Avoid

When I originally did a quote from Home Energy they were the cheapest so I took the deal only for the deal to change on my first direct debt Then I gave my second month of meter readings in march and the account never updated so I was not able to keep a track on my usage or credit Now I have gone to a new energy supplier after just a couple of months of being with them and when I ask for my final meter readings to be updated I never get a reply I have sent between 3-5 messages and nothing so I will never return no matter how good of a deal they offer in the future

Energy provider with no personal info on its website

I used Uswitch to change compare our energy supplier we went to this company because it would save us around 30 a month or so We decided to change to Home Energy this seems to be a bit of a mistake as their website give you little to no information about your account It only gives you meter reading and how much you owe I was unable to see what bank details they had for me my contract or my address Another red flag for me is that I am the first person to leave a review So we are going back to Octopus Energy

Buggy webpage and admin process Not the slickest of experiences

Had to speak with online agent to get the account balance refreshed despite inputting meter readings and one billing cycle having elapsed Customer experience since transferring across has been kinda clunky The account transfer itself was straightforward but their webpage seems to function with delays built in Webpage meter readings has double entries under Electricity Input fields for an Register S Unit and a Register Unit which I was told were initially there as part of the transfer administration process but they re still there 6 weeks into the contract and both fields are active so you re left scratching your head as to which field is where you should be inputting your readings into This was raised with them a month ago but nothing s been done about it despite receiving assurances Main point of contention is how they changed prices with one day s notice Advertised unit price and standing charge per fuel type only lasted for a couple of weeks then prices were increased Sent an email with no other prior notification that this was due to happen Raised with them and their response after chasing them twice was less than gracious Effectively I was told - if you don t like it you can leave I can t say I m overly impressed with HomeEnergy as a provider Overly simplistic with a lot of the fine details left out Ultimately it s there in the account documents but their website leaves a little to be desired with quirks that haven t been ironed out One would think as a smaller provider they d want to get the details right especially after a customer has pointed out issues that cause anxiety and ultimately too much customer involvement to clarify

No relection on Sabrina in any way as

No relection on Sabrina in any way as she did her job in a very professional manner but the whole episode was very stressful and annoying to say the least I will think twice before i consider Home Energy for my energy bills

Mixed level of customer service

Just joined this company as they are the cheapest at the moment but their opening emails were very confusing and the chat with Rhea to resolve these issues wasn t much better so the jury s out as to whether I ve made a wise move or not It s not just about price it s also about clear accurate emails and decent customer service Just finished a second chat with Keiran today 16 10 24 a better result on a different unrelated subject so brings the average up to 3-star for the two experiences Still sending out totally confusing inaccurate and misleading emails 19 10 24 so they re back down to 2-stars for poor documentation admin unimpressive so far

Poor customer service

Poor customer service Long wait tmes SO changed its website and asked everyone to log on again For those customers who assumed that this was one of the routine emails among so many loging on proved to be impossible Why ddn t the new website have a link explaining the situation It would hve saved me and SO staff a lot of time and trouble

Not a good experience

I used Home energy from October 2023 to March 2024 The lack of transparency was appalling to say the least Unfortunately it was difficult to monitor energy usage due to them not having an App I submitted meter readings every month as soon as I received their email requesting readings yet they kept using estimates and sending high bills They later said when I was leaving that estimates were being used because I did not send readings on the first of every month But they never told me anything like until then

Overtaken DD and fail to honor refund after leaving them

It was cheap before but then it got expensive and I left them and they took another extra month after the leaving date leaving a big credit of 3 months of payments totalling 350 plus and they promised a refund withing 10 wd but it has been over 20wd Very dishonest bad and unprofessional company They do not supply utility but just to account for it and they do a bad job of it and keeping my money as punishment for leaving them BEWARE OF USING THEM

Terrible experience when leaving

I tried to leave mid-October but only my electricity was switched to my new supplier and my gas stayed with Home Energy Once I noticed the problem November I called my new supplier who sorted the problem promptly Home Energy continued to take payment for both gas elec until I complained in January I was over 800 in credit by this point Some people have mentioned the friendly customer service from Home Energy I can t disagree with that but personally I d prefer a good service rather than chatty staff

They may be cheap but

They may be cheap and their staff are fine but they re a bunch of amateurs During the last year I ve exchanged many emails with them as they were consistently wrong with the simple maths required to calculate a bill It started with their estimate of the monthly costs which was about 100 less than it should have been then after requiring me to read the meter discovered that they could actually read it remotely but they still sent me meter reading reminders once using estimated readings until I had to point out they were reading the meters themselves I m leaving them now and my final statement of invoices and payments was a complete mess dates all over the place payments missed though the hidden calculations include them I ve just been told it s an IT issue and it will sorted We ll see
