Very expensive transactions 0 0005 minimal charge for Bitcoin withdrawal Not nice

An interesting story about Bitsamp to share with all the investors traders I did a USD deposit as usual from my USD account this Monday morning I have also filled the optional deposit notification page to bitstamp to let them know funds were coming Account to funds USDFunds currency EUR I mentioned wrongly Eur as their system defaulted with Eur and I did not pick that I wanted actually to select USD however Comments In the comments I clearly mentioned funds come in USD and I specified the bank name account number and the USD amount Same day in the afternoon Bitstamp uses a very bad exchange rate and converted my USD incoming funds into EUR without any such conversion been asked by me I clearly mentioned Account to fund was the USD and the funds came anyhow in USD Their system got confused as I did not change the Currency of the deposit funds from Eur that is defaulted to USD but did mention in the comments section USD X Amount deposited I launched a support ticket and only 2 days later I get the rejection response to my request Bitstamp to credit me in USD as funds sent originally to them Excuse was their system got confused on the Currency of the funds to be deposited that was mentioned Eur unacceptable as no matter how funds are sent in what ever currency the currency to FUND in my Bistamp account was correctly mentioned as USD-hence no excuse for this unsolicited conversion This is a clearly unsolicted n illegal financial transaction from Bistamp on the burden of the customer Had bitstamp been a retail bank such thing would immediately had been restored and the client may even had received compensation for the stress and trouble caused Even the bank may have lost its license for such gross problem caused to the client or malfunction and if not for sure would have paid regulatory penalties had the client launched an official complain So as of now I am left with very few Eur in my account due to the bad rate bitstamp applied despite sending funds in USD to fund my USD account as always and despite my instructions to reverse this credit and turn it to USD Will contact the regulators in Luxembourg with all screen shots and see what they reply as for sure this is an illegal unsolicited transaction and we should not let Bistamp treating client funds in such irrisponsible way There is a compliance framework when a financial transaction should be triggered No way such transaction should be triggered if the client has not agreed or solicited such There is a serious regulatory breach here guys If Bitstamp later justify my dispute I will update hereUpdate of Friday 15th Sept After escalating the matter to their legal and compliance presenting the legal view of this I got justified and within 1 day only Bistamp restored my USD balance as due

I opened an account with Bitstamp as I am looking for an alternative to my current crypto exchange The security procedures for opening and validating the account was on par with other regulated exchanges submit photo ID 2FA etc I then transferred a small amount of crypto to the account as a test but when I wanted to withdraw it I was told withdrawals were disabled and that I needed to call customer support So I called Bitstamp customer support and after an interview that lasted for a few minutes they requested that I d do a zoom call with them where I had to show my ID answer questions and other things Finally I got an email where I was asked to confirm in writing that I wanted withdrawals enabled After jumping through all these hoops I was finally able to withdraw my money To summarize I do not believe that Bitstamp is a scammer they are just over- zealous when it comes to security but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that they happily allow you to DEPOSIT funds and only hit you with the extra half-hour security procedure when you want your money back I would not have minded as much if they had clearly warned me about this when signing up or better yet demanded that I go through with this before allowing me to deposit It doesn t feel as if all this was for MY security it s just just them legally covering their derri re On the flip side the customer support was responsive polite and professional Let s just say my relationship with this exchange is off to a rocky start

My real feedback is still pending But let me it at 3 stars for now due easy user friendly interface of the website I am actually new in crtytoworld so Bitstamp Exchange interface is pretty good for a beginner like myself Nevertheless I must say that the customer service is complete zero Uptill now I have sent 3 simple inquiries No reply Inquiry Nr 1 Can you tell me how to order Xrp in your website Inquiry Nr 2 I would like to change my email address this is not possible anywhere in the site Inquiry Nr 3 I send 3500 from my bank to my account Just same day I send payment to my Kraken Account Kraken has confirmed my payment already How long will it take you to set up my credit Customer Service is the issue this folks have Everything is ok so far

Overall Bitstamp is a good exchange BUT there is one big issue that they need to change immediately and that s their support It s absolutely inappropriate that it takes more than a week to get an appropriate answer when there is a serious issue with a payment I m aware that at the moment there are a lot of support tickets but when it s about a payment 5 digits issue it needs to be treated very urgently Meanwhile the support got back to me once I wrote this review but with any further results I will update it on the outcome Update 2020-03-02The payment has finally be credited Still the response time in a case like this is still not satisfying Cases like this can t take 48h plus to get an answer This really needs to be improved on Bitstamps side

I ve been using Bitstamp since a year and a half A week ago i received a support ticket about KYC procedure They asked my lot of questions and i answered all of them with documents too Yes as much as possible I understand this procedure but the thing that I m irritated is that it is taking alot of time Why My support agent keeps making questions I answer and the other day or after two days she adds more and than another day another more questions Why not ask all of them once My account is locked since a week and if they had a better plan and were interested to finish these procedures faster most of them can be done by the phone too I m just complaining about timing and the lack of a better alternative

One of the first exchanges I signed up with I had held an account with them for many years with no issues Even was a verified customer as of recently Their new KYC policy turned things into a major source of frustration for me I like to maintain an account just in case I need it down the road to buy cryptocurrency or buy something with cryptocurrency I don t have a specific NEED for an account at the moment but they want very specific explanation on what you intend to use the account for I didn t have that information and apparently this was not good enough for them

A bit clunky to get your head around and transaction fees are a little high Also not possible to withdraw in GBP - you have to choose USD or EUR and let your bank convert Security on the website is tight which is good and once you get to grips with how to navigate and use the site it s all in all not too bad
