First let me say that I am a retired mortgage loan officer I worked for over 30 years in mortgage lending so I understand the process I felt that my mortgage consultant was not that experienced I had absolutely no contact with the processor I called her twice and left a voice message to get a status update on our loan My loan consultant told me that once it left his desk I would need to talk to her Neither call was returned I totally understand closing loans based on when the rate lock expires My simple IRRL was in the pipeline for 60 days before you were able to get it closed I understood how many loans you must have in process because of the low rates Funny thing though was my son-in-law whom I had referred to American Financial got his loan closed a couple of weeks before I did He had a cash out conventional loan with an appraisal and he started his application a couple of weeks after I had It wasnt until I sent an email to my loan consultant voicing my displeasure that I finally got an email stating we would be closing our loan

The refinance was alright but once that is over they are done with you and offer no help I had an insurance claim and the insurance company made the check out to myself and American financing because we were under their umbrella at the time When I received the check i called and was told bring it in and talk to accounting someone will sign it So after driving an hour in rush hour traffic I am told Sorry we can t sign it we transferred your loan It s no big deal it happens all the time Not a big deal to them but huge to me Wasted 3 hours of drive time and had to cancel the contractor to repair my home and now have to wait until the insurance company can issue a new check This is all due to the ineptitude and lack of training of there front line personnel

We have purchased several homes over the years this was by far the easiest simplest most convenient method of purchase refi Tony Iacovetto was my initial contact and he led the process start to finish We did deal with additional people for processes etc but Tony always followed up and was available to speak with directly He answered all questions to our satisfaction and was always available for any issues that would arrive Thanks for a great experience with very few issues As an update- Am Fin sold my loan before the first payment Didn t see that coming and don t appreciate it I realize loans get sold but I have to wait for new paperwork and procedures from a new company Thanks for creating more work for me

Very laxidasical returning phone calls and emails if returned at all When moving it should be as stress-free as possible and working with a few of the people there was very stressful Other than that I m very grateful for their help

The loan process went smoothly My only complaint is the following We applied for this loan on 3 7 2020 Loan disclosures showed 75 in points for a total of 1364 On 3 19 we received new disclosure showing 75 again On closing 4 17 2020 the points were 1 25 for a total of 2273 75 for an increase of 909 75 When I called our mortgage consultant he informed me that it had changed on 3 17 2020 The disclosure we received dated 3 29 still said 75 You can say it was my fault for not carefully reading every line of the 4 13 2020 disclosure but I feel it should have been pointed out to me that it had increased that much

Communication was my main frustration with American Financing I would receive documents in email and would have to call myself to find out what the documents were for and get an explanation I also was told I would get a certain dollar amount when I was disclosed and when we sat down to sign the paperwork it was 300 lower then what I was told

Was left a bit confused Was told I would be getting an amount of money back that I did not get Emails were not responded to by the loan consultant Was told my insurance company would receive funds from the my loan but still unsure I will call my insurance company to find out Don t want to hassle calling AF Was a bit stressful loan process

Having been a long time customer I always deal with American Financing with great confidence I don t know how much of an impact COVID 19 has had but the experience this time was extremely drawn out I think we were at it for more than 3 months with no particular explanation why While very friendly our consultant didn t seem to listen to our questions and other information we provided She worked hard to get us reasonable terms but again everything took so long I would still recommend this company
