streamline this extremely cumbersome procedure of several departments none of which know what the other have done

Jess was a joy to work with and the flat is a dream However management and reference company a total wipe out Unhelpful lazy confused and W R O N G The attitude towards tenants must be CHANGED We are as much clients are landlords Without our demand for properties which in London means bid-wars these days there is no industry A little R E S P E C T for tenants is in order

Good experience until contract stage
I ve amended my original 5 stars which I left at the stage at which the rental had been verbally agreed My old review which I still stand by up to a point said Lily at Chestertons helped us sort out our dream rental She got all the paperwork sorted in a couple of days and was on hand to answer all our questions However as soon as we got to contract stage customer service took a nosedive The contract was amended 4 times and each time we had to sign a new version of about 20 pages but when I asked for a countersigned contract a few days before our move-in date I was told this wasn t standard practice Then when I arranged for a friend to collect our keys from the Chestertons office as we were overseas at the time we were told that no one was sure where the keys were This was 4 days after our tenancy had officially started We were told to try the caretaker at a neighbouring apartment but no one was entirely sure It took my calling the lettings manager of Chestertons to ask him to confirm where the keys were a fair amount of time spent calling around and finally requesting that my friend go and collect the keys from the neighbour s caretaker before we could get hold of the keys to our new rental So would I still recommend Chestertons Only up until the point at which the rental is agreed don t expect much after that

A disappointment Lacking integrity
They seemed very professional at first and sold their values very well but cracks appeared in the facade very quickly and they ve become dodgier in every interaction I ve had with them To the point where they threatened me with a bad reference for asking a question Admittedly about a charge I didn t believe was ethical but this was after we had agreed to pay it the worst part is that they don t actually even manage the property I rent the owner self manages and just uses them to handle paperwork for contracts
