Is Amazon heading the right direction

Overall I am rather disappointed by Amazon during the recent years Most of the articles on sale come from China and are - on average - monkey products manufactured from cheap materials Of course I do understand that this is more profitable for them it enables them to sell at 75 of the price of a European product at a time when they pay to the Chinese manufacturer a tiny fraction of the price i e peanuts they would pay to a European one The difference goes to their pockets Their customer service for English speakers is a disaster I usually buy from Amazon Germany Each time I write in English my messages are sent to other countries and the answers are generic or simply wrong For the sake of example I had asked once about the importation tax to Switzerland on articles bought from Amazon Germany above the price of about 65 Euros Amazon claims that the VAT depends on the country of destination The Indian who replied to my message recommended that I could go ahead with the purchase and I should not worry about the importation tax As if he had any idea about taxation in Switzerland I did not buy because I knew that the information was simply wrong Amazon adjusts the VAT depending on the land from which the purchase originates but DOES NOT pass the corresponding amount to the relevant authorities in that land Simply put if I buy an article from Amazon Germany VAT about 20 and import it to Switzerland VAT 8 1 Amazon Germany will add the Swiss VAT to the original price and KEEP the 8 1 VAT They WILL NOT pass the 8 1 VAT to the Swiss customs This implies that I am bound to be taxed by the Swiss customs if I am not careful enough with the price of the imported goods there is a clearance limit for the value of such items in Switzerland equivalent to a VAT of 5 Fr There are NUMEROUS other examples of erroneous answers from their customer service i e from people who have neither the knowledge nor the interest On the other hand when I ask in German my question is processed in Amazon Germany the answers I receive this way are a lot more reliable and the people generally know what they are talking about Another grudge I have against Amazon is that they do not accept ALL assessments of products in their database I have seen this several times When an assessment is good it is accepted When an assessment is bad they will try to find excuses for rejecting it In reality they do as they please As a rule I mean what I say and I say what I mean When I say that a product is crappy I do mean it By uploading such an assessment I intend to protect other customers and assist them with making the right decisions I wrote once that a Chinese product was crappy and that it should not be sold on Amazon I fully meant it They rejected my assessment because it contained a link to another product When I removed that link they rejected it without giving any reason All assessments good or bad express personal opinions and should be accepted per se in case of verified purchases This is the opinion of a customer who buys from them for the last two decades and considers calling it a day E Matsinos

Amazon is usually great when shopping

Amazon is usually great when shopping items and when they are fulfilled by Amazon But Shopping items from other stores who sell on Amazon is terrible Almost Impossible to return those goods and they charge a lot for return shipping labels Amazon should really stop allowing other sellers on Amazon and do everything by them self

Good platform - Delivery service bery bad and getting worse every month

Good platform - would be a 5Delivery service really incredibly bad - I buy several times per month and service keeps dropping - not knocking or ringing the bell at all - not following any Safe delivery location at all and just dropping packages at front door in the middle of the street - perfect recepie for loosing customers big time - not even a 1 star

I like how they have 50 gift cards sell things under 50 49 90 in my case and then DON T FREAKING ALLOW YOU TO BUY THINGS FOR 49 90 Wow thank you amazon you won t let me buy something I want Fk you amazon now I wasted 50 because I don t want anything else And because this is my first time shopping on amazon i got free shipping

Part of a double order one of which never arrived and was refunded This second item looks like it is going the same way Called today 7th from GLS delivered 1 of 2 cartons this evening Driver said he would call tomorrow re second parcel We shall see but experience gives me no confidence at all that I will get a call and receive the other part of the chair

After Amazon started using Airmee as

After Amazon started using Airmee as delivery company it all went down the drain Last delivery they say whew done at 22 05 but I was sleeping and no package Probably just left on the street Last time they said delivered to me despite I was in another country Liked them before ut will have to buy my stuff elsewhere in the future

Delivery with Airmee builds bad reputation for Amazon

Amazon de has been the best alternative to Amazon uk after Brexit with a great variety of goods However recently they suddenly decided to send all packages to Denmark with Airmee a company that has no service points and only delivers late in the evening - probably using private persons for the task Drivers many times do not ring the bell and they pretend they can t find the address There are constant Uber-like updates through an App so that you have to stick to your phone to be ready when the driver arrives And when it s about 1 min left in the App it can suddenly jump to another 30 min waiting Very stressful experience Like many others I m simply searching for alternative places to buy than Amazon

Normally I m happy with the service

Normally I m happy with the service But read carefully about return postage as it varies with every supplier Many have free returns but also some - do not I ve never had any major issues with Amazon after buying there at least 50 times Prices are often good but not always the best - try using price comparison sites before buying

There are three parts to the Amazon experience The PromiseThe SaleThe Arrival of the Goods Amazon are very successful at the first two but are let down on the third by sometimes using unreliable delivery companies when sending to Italy DPD Bartolini and GLS are good but SDA damage Amazon s credibility

Broad choice slow delivery sometimes very high shipping fees

Broad choice of products but many offered through third parties with very high shipping fees It is not very easy to compare prices due to those shipping fees which are sometimes 50 of more of the product price Due to bad experiences I am only ordering products shipped by Amazon themselves As they have no Belgian website I am using the German one which has translations in Dutch Delivery can be very slow compared to other webshops
